  1. Just a note - you mentioned Satellite Reign not being able to run at full speed. Its a known issue that the way the devs made the lighting effects it drains a lot of resources. Lowering the graphic settings might help. What's even worse - even the best systems after a prolonged play session start to drop in fps - restarting the game helps a lot. Your computer specs should be ok to run it.
I tried monkeying with the graphics settings, it barely seemed to make a difference. There's a lot of games I'm putting off until I upgrade that I can't hit 60fps at 1440p on. Satellite Reign was mostly holding in the 40s, with occasional small dips down to the low 20s if not the teens. I figured if I plan on upgrading eventually anyway, I may as well put it off for a little bit better chances.

I fully agree. I was genuinely upset when Ross announced that he is targeting 1-ep-per-mo schedule of releasing FM2. Not only will this delay The Movie EVEN MORE, but it will mean much less GD as well.
No, I won't be doing it if it means delaying the movie anymore, it would come mostly at the expense of Game Dungeon. I understand if that's disappointing, but you can see for yourself, we're in the minority.

Hi Ross,I know you said many times that you won't play witcher 3 until you finish the first two.You said you were still "stuck" on witcher 1 and I agree you should play the first 2 before playing the last one.But if you don't enjoy it maybe you shouldn't finish it and just read up on the story of the first game, honestly the witcher 1 is downright a bad game,it has boring gameplay with repetative combat, story is okay but I would explain it as if it was told by a really bad story teller. The second game is a lot better but not nearly as good as the third game.I really think you are missing out by not playing witcher 3 it is a true masterpiece of a game, never in my life have I played a better game.I never even knew that anyone could make an open world game soo big, with no loading screens and such an insanely good story.I mean even if I told you every day for the next year how amazing the witcher 3 is you would still be surprised when you start playing it.I know,I know this is a very "heartfelt" text of a fan of witcher but I just feel like you will never try it,I am sure it will change you mind about gaming in general and what gaming devs can make.
I may just watch a playthrough of Witcher 1, I'll see how I feel about it. As for Witcher 3, I doubt I can even run it at full speed, so I'm not in any hurry to try it out. I think you don't realize how slow my timetable is for getting around to some games. I mean hell, the Darkest of Days game I've been messing with is from 2009. I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually.
  2. I get hit with the concept of people stealing ad money from Ross, and my mind starts chewing on itself.

I really, really hate advertising. It's like a subscription model where you pay in annoyance and, for many people, viruses. About a third of the people who come to my workplace for computer problems have been tricked by fake virus ads. Advertisers are the biggest threat to online privacy in most countries. Advertisers are the biggest threat to getting valid product information and honest reviews.

On the other hand, it's unquestionable that money being taken from Ross's work is money being taken from Ross. Even if one changes the voice work, there's the writing, the enormous amount of video editing, and the brand. Ironically I do respect the value of branding. Go figure.

This is the reason I'm glad there are good online donation methods now.

I hear you, all I can say is I'd be happy for one of those "robot jobs" solutions so that advertising was a less necessary thing.

Here's the latest Game Dungeon! Aside from how long it ended up taking, I'm generally quite happy with how this one came out; this is another episode that's exactly the sort of thing I'm aiming for with the show. I think the only big shortcoming was that it could have had more music, but picking out the right tracks is the sort of thing I practically agonize over for some videos, plus this game was pretty heavy handed with its atmosphere sounds.

Anyway, the next Game Dungeon will very likely be the follow-up episode. I've gotten some work underway on that, but ended up having to stall it due to some additional stuff being added. More stuff soon!

The HUD will still be stretched, but everything else is fixable.

Here's the latest videochat. In addition to my voice giving out a bit, I think I may have rambled and repeated myself more than usual, but there were a lot of good questions this time. More videos hopefully coming this month!

We'll be playing onslaught mode. I don't have an easy guide explaining how it works, maybe someone can post one in the comments. The short version is try to defend our nodes or attack the enemy's (shown on the minimap). You can use the secondary fire on your link gun (the green one) to heal the node and vehicles. The server will probably be up between now and then if you want to test it out.

This is just a quick post to let people know I'm postponing the Unreal Tournament 2004 session with fans for another week. I've been working on the movie lately and getting everything prepared for that would disrupt my focus a little bit. I'm rescheduling it for 2PM EST, February 25th with it being streamed live on twitch.tv/rossbroadcast. I'll have more details on what you'll need in order to join in before then. I hope to make it so anyone can play for free using the demo, but I haven't verified that yet.

Here's the much-delayed next Game Dungeon episode! Like Realms of The Haunting, this is another game I just sort of took a guess on it being a good candidate for the show, and it certainly was. It's probably a better choice for Game Dungeon than any other RTS I can think of offhand. I really was impressed with how the gameplay managed to convey the savagery of war, despite its misleading appearance. While I have many other videos I'd like to get to, I'm going to go dark for a little while so I can make time to work on the movie, I don't anticipate resuming work on regular ones until at least 1-2 weeks. If I'm lucky, I'll have another video late this month. If not, then they'll be more coming for March.

This was actually made a couple weeks ago by the moderator of the accursed farms reddit (again, I've had no involvement with reddit until just recently), but if you have any questions or subjects you'd like me to discuss on the next chat, I recommend posting them here. I'll answer what I can, but if it turns into an overwhelming number, I'll just go with the most popular ones. The next videochat will be on Feb. 4th, 4pm EST at twitch.tv/rossbroadcast. I hope to have the next episode done before then!

This is the last kind of post I feel like making, but I wanted to inform everyone the episode is running late and I think it's looking more unlikely it won't be out this month. If you follow my videochats, you'll know this destroys my intended plans for this month, but some things I can only do so fast. I will say though that this is turning into a pretty good episode and is exactly the type I aim for with Game Dungeon, so at least in this case the delay will amount to what I think will be a better video. It's become clear to me I am not to be trusted whenever I give time estimates on anything, but my current estimate now for the episode will be for Groundhog Day. In any event, I'll get it done as soon as I can!

Well the results from the reddit thread where people could vote on what game to replace Planetside 2 seem to be overwhelmingly in favor of Realm of the Mad God. I actually have no experience in this game other than running it for 5 minutes to confirm it was working. Lots of players seem to think it won't matter if you're a new player or not, we'll find out how true that is. In any event, if you're starting fresh, I will be too. Hopefully the gameplay will be conducive to lots of people being able to join in where I am. Join in on twitch.tv/rossbroadcast on January 21st 2pm EST if you're interested in following / playing with me.

I want to emphasize that unlike Planetside, I will NOT be making a tutorial for this game or providing help, so if you need it, you'll have to consult the rest of the internet on it. It looks like the runner up was Unreal Tournament 2004, which I might be interested in doing sessions of later on anyway.

The latest videos are delayed, but are still coming. I would give time estimates, but the latest Game Dungeon became more involved than I thought it would. It should definitely still be this month.

Here's the latest videochat. Besides just giving some general plans on what's coming up, the main announcement is I'm discontinuing the Planetside 2 sessions, since it's just not as fun for me anymore. The gameplay changes that were made after I made the recruitment video took some of the life out of the game for me. You can vote on what game to replace it with HERE however. Multiple game dungeons being worked on in the near future, at least one of them coming out this month!

Another thread has been setup over at reddit HERE if you have questions or topics you want me to discuss in the next videochat on January 7th, 4pm EST at twitch.tv/rossbroadcast. You can still ask questions by other means, but I'm going to prioritize the reddit ones since at least I'll have some sense of what people want discussed the most. Also, I'd like to request now and in the future to limit any questions to 2-3 max per person.

Hey everyone, this is just the recorded livestream feed of me attempting to beat Supreme Commander for my birthday this year. I think this is first year I haven't been working straight through my birthday in about 5 years trying to get a video done on time, so it's definitely a welcome change this time. Anyway, the game session had some surprises for me, but I think it was relatively entertaining as far as my livestreams go. More real videos coming in the future, but not for 2016!

  15. Ross, how dare you not cover ALL the games? This is something you really need to consider working on. You owe us!

Anyways, on a more serious note, do you have plans to do any more obscure First Person Shooters?

I've always been fond of the AvP series, but I'm not sure if that's too mainstream for you or not.

Yeah, I have a couple planned.

So, uh, are you going to do Hand of Fate and Malcom's Revenge? Hand of Fate has a stupid intro, but aside from that I thought it was a lot more solid than Legend of Kyrandia. Zanthia's a much more interesting protagonist.

    Yeah, probably at some point.

I think it's hard to make these shorter without losing out on quality. These things are really all about attention to detail and full reviews of the games you cover. I understand this type of game review doesn't have a whole lot of broad appeal, but if I'm honest neither does this. This is the same style of review only shorter. If you want to shorten the reviews your style needs to be much more streamlined. You need to go on fewer tangents, explore fewer game quirks and flaws and leave out more superfluous details. At that point you could just make the video 5-10 minutes long and my desire to watch them would drop significantly. The reason why I watch this is because I feel like it's a kind of stream of consciousness game review to an excess. I mean this video is the same thing it just feels like it got cut off at 16 minutes. Like I was watching a full game dungeon review and stopped at 16 minutes to do something else. At this point I have no idea if I want to play this game, whether you like or dislike it or even whether or not this game is any different from a million other classic adventure games. I'll still watch these when you put them out, but this seems like a step in the wrong direction.
Making the videos shorter isn't the goal at all, cutting down the amount of time I have to spend total is the main goal. This one probably feels cut off because I didn't show the ending, plus some games only have so much to say about, I'll probably cover this more in the next videochat.

    Whoever did the volume balancing took it easier than usual;
I did. I put a similar effort in all the videos, but I'm not always the most consistent, plus I absolutely dread that part.

My impression is that this episode is only too short for the type of game that's being reviewed.

16 minutes is plenty when you're covering Construction Bob, Potty Pigeon or Bozo's Night Out. But this is a big game with lots to talk about, and it shows when you have to shoehorn everything in.

It takes about 2 hours to beat the game, there's only so much I could show without ruining everything, I felt like I showed a bit much as it was, but maybe I should stop being concerned about that in general.

Have a Merry Christmas with a new Game Dungeon! I was hoping to have this video out two days ago, but it's not a "technically Christmas" release like some of my past ones! Despite what I said in the last episode, I recorded and edited this one, since I get nervous about handing things to other people when there's time pressure. It's a good thing I did too, since I ended up needing to throw out most of my footage once I realized it was making me nauseous watching it in editing. That gets covered in the video, hopefully it's not too rough to watch.

For those that are interested, check back on December 28th at 12:00 noon EST at twitch.tv/rossbroadcast. I'll be doing a birthday stream where I attempt to beat the last level of Supreme Commander on the hardest difficulty with no saving or loading.

Here's the much-delayed next Game Dungeon! As you'll hear in the video, this is my first attempt of having a collaborative edit of any video. Unlike past episodes, I had a substantial amount of help in the recording and editing process. As for whether it saved time, a lot of time was lost in the transition process (hence the long delay between this episode and the last one), but that should be temporary. The game recording absolutely saved me a lot of time, and the editing did in some areas, not in others. I was still quite heavily involved in the final editing process. I think the verdict is still out as to whether additional editors will save time in the long run, but it's also a little premature to judge since there were a lot of technical complications.

Anyway, expect another episode pretty soon as the Christmas one is coming up, hopefully before Christmas this time!

Updates on everything that's going on. Expect at least two Game Dungeons this month. I'll also be having a birthday streaming session where I try to beat Supreme Commander on hard all in one setting. All important dates and links are in the Youtube description.
