Could you use windows vista to run a virtual machine of windows 7?

That doesn't make sense, you can't have an older run a newer OS (at least I don't think you could :? ) and even if you could why wouldn't you just upgrade outright?

I guess you could, but it would be pointless. You should just upgrade.

I am pretty sure they are free. But you will still need the OS. It won't come for free(legally, that is).

Virtual Machine is free for personal non-commercial use but it still works like a real machine and you still need a key for the OS you install on it.

In theory you could run Windows 7 inside a virtual machine in Windows Vista, but as have been stated, it would be pretty useless since Windows 7 is newer and the best thing would be to install it on your real machine, period, and maybe run Vista or XP in a virtual machine if you have problems running older software.

Mac OS 10.6.8.

Is Windows 7 any good? I was thinking that my next laptop should be a windows machine. Mac is shiny and all, but what I need out of my computer really doesn't justify mac's price tag.

EDIT: BTG, I think you need to update your signature; Macs have been able to right-click for a LONG time.

I've used it for a while now, i like it. I haven't had any major problems with it yet. I like it more than XP.

Yet their standard is still only a single button.

Don't insult me. I have trained professionals to do that.

I know. I'm always curious how Mac users can handle just one button every time I'm in a computer store and see a Mac mouse with only a single button.

I know I've said this far too many times already.

Most mac users use PC mice. go to my college and go into the mac lab for every class and only like 1 out of every 10 students have a mac mouse. Even then, the mac mice have 2 sensors inside of them that you can configure for 2 buttons. It's clunkier than a PC mouse but it still works.

I like the Mac OS, I just don't like Macs.

I haven't used the MAC OS. But probably would stick with windows simply because it is the most used OS and because of that pretty much everything works with it. With MAC on the other hand you have to use 3rd party programs to get many non mac things to work.
