"Speed Racer: The Videogame" has an amazing soundtrack in my opinion

I don't know your opinions on Sonic games, but the soundtracks to the fangames Sonic Before the Sequel and Sonic After the Sequel are some of the most high quality fangame soundtracks I've heard of in a long time. It's got that video-gamey, groovy feel, some of the songs wouldn't sound out of place in a game like Jet Set Radio or Viewpoint.

Personally, I like BtS' soundtrack a bit more, as it leans toward that groovy, electro feel more, while AtS experiments more yet relies more on techno sounds. It's all great however, and I think one of the composers works at Square now, but I'm not too sure.

Both soundtracks are 100% free, legally. There ARE FLAC versions if you're into that sort of thing, and if you're really an audiophile you can listen to the versions they have on brawlcustommusic, the brstm format. It's one of those game formats that basically doesn't fade out, so you can listen to it as long as you want.

I didn't see anyone who mentioned this one but what about the Descent 2 redbook soundtrack that came with the CD? There are likely other tracks that may be enjoyed but the CD music is by far the best!

Simple as the link says, It's the soundtrack to Lotus II RECS, SEGA version, not the more popular cousins of the racing series. There are only a few songs in it, but I grew up enjoying it, and it is to this day stuck in my head. SEGA soundtracks have a special place in my heart, enjoy!

Hey Ross! I'm late to the party, but happy freaking birthday man! I wish you all the very best in life. Let no financial issues ever get you down, and best of luck with your movie!

Anyway, I'm going to give you a whole bunch of obscure tracks that (I hope) you've never heard before. Even if you find a small 5 second section in just one of the tracks, I'd be satisfied. You spend thousands of hours creating content for us, this is the least we can do for you.

To start it off, I'm gonna quote this guy:

He's 100% right. This game, THIS freaking game, is one of the coolest claymation-style adventure games I've ever played. Not only does it have a kickass soundtrack, but it is a wonderful choice for a Ross's Game Dungeon. I highly recommend you check it out.

Next, we move on to a long-forgotten gem called LEGO Football Mania (or LEGO Soccer Mania). The soundtrack for this game is one of my all-time favourites. Unfortunately it does not exist, other than this YouTube playlist of this dude who took the time to rip the files from the game. Nevertheless, please at least check out these three songs:

Now we go to Tempest 2000, one of the most relished games of the Atari Jaguar series. This game has a killer techno soundtrack that always get stuck in my head. Try these two out:

And here we have SEGA's favourite hedgehog, Sonic! I know Sonic is kind of viewed as a joke, and has had some very questionable titles in the past, but in my honest opinion, the Sonic games have some of the best soundtracks in the world (and some of the games are absolutely epic). Moving on, I have to share some tracks from a unique MMO called Freestyle Basketball 2. I know that some songs in the soundtrack have lyrics or sampled lyrics in them, but it's still really good. I'm posting the songs that have minimal or no lyrics:

It's almost like a spiritual phenomenon, which is why I'm asking you to take a look.

"Tactics ogre: Let us cling together" on PSP is a remastered version Tactics Ogre - tactical jrpg for SNES. Besides all the remastered stuff it has reorchestrated soundtrack, which is glorious.

The music is composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata, so it's reminiscent in style to music from Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII

Hey, I know I'm, what, two months late to the party, but I know a couple of pretty good movie soundtracks. One of them you might've heard of, 'cause it's a pretty famous movie, but only in certain circles. It's the soundtrack to Ridley Scott's (hey, same last name, haha) "Blade Runner", my favorite movie of all time. The soundtrack is done by Vangelis, so it can be pretty quiet at times, but when it is, it's beautiful, and the rest of the time, it pretty much sends chills up and down my spine. Wait, that's the lyric to a Johnny Mercer song, isn't it? Nevermind.

The other soundtrack is less heard of, I'm sure, but it's the soundtrack to the classic Sydney Pollack film "Three Days of the Condor" by Dave Grusin. It's sort of a funky 70s jazz- funk fusion type of sound. The only thing that annoys me is that the last song on the soundtrack is a version of "Silver Bells" that was used in the movie. I know it's IN THE MOVIE, but it's not the kind of song you want to listen to every day, you know?

I don't know if these are up anyone's alley but mine, but I figured I'd mention them. They're both still available for sale new, so I don't think I can share the files or anything. The second one is kinda rare, as far as I can tell. I only have it in mp3 format that took me forever to find, because for the longest time, Dave Grusin refused to allow any record companies to release it on CD (but then again, it seems CDs are becoming obsolete anyway), but if you have to have it on CD for listening purposes, that has changed. If you are reading this, and you ARE an audiophile, unlike Mr. Scott, I recommend tracking down a decent copy of the vinyl. The only reason I don't have it is because I tend to buy vinyl locally, since I have a lot of new and used vinyl stores nearby, and haven't found it in any store. I might just break down and order it online soon.

Anyway, sorry for the long post, and sorry for the varied language ("you" vs "Mr. Scott"), it's because #1 I just woke up, and #2 I've never actually used the forums here, so I don't really know who to address. Like, I would hope Ross Scott would see this, but he might not, and other people probably will. So, yeah. I need to finish my cigarettes and coffe, hope this helps!

The composer of this incredible soundtrack made his almost entire living out of making music for Sonic games. I really wish he made music more in the vein of this because this is just gorgeously amazing. It's like a soundtrack to a Silent Hill game taking place in Victorian England.

There seems to be a logic often followed that when composing a medieval fantasy setting sound track, it might be best to leave out instruments of the modern age. I appreciate that player immersion can be easily damaged this way but rarely find music in the genre that stays with me. Well Entomorph opens with GIANT TIME TRAVELING SPIDERS, so it was never going to follow some stupid rules anyway. Electric guitar riffs wail over the piano, drums and synth in a nicely plotted album that ranges from atmospheric exploration to a tense action finale.

Entomorph was the second and last world of Aden release. It's predecessor: Thunderscape shared little narratively but had the same team composing and is worth checking out if you want more of the same.

Civilization: Beyond Earth, while a shallow reskin of Civ5, has a pretty awesome soundtrack, with lots of epic chellos and ambient music:

Inferno (1994) is interesting. 1996, Computer Gaming World ranked it as the 44th worst game of all time. However, the entire soundtrack was written by Alien Sex Fiend. Alien Sex Fiend was a famous early goth rock band - putting out its first album in 1983 - although this soundtrack is ambient-techno.

This isn't really the soundtrack to a game, but if it hasn't been mentioned yet then I'd suggest checking out the soundtrack of the webcomic Homestuck. Here's a list of the best tracks.

If you like upbeat Japanese rhythm music, Senran Kagura: Bon Appetit has some great tracks.

This one might be a bit of an acquired taste, but the soundtrack to Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is fantastic in my opinion, apart from a few remix tracks. The entire soundtrack is composed by the band New World Revolution, which is pretty fitting considering the story of the game.

If you're looking for a slight retro feel with some modern influence thrown in, check out the soundtrack to OlliOlli 2.
