A decent song ruined by a God awful meme.

I'm glad to see i'm not the only one who thinks memes aren't funny.

Are scientists gonna be as useless as they were in the original?

So in my opinion they were never and will never be entirely useless. They also functioned as living keys in some situations where they had retinal scanner access.

Indeed, there were a few rooms dotted around the place that contained additional weapons, etc that scientists could open for the player, even though it was not necessary for the player to go there to continue the game.

Feel free to PM me about almost anything and I'll do my best to answer. :)

That's just like getting the shotgun in a hidden location but if you wait long enough you'd eventually get it anyway.

I just... I don't even...

Well, in the original they could heal you when you were hurt.

They can also heal you in BM.

I hope they can at least pick up a gun like the medics in HL2...

Don't insult me. I have trained professionals to do that.

Scientists can't use guns in BM because they can't use guns in HL.

Then what's up with that "scigun" model in HL1?

I think at some point, Valve intended scientists to have a more direct role in the combat, similar to the Barneys, but ended up discarding that idea so that they would have a different role.

So even if BM decided to make scientists more combat-ready, in the end that would go against Valve's original vision.

They could have them hold guns but they'd be reluctant, have horrible aim, be shaky, nervous, and not shoot that often.

Have the scientists be reskins of the HL2 medics, and have the Barneys be reskins of the HL2 rebels.

It would probably be ridiculous and overpowered, but I don't care.

Scientist that wield shotguns, Barneys that can pick up and use dropped rifles.

The intent is to be a reimagining of Half-Life, but the basic principles remain. There's no ironsights, Magnusson won't be in the mod, and scientists don't wield weapons. Plain and simple. Besides, you can just as easily have the guards follow you, and they can use weapons.
