Personally, this seems like simply a new venue for black market/dark web money laundering and transactions.
Hypothetically: "Want me to kill a man? Buy me this NFT in that game and sell it to me, and I'll sell it off at some fence to get payed without it getting traced back to either of us."

NFTs have always been about money laundering. Putting it in games is just another way for the big companies to get a lot of money from people for something of limited or no value.

Considering how NFTs are dying atm I don't see it taking off. So far every attempt has just resulted in a ton of backlash.
