I see Bill Gates would be happy to see this poll. :F

Microsoft can be proud of Windows 7 and Windows XP, they are mighty fine operating systems. Though what I don't like is how much they love brightness. Everything is so bloody white with dark letters on top. The only dark theme Windows 7 offers is a butt ugly high contrast theme next to something like 10+ white stylish ones. Where are the stylish dark themes? Black Windows explorer, with cool aero effects? That would look really badass.

Sometimes I wonder if Microsoft art designers sleep in pale white rooms with their eyes open, with lighted halogen bulbs everywhere.

You can easily customize the look of Windows 7. I've turned it darker and sexier. =P

Do tell. I am pretty clueless about customizing this thing.

Right click on your desktop. Choose "Customize". Then click on "Window Colour" and "Show colour mixer". Here, turn the "Brightness" dial down to zero and watch Windows 7 transform into sexy darkness. You can also turn it transparent, that helps a lot.

Here's a screenshot on how to do it (excuse the Norwegian text).

The only option I have is 'Personalize' and it leads to the theme chooser, I see no window colour options.

Found it. Looks like it was just a translation thing, Customize is Personalize. I'll be fooling around with the colours, that's for sure. Thanks for the tip.

I have Windows 7. Its a nice operating system, but I wouldn't say its really good. I mean, All Microsoft did was release a nice Operating System, Windows XP, then wait an unusually long time to release a new one, Windows Vista, which sucked, lets see... hippopotamus butt. Then, they release a decent one, Windows 7, and it seems gold, but only in comparison to the last one. Of course this isn't Microsoft's fault, they can't just do a complete reboot and hope that everyone will remake every application from scratch to be compatible. At most Windows 7 made thigs more accessible, but there is still a lot room for improvement, there is a lot of stuff wasting resources that basically can't be turned without unforeseen consequences

Love the HL reference there.

Anyway, I can see your point. But that doesn't change the fact Windows 7 beats Vista by a long shot.

I'm glad you found it. I'm sorry, I'm used to Norwegian Windows.

This is not classy looking in Classic style but I made everything much easier on my eyes. How flexible are Aero colour settings (I'm afraid to try myself because I'm visually impaired.)?

Well, not really that flexible. But at least you can decide which colour to use, how much brightness to use, and whether you want transparency or not.

Tbh windows 7 is way more customizable. Your just need to be willing to put 5 more minutes in to doing it.

All you really have to do is patch your system for custom themes. And then just search for themes on DeviantArt(most of them have a detailed description on how to install the theme).

For example here is a good one i used a while ago: http://rajtheeban95.deviantart.com/art/Dark-Soft-big-updates-153240734?q=&qo=

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Or you could install WindowBlinds. That works too.

Yeah but you either have to pay for it or pirate it(and finding a 100% fully functional no problem-version is hard). Also you'd have to have windowblinds constantly open, i don't like having lots of programs open all the time.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I did know of the custom theme patch but I do not like to install OS related patches by 3rd parties, I've read many BSoD horror stories.

Enough to put you off, I imagine.
