It seems Valve doesn't really care about TF2 anymore, which is a shame considering it's one of the most highly played multiplayer FPSs of all time.
yeah i've been playing again for around a month and at least in NA bots are largely not a problem any more. the bigger issue at this point imo are human cheaters. people are very reluctant to kick anyone with items even when they're pretty blatantly cheating.Having been playing the game for the past several days, I can say the bot crisis in casual has died down quite a bit. I see two a day at most, and unless the server's full of them, they get votekicked pretty quickly. I hear one of the mid-July updates broke a lot of botting software, so this is a good start. I hope they can keep that momentum going.
Most highly played I'd probably push back on, I can't imagine it's figures could line up to some of the AAA titans of the past decade, but it is without a doubt one of the most culturally impactful multiplayer FPS games. It seems Valve doesn't really care about TF2 anymore, which is a shame considering it's one of the most highly played multiplayer FPSs of all time.
Most cumulative playtime overall is a potential, though. It kept the playerbase up for years before it started falling into disrepair. Fortnite is probably the only thing that has a chance of beating it, but it'll probably still need to keep going for a couple years. Most highly played I'd probably push back on, I can't imagine it's figures could line up to some of the AAA titans of the past decade, but it is without a doubt one of the most culturally impactful multiplayer FPS games.
Salient points handsome.I think they released some sort of sdk thingy some time ago? I dunno what it was called. But with it there's been like a billion mods announced on steam. Everyone and their mother is coming out with a game mod.
Of the released ones: Only good one seems to be Classified. The others are all weird, cherry-picked distortions of the past or just plain stupid IMO. (Gold Rush and Custom Fortress.
I'm looking forward to Lambda Fortress (Playing Hl2 & other source campaigns but as tf2 classes), Grafton Mansion (Based on a tf2 community map, seems to be the only one that has a story), Open Fortress (Split off from classified a while ago, Arena shooter. Looks interesting), and Fortress-Life (this one's stupid but it's funny. Adds a 10th class 'Gordon Freeman')
All the other unannounced ones are just the same thing of 'Golly lets make a TF2 Mod. but ours is different it's a rebalancing or a reimagining of tf2 from the olden days!'. Those are Rebalanced, Legacy, and Pre-Fortress.
Only exception to those is Fortress Connected which is doing what Lambda Fortress is doing but they're pushing the other campaigns thing more. I just think Lambda Fortress seems more polished.
