Since the global economy is very interconnected, it'd probably be more realistic to be concerned about potential environmental damage if the Keystone Pipeline were to leak at some point along its span than to try to argue that shipping crude won't benefit us at least a little bit.

 

Trump really is the worst candidate right now. While I think the other Republicans have the wrong ideas about things, they at least understand some of how the world works (most of them totally ignorant on at least one favorite topic or another), where Trump doesn't seem to know anything about anything.

Ron Paul at least wants to get rid of the NDAA which was passed in an emergency session in 2012 at the beginning of the year by a vote of 97-3 in favour of it, and it basically means you can be sent to GitMo at any time and be held there basically against your will if you are deemed a threat to the USA when you havent done jack shit

did you know about the kid from Ohio who was taken from his home in the middle of the night by Feds and his parents found out he was gone and had no idea where he was? that was from the NDAA the kid was 12 years old and from what I heard about it, there was a kid at his school whose father worked for the State Department and then word traveled fast since the kid didnt like obama and said if I could take this country over I would and I would make this country better, well from what i heard he was sent to an internment camp run by FEMA and about several months later was shot dead

I have been gently hinting at quite a few government activities over the years, and many of them are starting to come to light. (example: the firmware-based virus from Equation Group being used as a spy tool)

If I started believing any guy on the internet who's convinced he's got the dirt on the government, then I'd have to bash my head with a meat hammer for disqualifying myself from brain usage.

This discussion has been drifting further and further from civil with each post. I don't like the prospect of having to close it on these grounds so I suggest everyone bring it down a few notches.

There has also been a lot of "trust me on this" style arguments and I'm gonna be honest, those are not helpful. Neither to the topic at hand nor the attitudes of those who disagree with the argument. It's causing a snowball effect.

Everyone goes through an "idealistic communist phase" when they are young because Communism sounds warm and fuzzy and you think "This sounds like such a good idea, why isn't everyone doing this?", but then you grow up and investigate into communism and how it has worked, and then you go "Holy shit I was so naive to think this was a good idea, this ideology is EVIL, how could anyone believe in this?"
