Freeman's Mind 2

Recommended Posts

I would like seeing how Gordon reacts to putting himself in more danger than he needs to be in. Ravenholm, the Antlion tunnels in Episode 2, or escorting the civilians in Episode 1, come to mind (stealth pun?).

Hi there, I'm Link 8909 and this is my first post on the forum, I started watching Freemans Mind around the time episode 5 came out and have been a fan of the show since.

Now that’s out the way I'd love to see Freemans Mind continue on through Half-Life 2 and the Half-Life 2 episodes, maybe Ross Scott could get other voice actors to play the different characters (like Alyx, Barney, Eli or even G-Man) Freeman comes across in the game so that Freeman could have full on conversations with the characters.

I'm not sure that'd be such a good idea. One being that they probably wouldn't sound much like the characters, two being that those characters are speaking anyway and, in line with the rest of the series, Gordon will probably just ignore them, and three being I like the sense that Freeman is just kinda tuning people out and is in his own world. XD

Very True, I had this thought that at the end of Half-Life when he finally meets G-Man that while he's talking Freeman is tuning him out like he usually does, but then G-Man just says "Look Mr Freeman, would you mind being quiet for a minute, it's very rude to talk over other people."

But I can see the complications of it (like getting the right voice actors, editing the existing voices and so on), just throwing ideas to the wall to see what sticks.

There's your problem, don't throw ideas, throw Science! then maybe you'll get superpowers, or at least some tumors.

But yeah, I'd love to see a Freemans Mind 2 and I'm looking forward to seeing what Ross Scott does with it.

Actually, one of the things I love most about Freeman's Mind is the way Freeman responds to what the Scientists and Guards say.

Freeman: "See if I do anything nice for you again... because I wont."

Scientist: "As I expected..."

Freeman: "What was that? You trying to say something about me? Man, I'll kill you... pricks..."

Guard: "Go right on through, sir. Looks like you're in the barrel today."

Freeman: "Did he just say I'm 'in the barrel'?! Oh, shit, looks like I'm the only person here who know some dirty jokes!"

And that's just in the first couple episodes. XD Later on he misinterprets them, or just flat out is wrong about stuff. Like he thought that one scientist was a genie right before he got the shotgun.

I'm really interested in how he'll react to Alyx in particular. Could you imagine Freeman bumbling his way through Episode 1 without a care in the world for her? Maybe he'll be a douche at first and get more attached over time, especially after the suppression field is off. Can you imagine his reaction to Elie's grandkids comment? I imagine he'll treat rebels about as well as he treats scientists though. No idea for how he'd go with CPs, not too kindly I expect.

Be kinda've funny if she likes him, but he just acts like a douche to her. Then again, Alyx isn't bad looking, and Freeman obviously likes women...hmm...

I can definatly see Freeman constantly hitting on her, that would be hilarious since she wouldnt even respond to it.

I doubt it tbh, I really think he is going to be a big ass......which would be entertaining as hell.

On TV Tropes they said that they think Freeman will be a big jerk and then act like a softie when she almost dies, then when she's better he just plays it off like he doesn't care.

I could imagine him waking up on the train to City 17 and actually thinking he's still in Black Mesa.

"Jesus Christ, just how big IS Black Mesa!? That's it...I'm going to live the rest of my life in this place...Where did my suit go!?"

I'm curious as to how he'd handle Freeman's personality as the character goes from being an unlucky observer to a full on revolutionary. I wonder if Freeman would get just a little more serious about his job of liberating the future.

(first timer here) well i think that based on the way the game starts and the way freeman rebels against authority...sometimes needlessly...well anyway i think he will just instantly get pissed at CP and his paranoia will kick in full throttle. whenever i get to that trash can scene in the beginning (where the CP guy orders you to throw away the can) i can just imagine freeman lashing out against "the man!" and making a mad dash when he discovers what getting hit by those stun batons feels like. as for the whole revolutionary thing well i think that he will be happy to have allies who are actually helpful, if a little obsessive. he will be constantly freaking out as usual and getting high on adrenaline as well i bet. overall i don't think his character will change much, or that it will need too. hell i would PAY to see how he responds to ravenholm.

The pheropods and friendly antlion slaves are something I really want to see.

I can only imagine that he would if the fans wished it so, as he has said before; I too wonder how Freeman will respond to the new and rather alien world he would find himself in, it is my opinion that Half Life 2 is a bit silly when compared to Half Life 1, which has a more serious tone, the Combine are quite silly and weak when compared to the Xen creatures and HECU Marines, it may be because the weapons in Half Life 2 are rather cartoon-like, unlike the robust military equipment, humorous yet frightening biological weapons, and advanced scientific devices of Half Life 1.

Although I must seem like a critic, I would not be adverse to a Freeman's Mind 2, quite the opposite, but I do not think I will like it more than Freeman's Mind, but only time, and Ross Scott's talent, will tell.

I have to agree about Half Life 2 being silly.

In fact I would go so far as to say unrealistic.

I was swimming through a tunnel full of water as usual, except this time the combine kicked a bunch of explosive barrels in the water as I surfaced. I panicked and tried to get out of the water and find cover. I was expecting the concussion to transfer through the water gel my organs or something similarly horrible. I realized I couldn't get out of the way in time, so I dived to see the nice gory fireworks. I was totally unharmed by the blast.
