Game Dungeon Wish List

Recommended Posts

You Are EMPTY! would be a good game to see Ross play, I know I only saw one person play it and that was Boner Jones whom I dont know if hes still playing games like that or not, I unsubscribed to him on youtube a while back after he sort of got a bit too annoying for my tastes and almost became worse than PDP

How about Total Distortion? It's a point-and-click adventure game where you have to make successful music videos by fighting "Guitar Warriors" with your guitar. It was such a weird game with one of the best Game Over sequences ever. :)

It would probably be a very short episode, but how many clones of Pacman are there? Ross could do a comparison video, one what ones tried something different, what ones were blatant rip-offs/lacklustre etc. I remember a couple of shareware clones on old MacFormat CDs, one called PacMac Deluxe (which I enjoyed), and one called 'PacTheMan' (not so much).

I USED TO DREAM ABOUT NUCLEAR WAR

Just make sure he doesn't do it for Doom/Quake, or any of their sequels. (there are dozens of clones for each)

Hey there! This seems to be the Game Dungeon suggestion thread, is that right?

I'd like to recommend "Elemental Gimmick Gear". It's a 2D Zelda-esque Steampunk Mech game. The premise is that archeologists cracked into an ancient ruin called "Fogna", and inside, found an Egg-shaped Mech... with a living, sleeping person inside. Over the next 100 years, scientists reverse-engineer the technology of the machine, using it for utility, warfare, exploration, everything, but "The Sleeper" sleeps on.

Exactly one hundred years later, Treasure Hunters enter the ruin themselves, delving into the deepest levels, and in doing so, activate Fogna. It kills them, and massive bio-technological tendrils erupt from the ruin, destroying a good part of the nearby countryside, cutting it off from the majority of the world and generally making things terrible for everyone involved. A few weeks later, "The Sleeper" (You) awakes, re-enters the original EGG, and steps out into the world to find out what's going on, who he is, why this is all happening, and eventually saving the world.

It's very cool from a design standpoint. Every single background in the game is hand-drawn, and very beautiful, which means it still looks good today. When you get into boss battles, the perspective changes from 2D into a 3D battle arena, where you fight the boss, with all unlocked abilities and tools fully translated over (Though this part does not look nearly as nice.)

Sounds awesome, right? Like a game that should at the least be remembered as a cult classic, if nothing else?

The problem is... It came out on the Dreamcast. Which was expensive, did not have as many games in the states as it did overseas, and eventually failed completely upon release of local cheaper systems, such as the Playstation.

However! It has been ported to run on Windows, and can still be found online ( http://www.emuparadise.me/Sega_Dreamcast_ISOs/Elemental_Gimmick_Gear_(J)/99415 ) though that site is the only place I was able to find it. This, in particular, is why I felt like I needed to submit it here. It's an old game, it's a good game, and the fact that it's here and only here it can be downloaded scares the hell out of me. I can personally speak for the website.

Thank you in advance. I don't mind if you have a hundred games lined up before this one, but I'd appreciate knowing you'll at least take a look at it.

This post is here just in case Ross didn't get my email. Without further ado, here we go. I would like to bring to your attention a trilogy of games released only in Japan made by Cybertech Custom for a number of platforms, barring the last one, which is a PC-FX exclusive. They star the company mascot, Chip-chan, which is what loosely ties them together. They include:

-Carat(a Columns clone from 1992 for the PC-98 & X68000)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctwRuXc1RQg

-Cyberblock Metal Orange(an Arkanoid/Breakout clone released the same year as Bip Bop II & III, also for the PC-98 & X68000, & believe me, if Bip Bop II & III have the best writing in a Breakout clone, than this has the best OST of any Breakout clone.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqzaatyueys

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lI20gDmb7fU

-Chip-chan Kick!(a Snow Bros. clone that plays similarly to Arcade America & Hotel Mario, but much more polished, & a PC-FX exclusive released in 1996. This is what most likely brought Cybertech Custom under in the first place, due to the PC-FX's failure, making these three games abandonware).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sofp75a8pis

Someone who might help you in the realm of PC-98, X68000 & PC-FX emulation is a Youtube & Deviantart user named Ruko Michiharu. She's an outright expert on such fields as obscure Japanese computers & consoles.

She's even made her own tutorials on PC-98 emulation. Her format could make for a perfect cameo in your Game Dungeon series. Have a look-see:

& she covers Video Game tunes on the Turbo Grafix 16 & Game Boy chips. You could ask her to cover the Nyet III intro & ending themes if you want to. Again, have a look-see:

& that's about it. I sincerely hope you take these requests into careful consideration. Take care, as always.

I Know that this games are not that old or "deserted", but It would be funny to see it in GD...

Giants: Citizen Kabuto

Giants_Citizen_Kabuto_Box_Cover.jpg

It was, and still is, one of my favorite game of all time. Especially thanks to Polish translation that back then were amazing, but even when I played original version its still was funny as hell and its give me pure joy that modern games barely can touch.

Combination of action, RPG and strategic game is amazing, and most important its open world! Its not advanced open world but its give you looooots of way to finish every mission, so even if you played it more than 50 times(Like me) you still find it fun to play.

And maybe something... way longer? and deeper? Classic of all time, probably best rpg of whole time(Im not afraid of using this word here)

Planescape: Torment

planescape-torment.jpg

I still have good-old box of it with T-shirt, mouse pad, tons of books with help, map and small metal pedant with logo of the game... and no back then it didnt cost 900$ and it was not made in 100 per country to sell. It was actually standard box for about 30Euro(140zł) xD

And game it self... well leave what you are doing now, schedule few free weeks and prepare for really hard, complex and demanding game.... and windows XP because its really dont like new windows... ;]

I would like it if Ross could manage to get some of the old Small Rockets games some limelight. Preferably Red Ace Squadron and Master of the Skies: The Red Ace, especially since Small Rockets vanished back in 2012 and took all their games with them.

He better be careful though, they had some rather racy games in their list. ;) lol

I'd like Ross to take into RGD a russian game "Hard to be God" by Burut CT. It's an RPG set in a world similar to that one in Strife but is even more medieval. The game itself is somewhat based on the book of the same name by Strugatski brothers. It's really worth your time. But the gameplay is meh, graphics are mediocre.

The narrative is FLAWLESS and I mean that it's FLAWLESS. The only problem is that the english version has gimped it so bad that it simply hurts to listen. That might be the reason for you not to experience it fully and get (any)enjoyment out of it. But if you have means to get into the Russian version - you will NOT regret it.

And one more thing - near the end you will own a bad-ass castle and an arsenal of blasters to rule it.

No, wait, I'm ain't done yet.

The clothes you are wearing do more than just protect your precious buttocks - they change behaviour of NPCs you're talking to, add in some cases new dialogue options and even turn some factions friendly/hostile.

The sidequests SUDDENLY are diverse and interesting - no "kill 10 boars" allowed - and have a reasonable in-game incentive to do them at all.

To don't get too lost in the story it would be nice to have any information about The Noon Universe but if you don't - it's not hard to follow, just pay attention.

The dialogues are written good, often hilarious, especially the dialogues with yourself(I'm not crazy or wrote this wrong - there are DIALOGUES with yourself).

Even if it won't make it into the GameDungeon - just give it a try.

BTW, if anyone played it - feel free to add whatever I might've missed. I don't want this game to be just forgotten.
