FREEMAN’S MIND 2: EPISODE 15

Here’s the latest Freeman’s Mind episode! Sorry again for the delay on this, it’s been because of a myriad of things, but I fully intend to catch up with a lot more this year. Game Dungeon probably next!

One of the most important rules of storytelling is that no matter how fantastic the world is, humans are still humans. If it's a choice between changing Freeman into a cartoon character or changing the way he progressing through the game, it has to be the latter.

The humour partly comes from hearing the reactions of this established version of Freeman that Ross has created. How he would react to these situations. That has to stay consistent. As soon as Ross decided that Freeman can do a pull-up, the decision was already made. This is just a more sophisticated pull-up.

I 100% agree with this man!

Wonder if Freeman will reach Ravenholm in the next episode, I'm greatly looking forward to that! I'm also curious how Ross is going to deal with the talk-a-thon that is Black Mesa East.

You know, I've come to the long realisation that Ross's Gordon is like a ninja. Every time I expect him to do something, he does the exact opposite so suffice to say he's going to do something that none of us could ever expect.

I wonder how different is Freemanverse from the official Half-Life 2 universe. I mean, there's the map changes at least, but just how unreliable is Freeman about what he's telling the viewer? Did he really used to keep his research output high enough despite drinking so much he routinely ended up naked in an Austrian dumpster? Is Kleiner that dangerous? And what about Freeman's guesses about his situation, are they as far off in his world as they would be in Half-Life 2?

Part of the fun is never getting the definite answers, but I'm curious about what I will learn.

10 bucks says that Freeman will have a (relatively) positive disposition towards Mossman. Evidence:

  • Actually praises him for his work in his field.
  • Both share ambiguous moral compass.
  • She knows (or at least sounds like to a lay person) what the hell she's talking about in regards to how the teleportation breakthroughs and theory works.

Alternatively: Given how excited he was at the prospect of disproving string theory back at Black Mesa, he might not take the news that the Combine's portals are believed to be "string-based" too well.
