What's your favorite quote/poem/lyric?

Recommended Posts

True, but it's just as pointless.

Also, as seems to always happen here, people refuse to acknowledge evidence when it's provided, and continue to deny... How would that work out if the argument was about the color of the sky? (provide evidence that the sky appears blue and reflects blue wavelength light, and have someone constantly saying that the studies are biased or flat out lying and constantly demanding more proof without countering any of the provided evidence)

Don't insult me. I have trained professionals to do that.

If someone says the studies are biased or flat out lying without providing proof then it's time to end the argument with them. Because at that point it's not an argument, it's them throwing a fit and if my 2 year old cousin taught me anything is that fits aren't based off logic. I very much enjoy when people link their evidence and sources for the same reason I enjoy learning things.

My issue with the serious discussion forum here is it's less civil discussion and more passive aggression.

Behind Blue Eyes-The Who

When my fist clenches, crack it open

Before I use it and lose my cool

When I smile, tell me some bad news

Before I laugh and act like a fool

If I swallow anything evil

Put your finger down my throat

If I shiver, please give me a blanket

Keep me warm, let me wear your coat

Welp, now what?

Found a good one in yesterday's Extra Punctuation:

"The temptation then is to start rationalising in your head. Well, we only saw a little bit, right? And it's being made by a very big company that I'm sure is full of people who know what they're doing. And I seem to be the only person thinking this is weird because no-one else is saying anything. But in truth, everyone else is thinking the exact same thing and your first instinct was correct. We live in a world of many, many silent intelligent people and many, many talkative fuckwits."

"And I'm not the only one who thinks we're trying to say

To the heavens and all who hear us: Behold all we have made!

We bring destruction, we bring war without an end

And then we live in hope that tomorrow never comes

That it never comes...

We conquer paradise just to burn it to the ground

And we build a future to honour pasts we've left behind

We bring destruction, we bring war without an end

And then we hope that tomorrow never comes

That it never comes..."

Teo Torriate - Queen

Te o toriatte Kono mama ikō

Aisuru hito yo

Shizuka na yoi ni

Hikari o tomoshi

Itoshiki Oshie o idaki

Or in English:

Let us cling together as the years go by,

Oh my love, my love,

In the quiet of the night

Let our candles always burn,

Let us never lose the lessons we have learned.

Welp, now what?

Drops of Jupiter - Train

"But tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet?

Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day

And head back to the Milky Way?

And tell me, did Venus blow your mind?

Was it everything you wanted to find?

And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there?"

This whole song is absolutely beautiful but this snippet has got to be my favorite part

To drop down from a wire and say

'Guys, it's me, you never will believe this

But God is a question

And you and me, we're both mathematicians

And we have the answer:

There is love out here

There is love out here

You don't have to be so scared all the time'"

Anybody remember the game Interstate '76?

Looking out the window of your room onto a wet rainy day

Main street under a slate gray afternoon sky

The light on your face is soft and dim under the lace curtain

And the streets are empty

In the distance, there is a flash and a rumble

Clouds sail the sky like giant wooden ships

On a blackened evergreen sea

Capped with foam

All the pumping's nearly over for my sweet heart

This is the one for me, time to meet the chef

O boy! Running man is out of death

Feel cold and old, it's getting hard to catch my breath

Is back to ash, 'now, you've had your flash boy'

The rocks in time compress your blood to oil

Your flesh to coal, enrich the soil, not everybody's goal

Anyway, they say she comes on a pale horse

But I'm sure I hear a train

O boy! I don't even feel no pain

I guess I must be driving myself insane

Damn it all, does earth plug a hole in heaven

Or heaven plug a hole in earth

'How wonderful to be so profound

When everything you are is dying underground'

I feel the pull on the rope, let me off at the rainbow

I could have been exploding in space

Different orbits for my bones

Not me, just quietly buried in stones

Keep the deadline open with my maker

See me stretch for God's elastic acre, the doorbell rings and its

"Good morning Rael, so sorry you had to wait

It won't be long, yeah! She's very rarely late"

It's just filled with such a profound existential sadness and resignation, yet - no bitterness or anger... I love the atmosphere of this song so much...

....And just like that, I have the sudden urge to listen to the Lamb again.

Here's a quote that made me cry the 1st time I heard it. This is from the late Justin Carmical (JewWario). Long story short, I was in a very dark cloud, figuratively speaking, around June-October. I'm okay now, but at that time I had this feeling as if i'm just a living shit 'til I saw this:

8tN60yFjO-g

"I want you all to look at me. Because what I’m about to say is important. I’ve been thinking about this a lot; a lot lately. And I want you all to know this. This goes out to everybody. You’re not stupid. Okay? You’re not stupid. Don’t ever tell yourself that you are. You’re important. What you have in your head may not mean a lot to a lot of people, but its what makes you special. You are important. You mean something. And you’re going to go out there, and you’re gonna to do some wonderful things. But, first and foremost, you’re not stupid. You’re not an idiot. Don’t ever tell yourself that you are. And, if nobody else ever tells you this, I will tell you this; I care about you."

I'm not kidding when I said that video still makes me wanna break down even when watching it a few times.

Welp, now what?

"There's so many stories where some brave hero decides to give their life to save the day, and because of their sacrifice the good guys win, the survivors all cheer, and everybody lives happily ever after. But the hero... never gets to see that ending. ...They’ll never know if their sacrifice actually made a difference. They’ll never know if the day was really saved. In the end, they just have to have faith. ...Ain’t that a bitch?"- last words of Epsilon-Church (Red vs Blue, season 13, episode 20,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?start=535&v=7DOxqOnSWCE)

This quote actually made me think. Its interesting how little this tought is given out in, well, everywhere. I mean everyone remembers the hero and sacrifice made, but nobody- at least from shows/books/games i've seen (i.e doesnt mean there isnt one), or heck, even real life- has so far put hero's side on. At most we see them imagining some happy ending, but we tend to look past that as just some cheesy tought.

Jack O'Neill: "You know Teal'c, if we dont find a way out of this soon, im gonna lose it. Lose it... it means go crazy. nuts. insane. bonzo. no longer in possession of ones faculties. 3 fries short of a happy meal. WACKO!!!!!!!!"
