FREEMAN'S MIND 2: EPISODE 11

Here's the latest Freeman's Mind!  Much more of a delay on this one than I wanted, but I hope to have more FM out this month, along with something else for Halloween.  This episode is shorter than the FM2 average, but it's about normal for FM1.  I don't usually have a set length in mind, I just go until there are semi-natural stopping points in the game and build it around that.  There's definitely some longer ones coming up after this.

Oops, I'm blind, I didn't even notice the new episode at first.

 

I wish we had more unique one off Machinimas again though.

WHERE IS HE HOLDING ALL THOSE GRENADES IN???

 

IS HE JUST FRANTICALLY JUGGLING THEM?? WHILE HE'S TOSSING THEM AROUND??

Gordon either fights his way through to the lock door's control room, or just climbs up onto the ledge and enters the lock door's control room.  Then he opens the door after fighting off the hunter-chopper with the Combine mounted guns.  Then he takes the airboat through an extended section where the hunter-chopper drops timebombs down, with a section where you have to drop a washing machine down onto a cage elevator to raise the ramp in between.  Then you finally get to the place with the gun being attached to the boat.

Maybe two episodes away, depending on how Ross does things.

I am kinda disappointed at Gordon just shooting the barrels like it's an accident (from the second time). I honestly was expecting another sarcastic remark on this gamey situation like it was before about barrels, manhacks or famous box smashing room from fm1. Or another mod in like headcrab sitting on the barrels and Gordon deciding to blow it up with infinite barrels to be sure.

I mean I honestly just moved on, I decided to ignore that. It's awkward but, what are you gonna do about it now, episode is already out.

This is like a glorified let's play anyway, so whatever now, I'll just have to ignore these issues.

 

As a whole in the long term, this is such a minor thing, to the point where, you just have to ignore it, otherwise, this is too much work for something which you'll only see for like... ten seconds. He could've had a headcrab on the barrels, but... I don't know, do you really want to wrestle with the Source Engine to do that? I would rather shoot myself, it's a miracle the water hasn't turned purple yet.

 

It would be a ton of extra animation work, just to blow something up essentially.

Sometimes it just makes more sense to just go for the lazy, least painful, but straightforward solution.

 

You could spend like, two, to three hours, or hell, even days to do this properly.

Or you could just shoot the damn barrel and save a whole lifetime of problems.

 

It's a shortcut which, I honestly would've also taken. I'm lazy though, I hate doing extra pointless work, if there's no real point to it.
