Urg, I hope the Pascal stuff isn't delayed too badly. As for DirectX 12, I think adoption will be slow. They're linking it to Windows 10, it's the same crap with DirectX 10. DirectX 9 worked for Windows XP and 9x. We had DX9-only games in under a year after release. DirectX 10 required Vista. We didn't have DX10-only games until 3 years later, but things didn't really start abandoning DX9 until 6 years later. Game developers don't like shutting out potential buyers, but that's what happens when it's linked to the OS.

I'm hopeful more devs will move towards OpenGL, and effectively open up their games for use on any platform with minimal porting required.

The only games I remember playing on DirectX 10 was Crysis and Far Cry 2. Other than that, there wasn't many games that used DirectX 10. You can however still use it as a legacy option in some games... I don't even know why. Some people must still be dumb enough to run Vista maybe??? I don't know.

I remember when Microsoft also used weird marketing strategies, like when Halo 2 came out for the PC: They said you needed Vista to play it, even though it was a DirectX 9 game.

I just... I don't even...

If I ever get a VR setup I'll buy a treadmill and go jogging. IN SKYRIM.

Sounds like fun... Now I want to go do that... Fallout 4 too.

VR has come... but here to stay? I don't know about that :P From what I've experienced, VR is a fad. I tried it a few times and it was maybe interesting for 15 mins, but then I just wanted to chill with a normal controller and TV. Is anyone super 100% in on VR? Would be interesting to know the 'for' side of it.

I believe it won't go over it's kinda niche status if it doesn't improve quickly. VR is either too complicated in it's better form for the mainstream or unimpressive enough in its mobile incarnation to catch on ''Nintendo Wii'' style with the mainstream. When we get higher res, clearer headsets with no screendoor effect and no cables, easier setup for movement in rooms and lower PC requeriments or more affordability in PC hardware all together it won't catch on as we need. The industry is making a big effort but they still need to pull off some key moves to truly win everyone.

VR doesn't have to be overwhelmingly intense. I believe designers and artists could create calm and peaceful experiences that don't make your senses soar as much as games, maybe other demographics other than gamers would be interested in that sort of thing. I would love to travel to some VR world while I get surgery done or something.
