FREEMAN'S MIND: EPISODE 39

Recommended Posts

It was a funny episode, and really is it just me or does it seem like Freeman is starting to take a darker turn? He's going from an arrogant asshole to just plain insane. I love it though :D

The part with the guard was the first time a new Freeman's Mind episode has actually made me laugh in a long time. Good job.

I love you, yet can't stand to know you exist.

The only space you really "need" is for one foot and at least the side for one hand.

Me and a bunch of guys climb buildings to chill out often and I have a few parkourists among them, and yes theoretically you would be right. However that would take longer and with more struggle then how you simulated it.

And that is why I mentioned it, the length of the lamp was clearly only enough for one foot/hand in my opinion :P .

Anyway I was thinking how else you could get there and I realized there was two other long lamps stretching from one side to the other in that room that you could have used through climbing on the boxes in the back first and then on one of them, then then the other. I don't know if you missed them or anything... just saying it would probably be what I'd do in real life. :)

"When a son is born, the father will go up to the newborn baby, sword in hand; throwing it down, he says, "I shall not leave you with any property: You have only what you can provide with this weapon."

I'm really enjoying the character progression. I think I would be on the brink of insanity by then too. He's going to think he has lost it when he gets to Xen

Here is the much-delayed episode 39.

Nice to see another one up as always.

For those that haven't played the game before, the upcoming episodes will have a lot more of the environment to "interact" with, so that makes things easier for me.

By this do you mean things you can "use" or things you can act like you're doing things with even though they aren't interactive by the game's rules? (Incidentally, I have played the game myself, quite a few times. You know, in case you couldn't have guessed by my avatar.)

Also it looks like the color got skewed on Youtube again, it feels like a dice toss these days as to how that will turn out

I wonder why they're so inconsistent. Should be a fairly automated process for them to get it onto YT, given the volume of video they handle. Actually, now that I think about it again, is it Machinima's fault or YT's? Hmm.

but the downloadable copy should look correct once I encode that.

Do you think you could give us a downloadable version of 38 while you're at it? Or are you saving that for MKV as well?

Oh, and maybe think about updating the movies page? In your copious free time, of course. ;-)

Ross the only criticism I would have is the "impossible" climbing you did in some parts like near the electric fence.

Try to do something like that in real life and you will understand you can hang on a small lamp like that but not climb on top of it, you wouldn't have any space to pull yourself up...!

While I'm not a parkour expert or anything, I've done a lot of climbing before. If you climb up by giving yourself a vertical jump boost as you're doing it, it will help push most of your weight up (so you don't have to lift your entire weight) assuming the gripping point is low enough. Once you can get up enough to have your stomach over the point, you can kind of scramble upright from that carefully. The only space you really "need" is for one foot and at least the side for one hand. Regardless, what I wanted to do was just stack the dog containers, but the game wouldn't let me move them.

I'll say the conceit here with Gordon pulling himself onto the light is that the HEV suit is like bionics or something. The Six Million Dollar Man, y'know? Gordon says that he can do pull ups, but we all know he's a liar. It's the suit doing it. He just needs to get a grip (pun only partially intended).

Or a grappling hook.

My favorite lines is when he's shouting or conversing with non-human enemies. "Okay, I'm your dance instructor--No! You're starting too early! Stop that! I said stop that! 1-2-3 Left! 1-2-3 Left! No, no, your rhythm's all wrong!" or Bill's signature quote. :D

very nice episode.

I could see you were struggling with the factory part, so it's good to have a break from that!

When he killed the security guard scared the crap out of me! XD I like how he's going insane. Makes me wonder what'll happen when he finds the scientists he NEEDS to get out of the building.

This was a GREAT episode. So many ridiculous moments and great dialog. You can't even blame Freeman at this point for going insane.

Anyone would go insane from that amount of traversing endless confusing architecture.

Not to mention the alien invasion and almost everyone trying to kill him. :P

Feel free to PM me about almost anything and I'll do my best to answer. :)

Kill scientists. Stack bodies. Climb out.

I have the perfect comeback. A Spaz-12.

I just replayed that part to see the game-over message, and one of the scientists that I shot (but didn't kill) ran in a panic safely through to the other side of the death-o-matic. And then tried to run back, with less success.

I have the perfect comeback. A Spaz-12.
