Honestly, I do believe your original post on this, Alyxx, would be a lot more useful on YouTube.

Probably wouldn't do much good on Youtube though. There've been whole videos saying the same thing she is and yet I don't see an hinderance in the complaining...or trolling for that matter.

My ol' grampaw used to say:

"What're you complainin' about? Yinz got three choices:
If it can be fixed, and you can fix it, shut up and fix it.
If it can be fixed, but you cain't fix it, shut up and find someone who can.
If it cain't be fixed, shut up, coz there's no sense cryin' an' moanin' 'bout something what cain't be fixed!"

Yeah, he was a mean ol' bastard, but he got stuff done. :D

Rage thread!
Well I understand people getting angry for Machinima's choice of releasing video's, however, yelling doesn't help and makes you look weird. Secondly, I all forget about it once another amazing episode is out. Thirdly, playing the waiting game has it's way of community bonding as well, you may not notice it but follow me for a bit:

It's like a family game: Everyone plays it. Some might not enjoy it (think they are losing) but they don't, this game is even better. Everyone involved in playing the game wins eventually! :D
And we all talk about it, we discuss it, and when we get the sweets, we have even more to talk about and we all do it. :p And in the end.... :D

I don't really care anymore on how long it takes for Machinima to release FM. Because I actually never watched the site until recently. I mean I missed about 13 episodes before I was up to date on watching them all.

I think mainly all the 13 year olds are complaining it takes too long. Remember people do have a life and they need to carry on with that life. They cannot cater to everyone's needs.

I get your point. The problem here is that the family game makes everyone appear childish and whiny in the eyes of the "parents" of this board.

Ah people can complain if they want as long as they're civil about it.

When I see a ton of topics being made about it and people doing it in other threads, bringing it all off topic, then I don't consider that civil or okay. If people just made one topic and all posted in it, then it wouldn't be a problem in the first place. The problem is that I see it all over the place.

Well, not to play devil's advocate my friend, but the title of this thread and the general feeling of the message in your original post is "Stop complaining", not "Stop complaining all over the place and making endless threads about it". I think that rubbed some people the wrong way.

I'll say it again: let's merge all the "Oh, my god, episode X is all green!!!111one!!" and "Where's my damn episode, you machinima.com bastards!!!" threads that are already created onto one, and try to keep the situation contained. It someone creates a new thread, merge it and then discretely (as in PM) explain to them that is best that way... they won't do it again.

Same if someone post consistently off-topic complains in other threads (specially the serious ones). PM them (I've done it a couple of times myself) and explain the situation.

Sticky this thread & add a forum rule. Lock threads that ignore the house rules and give short bans to repeat offenders / instigators. Problem solved.

Forum moderation is about being consistent, not specific.

I agree with both of the above posts and I've edited the first post to not sound like a complaint.

I think merging them is pointless. Perhaps even wasteful. It creates more work for you and leaves no immediate traces behind for new users who haven't got a feeling for the community yet. Having locked threads around is usefull because like a stickied thread they serve as visible markers that certain types of behaviour are not okay. Otherwise it might appear to a new user (that failed to read up on the rules and or stickied thread) that complaining about machinima might still break new grounds.

Personally I don't really like locked threads... They end up all bunched up together in the last pages, kind of a topic graveyard (or garbage dump). It's not very neat.

If you merge them and educate the users (via PM always, I like the one on one approach rather than the public proclamation of your crime), you build up good practices... leaving as markers like you say it's like leaving heads on spears for all to see.

You have very good points, yes.
But yes, this was mostly a vent thread since I felt a bit fed up with the trend.

Dude did you read the first post? I believe they said that the main reason it is annoying is that people keep making more threads that need to be converged. I don't imagine that takes for than a few clicks to do but on the 10 millionth time doing it, it gets pretty damn annoying, particularly when there is nothing really of value inside.
Don't get me wrong, I have a special place in hell reserved right next to my apartment overlooking the lava pit for machinima. But 10 pages of complaint is a bit much.

Wowwww....

The original post was edited, it was way longer before and there is no way I would have made that post for that OP.

Also this thread was stickied before and even deleted before before being brought back. Guess she had to delete it, think of a way to change her post, then undeleted it or whatever. Pathetic.

Actually I only changed the title and stickied it, the thread was never deleted at all, so please check the facts before you come with such statements.
And I changed the post because I changed my mind a bit. I guess I can relate to the complaints in a way. Basically I wanted to endorse people to try and stay on topic, and I think I came off as a bit whiny and bitchy, which I don't want to.

freeman's mind
civil protection
complaints about machinima
etc

Because complaining about Machinima is not a show...it'd be a very wierd show though.
