New motherboard + faster RAM is cheaper than just the RAM for your old moboard by a significant amount.

Thanks man, I'll take a look at these. I've decided to move into a bigger case (cooler master elite 130) and get a larger psu first, which, depending on the psu, should only land me at about 80 or so. After that, I'll definitely look into a motherboard upgrade as well as ram. I'm pretty stoked. By the end of it it seems like I'll have a top end PC, or at least one good enough for me xD. Thanks again for your guys' help.

You know, it just occurred to me the moboard you recommended is a M-ATX, not ITX, which is what i have and what the elite 130 was for. I may have to reconsider what exactly I'm buying now xD

Ah... You said it was a M-ITX in a previous post, so I went with improving over that.

I gotcha. I think my current plans are to get the elite 130 case from cooler master and a larger psu, move everything over, and then upgrade as I go along. From most internet posts, it seems that the motherboard shouldn't be a problem with moving or anything. But all this has me nervous that I just bought some machine for practically no reason now that I'm having to change everything xD Most success stories have said that moving the moboard was completely fine, just a bit daunting. So hopefully that all goes well.

If not, then that sucks xD

Just an FYI, the CM Elite 130 case is for M-ITX only, and won't fit an M-ATX board in it... M-ATX is nearly double the size.

Try this for a box that'll hold the M-ATX or the M-ITX, is $10 less, will hold a normal PSU without issue, and you'll have room to assemble it without as many problems:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147166 (and it even has better cooling, both out of the box, and overall)

The only con you can put on M-ATX is that it's bigger in physical size than the M-ITX.

Yeah, it being bigger is slightly daunting. I don't really have much room at all, which is why I was going on to get an m-itx. But if this fits both, this seems like a decent deal. I'll look into it. Thanks a lot man!

Whoops, I wasn't paying attention. I have a friend who has a similar looking case and I assumed that it was the same, and it was a big case. I'm looking at a review of it now and it seems actually to be a decent size. I'll look into it some more now

Yeah, M-ATX cases look like the big cases, but are actually quite small.

Tell him/her to upgrade that Cat5e cable to a Cat6A, and that he/she wasted money on those 6 liters of 'heavy water'.

Also, next time the thermal paste needs replacing, have him/her try Prolimatech PK-3 instead of IC Diamond. (PK-1 is the lower performing version, but it still beat IC Diamond in independent cooling tests by several degrees)

Don't insult me. I have trained professionals to do that.

The whole point of his PC was to waste money, he has a sound card and server grade CPU just because. I also don't think he needs any better paste when it runs between 27-30c average.

If he really needs to waste that money, tell him to mail me a $2000 gaming computer instead of buying 'heavy water'. lol

If anyone knows anyone else that wants to waste money on a computer, tell them to come to me... Have them pay me a commission to design and build the system, and I'll make something that'll squash all competition under it's quad-GPU, dual 15-core CPU, 256GB RAM specs.

Quote is from the owner:

"Cat 6 would be better for long distance cabling. Aka one side of the house to the other to reduce transmission noise. But due to the distance to the router being null. cat4 would be just as superior to both cat 5 and 6 cables."

Tell the owner they have a lot to learn about network cabling. (especially since Cat4 will get interference from wall sockets within 2 feet, and fluorescent light ballasts within 20 yards)
