Birthday thread: Soundtracks

Recommended Posts

While it's not technically a video game, I would recommend the Homestuck Soundtrack. You probably already have a vague idea of what Homestuck is, as it was pretty prevalent a few years ago and still has a large following if you know where to look. I would also recommend reading the comic, but it's stupid long and kind of hard to get into for most people, so I wouldn't say it's a requirement. The soundtrack was made by Toby Fox, the same guy who made Undertale & its soundtrack. All the albums are available on Sound Cloud; but there are so many that it would cost over $100 if you were to buy all of them, so I recommend only getting a few or just pirating them. Even if neither of those options strike your fancy, they're still definitely worth a listen.

Specific albums I would recommend are Cherubim, Strife, and Symphony Impossible to Play

Specific tracks I would recommend are Cascade, The Carnival, and MeGeLoVania.

I can't believe no-one's posted the echochrome 2 soundtrack yet! Not only did this thing get a world record for the longest piece of music in a video game (its 1 hour 15 minutes long) but it's also absolutely beautiful

Super obscure bonus link - If you're a fan of theremins and guitars, then might I recommend the soundtrack to the PSP game "Otsugea Uranai Na Desu."?

EDIT: Happy Birthday by the way, Ross!

It's not a game soundtrack but it could well be. Reminds me of the Transistor and FTL OSTs.

It features lots of sci-fi/futuristic sounding elements and the mood is very chill – the perfect background music for exploration in a space setting.

If you don't have the time to listen to whole OSTs, here are some tracks from different games that stood out to me:

Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones – MiddleTower / Upper Towerhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zDPr8mcMmY

Risen 2 – Outdoor

Here's something probably nobody has ever heard of: the soundtrack to the obscure FMV game Darkstar. Might make a good Game Dungeon episode too if you can find it, it's got an interesting production history with being made over the course of several years by one guy and stars the cast of MST3K. While the game itself is an utter trainwreck of the best kind tho, the soundtrack is absolutely amazing. Awesome rock music, along with some more melodic and atmospheric tracks, very enjoyable to listen to overall. Now, I have uploaded the full album here, which isn't exactly legal, but the thing's been out of print for years anyway so I doubt they're gonna mind.

Happy Birthday Ross! As promised, here are some soundtracks I love!

I've been playing alot of Xenoblade Chronicles X recently, and the soundtrack is phenomenal!

Also the

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfk-dQceR3Y is pretty great. It has scatting, though, so I'm not sure if that counts as singing to you, but there's just something magical about sprinting at the speed of sound and moon jumping around New LA while this theme plays in the background.

I can Heartily recommend the PayDay 2 Soundtrack. There are a lot of good tracks within the game all filling in either a tense or a pumped up electro/techno track. I'd definitely give a listen to it if you have the time.

I haven't seen this game talked about that much, it's called Teslagrad. The soundtrack is great and it's on Spotify

The Real Texas: This game's soundtrack comes highly recommended. I also wouldn't mind seeing this game on a Game Dungeon, as it seems right up your weird and crazy alley, but let's not get carried away here. You can download the whole thing in .mp3 format just by scrolling down.

Fitz the Fox: This game is a fairly middle of the road platformer. Its soundtrack is easily the best part. I encourage anyone to head to this DropBox link and give it a download. I'll leave it up for awhile.

Yeah, I know you're not too crazy about youtube, tough shit, bro. You get what you get :D

These are from Godfather the game. (The first game)

Most soundtracks for this game are remakes of the original Godfather movie soundtrack so I posted the ones that aren't remakes and I thought were the best.
