Ah, you're talking about the widget in the lower right corner like on the majority of Enjin sites... The one that is so terribly buggy that it only works half the time, and doesn't work at all if you have any sort of privacy/security settings enabled. If you could get one that doesn't require flash or java script, it wouldn't be too terrible for this site. Have to make sure it isn't obnoxious too. (no flashing at all, unlike any other I've seen)

This is the thing I have in mind. Bottom of the board says IPbulletin but it's probably custom, being a big company and all. But I'd take anything with that functionality, regadless of how it looks.

That is on an entirely different forum backend... Though it might be possible to introduce something similar, it would be an eyesore for many of us, so would require a method of complete removal.

I do however want to fix the UCP issues as a main priority.

XD I actually discovered it recently myself (after 4 years here -.-) Helps the moderating job by showing me any new posts instead of going through everything 1 by 1.

Ouch, thanks for the screenshot. I've fixed the styling now so if you shrink the window it'll auto-expand, and the button's text will remain on a single line...

The view I was referring to would be slightly different: It would show threads with your posts, but only if they have replies that you haven't read, ie an 'Unread replies to your posts' section.' Something like that anyway, it was just an idea, however the UCP is a higher priority.

thats ok, I mean it is a cool logo but I was only mentioning it so if there were newcomers of Ross's videos they would be able to see it, I know I dont mind if its not there, I mean I like the image, its eerie but it is cool as all hell, I just dont want people to think wtf?! wheres the logo I have seen before? Feel free to cite concrete examples of posts you think warrant kicking or a ban. I'm sure someone can think of an example, but if somebody is being civil and isn't obviously trolling, I can't think of many opinions that would warrant banning.

 

Okay, this is really late, but here's a few that should involve at the bare minimum a kick:

 

I'm sick and tired of the 'gay rights' assholes throwing around massive rallies and marches, and trying to force 'awareness' on everyone to say that not only is it 'right', but that it's better in every way than heterosexual relations. For a remarkably small minority, they are really getting on my nerves.

 

But yes, we need the LGBT movement for the same reasons as why we need the Feminist movement.

To be incredibly obnoxious, hateful, hypocritical, idiotic, and overly zealous to the point of infringing the rights of others because they act on their feelings rather than logic?

 

Feminist are a fucking joke and the world would be better off without them. They make problems where there aren't any and act like we women are oppressed when we aren't. It also doesn't help that they want to bring the LGBT communities into the hate circle jerk with them, when really a lot of gays I've met hate feminist.

So less worth for almost everyone else in the USA, (currently being a white male means that you will not get a high paying job anywhere, if you don't already have one) stay the exact same in most of the European countries, lose most value in the middle east and asia, and gain a small amount of worth in the top 1% of earners world wide.

 

Discrimination is very common against the white male, simply because of the quotas to hire the minorities. (these quotas are so that companies can get massive amounts of government money for free, at least in the USA) Females and minorities in the USA are given better initial pay offerings and benefits to entice them, and it all revolves around getting paid by the government to not hire white men. (a white man and a black man apply for the same job, the white man is perfectly qualified and experienced for the position and the black man has no qualifications or experience at all, the company will hire the black man, same goes for any woman)

 

The problem isn't that minorities are underrepresented, it's that everyone overreacts when they hear about any form of 'discrimination' when it involves a minority. Hire based on qualifications, not based on gender or skin color. (and quit hiring H1-B visas for $30k/yr for jobs that should pay $150+k/yr)

 

I always thought that biblically, women were PROPERTY of the man and were there for housework and procreation.

Actually, only a very few religions believe that. (all are non-Christian)

First off, we appreciate the fact that you're here, aiming to make the forum a happier better place. ^_^ That's very appreciated, and we thank you for that.

However, the majority of these quotes are from posts that were made a while ago, some even a few months ago. Some even go back to when I wasn't a moderator, thus couldn't do much about it at the time. Suddenly going up to the people you listed and saying; "You are getting banned for this thing you did months ago..." seems rather unfair. But, they're still things we look at and take into account for, definitely.

 

Secondly, I don't want you thinking that we're sitting on our lazy moderator backsides, watching it all happen and not doing anything about it. We have given warnings out, but they're kept private for a reason. Action has been done, just not in the public eye. If a user wishes to share what happened, they may. But as far as I know, blurting out every single offense and disciplinary action is not the kindest of things...

 

Thirdly, we have more mods now. X3 We WILL be more alert on these things from now on, and I apologize if you feel as though that there hasn't been enough action being done on the forum.

 

Fourth, a small amount of these posts were users simply stating their opinion. And without context, it's hard to tell if it was said in the right place at the right time. If it was voiced on a 'Discuss your opinion' thread, then there's not much offense to it. Anything really in the 'Serious Discussion' section is taken more respectively than something in the 'Free-for-all' section.

 

But in summary; things are being dealt with. If something comes up, we'll attend to it.

 

It's also noteworthy that I don't know exactly what Ross wants or prefers to be done... seeing as he is the owner, whatever he says, goes. But for now, unless Lord Sinister or some other mod says something else against what I have to say, this is how it'll go. And I apologize in advance if I have said anything that you disagree with or dislike. Your help is appreciated, and we will take some of the quoted texts you posted into thought. ^_^ Thank you!

There is a difference between stating your opinion and outright flaming someone. Unless you are outright being a jerk to someone for their opinion, stating your own opinion is NOT banworthy. It's alright if you disagree with someone but it doesn't make them banworthy...

Pour Exemplé, I got told off for shooping Ross' likeness too many times. Action was taken, I removed the images, and everything carried on as normal. I feel though that future Ross Shoop is off the cards for me for a good while to show I'm taking it seriously.

 

 

The examples ThePest showed are rather aggressive comments, and I certainly wanted to respond as aggressively (I nearly did), but it's better to douse the flames than fuel them. This forum has a feature where you can opt to not see any posts by a specified user, which you may find more useful.

 

Granted, some of the views highlighted I completely disagree with, but I choose not to waste my time trying to argue, because I can change their opinions just as easily as they can change mine (meaning: I/they can't).

 

Now, if someone called me a *British slang for cigarette*, that would constitute a warning, with a ban for repeated harassment.

If I were to start using what Australians pronounce as "Can't" regularly, the same would apply, as it's a significantly more aggressive curse word than the now-pretty-desensatised FoxtrotCharlieUniformKilo.

 

If this forum had a specific political and moral code, then indeed ThePest's examples would have been met with a very swift ban. But as far as I know, the 'Don't be a jerk' rule is what we got, and it's the most practical. Thankfully we don't seem to have any *real* jerks around here at the moment.
