  1. No, jokes like that are avoidable. Ross has a right to remain silent as much as he wants (although I know it's not reccomendable to stay silent for long times) Anyways, I don't see any logic in joking like this when you don't hear about a person for a month, unless you wish them something bad. I find it extremely childish. People are able to express their concern in more normal ways.

Thank you ScottD for replying to me earlier. I'm happy I got attention of two people on the forum, so at least two people understand where I come from. I wish to finish this topic now.

    Unless it occurs necessary again.

In the topic about Wolfenstein I've written a bad taste and brutal joke about Ross's absence. I've been an idiot. I apologize to Ross and Magda. It won't happen again.

As someone who has literally almost died before, it doesn't bother me, but Magda can be pretty sensitive about things.

I sent you a PM regarding the lavalier mic. I wasn't sure if that was the proper method of contacting you about this. I did send you a PM the other day about a microphone that was at a huge discount, but the deal's probably ended by now and it wasn't a lavalier mic, anyway. So, if you haven't read that one yet, just ignore it now.
Thanks, I'll look it over a little later.

I've never actually USED dosbox personally so I don't know the answer, but does it provide 'save states' for the entire emulation engine?
    Nope.

Ross, I sent you an email the other day. It was about mics (I'm not sure how many emails you get/how often you read all of them); I'm an audio tech/music business student so I sent you what I know. Also, don't take advice from live sound guys (well, I won't say ignore it, but take it with a grain of salt.)
I've gotten it, I'm neglecting most email again until I finish the next video, which keeps dragging on.
  2. Concerning "REMOTE RETRO GAMING":

I`m mostly throwing ideas, BUT I think that one crucial step might be hosting games.

If you don`t know already about it, here`s Tunngle -> http://www.tunngle.net/

This software allows you to do exactly what you could do with, for example, Hamachi, in bad old days of not being able to play Red Alert 2 on Internet, and being forced to play on LAN.

It has one crucial difference (and many more of course): neither do you, nor your partner in a gaming session, are acting as a host for a game, to which all others connect, which can be followed with lag or problems with connecting.

Servers are hosted by the company, and there is one server per game! So if you want to play Red Alert 2, Borderlands, Minecraft with someone that is half a world away (tried it, it works):

    1. You and your gaming partner search for a specific game,

    2. You and your partner enter the "room", that is server (interface of the software is of IRC kind)

    3. You and your partner enter the game that you want to play.

After step 3, the rest of the story differs per game, but mostly you need to enter to LAN section of the game, make a game (you need to act as a host only in this part), give your session a name, protect it with password aaaaaand... that is it! Your partner will see your session in their LAN list and you can play a game without any problems that are usual with hosting a game.

There are servers for A LOT of games (and quite old ones too), and who knows what this company is wiling to do.

Now I saw that they made something called "Reviving Classic Games", this might be interesting to you, Ross.

Of course, this may be a step, not a solution to whole "Playing DOS Games over net" problem. But, I think more "impossible" things have been realized.

Who knows, if we pitch in enough ideas, we might begin something new here.

Well this might be useful for other stuff, but I'm specifically looking for "hotseat" gaming, where two people could take turns doing a single player game that doesn't natively have multiplayer support. It would essentially function like a remote desktop, except preferably for gaming.

Hey everyone, just a quick update with what's going on. I'm working on multiple different projects, I hope to have a couple come out this month. The first will definitely be the next Game Dungeon. I hope to have it done in the next few days, it's become more involved and I can say that it's going to be a very special episode in terms of the content.

In other news, I wouldn't mind some advice from people in the following areas:

    CAMERA MICROPHONES:

I've come to the conclusion that I could likely use a separate microphone when recording on camera than the one I use when I'm recording normal audio. I really am not an expert on microphones, so advice here would be appreciated. I'm thinking I'll want a lavalier mic, but I have no idea what are the good models or where the best cutoff point is in terms of price v. quality, so if you're familiar with this, go ahead and contact me.

    REMOTE RETRO GAMING:

For some future videos, I'm trying to set up game sessions on older games (particularly DOS ones) where I can take turns with another person in playing a single player game, except over the internet. My distance from the USA means that no solution will be flawless, so there will of course be some lag, but I'm hoping it could be low enough for less-demanding action games. Many remote desktop solutions are in appropriate for this sort of thing, since they're not focused on gaming, so the wrong data gets priority. And the ones that are focused on gaming are mostly focused on modern games, where the overhead might be much larger than what I'm looking for (a 320x200 screen). Seeing as how GPUs can do video encoding on the fly, this SHOULD be possible, but I'm unaware of any software that does it. So far I've tried the trial version of Kainy (which was borderline playable), and I've heard of Splashtop, although that doesn't have a functional demo for internet use. If anyone has advice for software or wants to try and hack DOSbox or something to make this possible, please contact me at [email protected].

That's about it, more videos coming this month!

  4. It concerns me how much thought you've put into the proper way to run a cult.
Well come on, I try to get into the spirit of the game I'm playing.

I admit, throughout the video, I wondered if Ross was ever part of a cult.
I think I'm basically immune to cults, same for hypnosis. Now that's not to say I couldn't join an extremist group based on rational arguments, but cults largely depend on emotional appeals, which tends to have holes.
  5. The Disappearance of Ethan Hawke (or whatever it was) looks nice, but is more of a demo or an "interactive novella" in vein of Going Home than an actual game. There isn't much gameplay and every object that can be interacted with, HAS to be interacted with to finish the game, so it becomes a frustrating pixel hunt. Definitely not worth the 19.95 they are asking for it at the moment.
    I like your title better.
  6. Honestly, I think this is my least favourite Game Dungeon yet. It's not because it's modern-ish, but mostly because it's essentially a review about a not very interesting game, and there wasn't any interesting facts or much funny parts.
It was more rushed than I wanted it to be, I'm really lucky I got it out when I did. I was noticing that I was being a little too repetitive and maybe should have edited things down a little more. In the future Game Dungeons may slow down some for exactly this reason; giving myself more time to think about what to say. Anyway I think what I have in mind for the next one will be more up your alley.

That said, Wolfenstein is horrifically underrated in my opinion.
I can see where some people would like it a lot; at face value I thought I WOULD like it, but it was baffling for me trying to figure out why I didn't. I probably should have increased the difficulty, but oh well. One game's "hard" varies a lot from game to game. I remember I restarted Dead Space on the hardest difficulty after about 30-45 minutes of playing just because their normal was too much a walk in the park.

I wish you'd please make that Patreon account. I worry about you man. I hope you're not holding back because you think putting in a placeholder account is going to make anyone angry. Think of it as getting the groundwork done. Believe it or not, modern internet folks do understand that supporting the stuff they like simply to get more of the stuff they like is a valid thing.
I think it will be either this month or the next. I'm trying to catch up on a bunch of things and now I feel like I've put out enough videos for the moment that people don't think I've disappeared.

I felt the pumpkins were a great idea, even if it was only for the headshot gag. I assume it's a cheat or a mod, but I was secretly hoping for variation, in that not all NPCs have pumpkins. Some would have eggplants, onions, lemons, etc.
This is Wolfenstein, not Keen Dreams.

Hmmm...Ross according to some of the Youtube comments - which are always an honest and reliable source of information - the pumpkin head cheat is supposedly only unlocked after you complete the game. But you said you didn't finish it! So Ross, are you a filthy filthy liar, or did you figure out a way to cheat in the cheats?
I know some people think editing a config file is the equivalent of magic, but it's not.

hey ross are you going to release videos for download as MKV files like you used to? I went through all the trouble to download and install VLC Media Player
I will for Freeman's Mind, I plan to this month. For Game Dungeon the filesizes I upload to Youtube get absolutely massive, I'm not sure how practical it would be without burning a lot of the quality.
  7. You're killing me, Ross! I'm almost done with the subs for Super Cult Tycoon and now there's another Game Dungeon! XD

I'm kidding. Can't wait to watch this ep. :D

Killing me too, I was up for close to 30 hours getting this made, going to sleep soon. I definitely hope to transition to a more sane pace.

I agree with this for the most part, a serviceable game that's so painfully "not bad" but nothing amazing either.
That's such a perfect way to describe it, it's painfully not bad. It was really difficult trying to figure out why I couldn't get into it.

New episode! This is of a more common game, but I promise it has some surprises in the video, even for me. I burned myself out somewhat making this one, but I was planning to try and change gears for April anyway. Believe it or not, I never got a true break after completing Freeman's Mind, it was pretty much just catching up on everything else I neglected. I wanted to give the Game Dungeon kind of a kick start coming into this year, but future episodes likely won't be as rapid fire as they've been lately.

In any event, once I catch up on the most time critical stuff, I plan on taking a break for a few days. I don't normally have the equivalent of a weekend, I generally just feel guilty for days I'm not working on something. I eventually would like to have more of a work / not-work balance, but we'll see how realistic that is until the movie gets made. I don't want to give any definite plans for this month, but I do intend to work on more videos and hopefully have some more experimental ones come out either this month or the next. I still have plenty of ideas brewing, it's just a matter of juggling everything.

Also at the time of this post, this JUST went up, so it may be low resolution for a while.

More Game Dungeon! Here's a game I knew I would have to cover at some point. It's a shorter episode, but it's for a shorter game, I'm still pleased with how it came out. I want to say this episode is almost half-educational; my mind kept sparking while playing for changes or additions this game needed for better accuracy. If after watching this video, you find that it changes your life, please let me know a few years down the line.

This is just a quick update as I found out a side project I was involved with is being released tomorrow. Several months back I was asked to voice part of a commentary track for a community-made patch to Half-Life 2 giving it a graphics and bug fix overhaul. I haven't tried any of it myself, but from what I can tell, it just seems to make everything more polished:

    Link to the update

Anyway, I had no involvement with writing the commentary track, I only voiced the parts I was asked to. So even though this is Half-Life, don't expect Freeman's Mind-style commentary, it's very much documentary-style. For one line, I actually remember informing the creator that Strife did some of the things he wrote about in Half-Life a few years prior. Anyway, it sounds like this will be the definitive version of the game if you want to check it out.

On another note, check back soon for more videos!

  11. I know that they were never able to fully de-yellow Deus Ex Human Revolution.

    Not so... http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2613528

There are a few different anti-yellow filter mods and hacks out there, and they completely remove the yellow filter. (I don't use them though)

On a completely unrelated sidenote, are you planning on going to World Youth Day next year when it's in Poland? (I am, if I can get enough money saved for the trip)

I saw the screenshots of the de-yellow mod. They definitely reduced it, but it still pervaded everything to some extent. I imagine No Man's Sky color tweaking could be much more difficult. I don't really know about World Youth Day, I've been very busy for a while now, haven't really had any time to go do excursions.
  12. Nice video! Many games to look into. I'm a bit surprised you didn't have Darkest Dungeon on the list, it's a very hard 2D rpg Lovecraftian game. Your characters goes insane and everything, sounds like a real Ross-game. If you haven't heard of it, check it out! It is still in early access but should be great when it's finished. I had to do an account just to tip you about this game.
I guess I should have mentioned it in the video (I did in another one), but I hate turn-based combat. It's a huge obstacle for me, to the point where as soon as I read that a game has it, I keep on looking. I'm sure it's a good game, just not for me.

Out of this list, The Last Door is the only one I've played. I believe they gave me a free premium account (this means you can play the chapters as they come out) when they asked me to make some videos of it. It was a very good game up to the point I played it. Not sure why I haven't gotten around to playing the rest. But if you're patient enough, all of the episodes will be available to play for free if you have no problem with playing them in a browser.
Does season 1 end on a cliffhanger?
  13. I saw two or three that I hadn't heard of, but still want... And you mentioned No Man's Sky... I'm sure there will rapidly be a mod that changes it to semi-realistic colors shortly after release.
If that happens I'll becoming interested in it again. I know that they were never able to fully de-yellow Deus Ex Human Revolution.

"That's the beauty of this game. As the global economy destabilizes, there's going to be no end to the number of expansions they can make."

That's more than a little frightening, and also brilliant.

Yeah well, what can I say, some of these games are less fictional than others.

I really shouldn't watch videos like this, now I'm going to dig myself further into debt when the next steam sale rolls around. Some of these I've never heard of but they do look absolutely fantastic, I am kind of surprised that GTA V for PC wasn't even on the runner up list though, or Alien: Isolation for that matter. Then again I know you said at the end of the video that you probably have a reason for a game I really like not making your list.
I'm generally not big on movie games (I'll talk about that more on Game Dungeon) since I kind of know what's going to happen already. Maybe I'll play Alien Isolation eventually, but seeing as how there's maybe a dozen first person horror games coming out with original themes, it's really nowhere near the top of the list. As for GTA, I've played 3 - San Andreas and just got sort of GTA'd out, not sure why.

The only game on the list I can actually recommend from personal experience would be The Crew, although a lot of the criticism is rightly deserved (and more so in some areas) I still found it to be pretty enjoyable and unique. I really love the feeling of setting off on a roadtrip in my favourite car with some friends and just enjoying the journey. You can spend literally hours just driving around looking at the scenery and always find something new, there are tons of landmarks to visit and a few of them (Cape Canaveral in particular) are very special. One thing about the game I feel is quite divisive though is the handling, lots of people really hate it but personally I kind of like it. I really like heavy, weighty handling, really throwing the car into a turn. Then again I've not driven that many of the cars in the game, once I got the Dodge Charger I pretty much drove that exclusively.
With driving games, the environments are almost everything with me, so I'd be very tolerant of its other flaws, though knowing they've designed a game to die is really a slap in the face. I really hate this trend, we're going to have a generation where a big chunk of major titles are literally unplayable due to short sighted decisions of management.

Here's another video that I thought would be something quick to get out, but ended up ballooning into a project that took as much time as a full length Game Dungeon. In any event, I'm pretty happy with how this came out. This easily has some of the most variety of my videos; you can almost think of it as 25 tiny bite-sized Game Dungeon episodes.

This is a "top video" list, but I tried to keep it interesting throughout. I would say more, but I kind of covered all the biggest points I wanted to in the video itself. While I normally like to avoid dated videos, I felt this one was a little different since I cover so many games even if someone looks at it years from now, there's plenty of good games listed here some might not know about, so it should still have good information for anyone who stumbles upon it. I also feel like this video kind of "exonerates" me from having to talk about new games in the future, since you couldn't ask for more new game coverage from me than this. If you watch this, you'll know about as much as I do.

Also this was my first attempt at using a green screen. It's about as good as I can hope for given my equipment and setup. I actually ended up lowering the resolution of the background a little bit to closer match the picture quality of my camera. I'm still experimenting, but if I have to make another video where I'm standing in front of the camera talking about something, I'll definitely want to do more game backgrounds like this to make it a little more interesting visually.

Anyway, I'm keeping busy, you can expect another video out this month!

More Game Dungeon! This is another video that took WAY longer to make than I wanted it to. Believe it or not, I was originally hoping to have this video done by late January, so that should give you an idea of how far behind I am on things. The little details in this one had a way of just taking forever to complete, day after day.

This is another game I knew I absolutely wanted to cover for the Game Dungeon. I was hoping to have more a "crowd pleaser" following the Freeman's Mind traffic and rather than picking a super obscure game, this is one I'm sure plenty of people are familiar with.

I'm hoping to have two more videos out this month, but I doubt they'll be as involved as this one, though I'll try and keep everything entertaining to watch. In the meantime, there are still openings for more pixel art help if anyone is interested.

    EDIT:

I meant to add that in addition to pixel artists, I'd also be interested in normal artists (or vector art) for more "awards" art for future episodes. I may be pickier about the art style for that however.

  16. I think it's going to be Friday, this episode just keeps dragging on in terms of editing.

    EDIT:

Hell, could even be Saturday, but it's getting quite close, depends on how much sleep I want to lose.

    EDIT 2:

It'll definitely be Saturday, have to finish a lot of 2D graphics, the credits, and volume balancing, which always takes forever.

  17. PS. Will there be a follow-up video for NYET 3?
I plan to have followups to all the game dungeon videos so far. I don't have any hard plans, but I'm thinking maybe April for the first round.

    The way I'd do this:

Ctrl-A, Shift-DEL, "Some of the messages are still unread - are you sure?", YES!

    Regards

Ha ha, yeah wow, to quote Freeman: "I'm not at that stage in my life yet"

Any possibility of a patreon for Accursed Farms?
Later, I'd rather get a few more videos out first.

I assume this is a fairly accurate depiction.
Not a bad guess at all, though it feels closer to this

  18. This is just a quick update letting people know I'm alive and busy. I was SWARMED with emails after the last video, so if you haven't heard anything from me yet, there are still a bunch I need to go through. I'm behind on forum posts and Youtube messages also. If I could replicate myself, I could get a lot more done. We would function well as a team.

There are a lot of promising help offers regarding the movie, progress is being made on it, just slowly. Lately I've been prioritizing the next Game Dungeon episode. I was hoping to get it out before the end of the month, but I don't know how realistic that is now. I think it's going to be between 30-40 minutes total, this one has an awful lot worth talking about. After I'm done with that, expect at least one experimental video to come up and another game dungeon afterwards. If I'm lucky there will be multiple "experiment" videos for March, but I'll just have to see what I can do. Also while I have received a few offers, there is still room for more pixel-art artists for future videos for anyone interested (though I'll want to see an example of your work).

ADHD version: Ross is doing things.

  19. Be wary however: you'll most likely need a phantom power source if you go the condenser route. I'm not sure of your current equipment setup but you should be able to get little preamps that do it for less than 50 USD -- keep this in mind when considering cost. There are some condenser mics with built in power supplies and USB analog to digital converters, but there is no-where as much choice when it comes to these.
I already have a pre-amp capable of Phantom Power. It's an "Audiobuddy". It gives me a very clean signal, although it is WAY too sensitive with volume control in my opinion.

Unfortunately, like I said, this basically requires switching to Vegas or script-kiddy editing via AviSynth or dealing with Virtualdub's terrible interface.
I've done a lot with virtualdub and avisynth before, though I'm unfamiliar how to stream that straight out of Premiere. Even being able to stream from lagarith to handbrake might be acceptable. I might eventually switch to Vegas, but for now I'm at least familiar with all of Premiere's bugs and can work around it.

It discusses the aesthetics and graphical quality of high budget and low budget films while explaining what he had done with his at the time latest short film,
Well this is clearly the work of a madman as he's willfully choosing to disable antialiasing. Regardless, I would argue there's a big difference between a 10 minute film and a full length movie. The closest thing I've done to it has been The Tunnel, but the movie is going to be much more work than that was (though hopefully more productive since I won't have to wrestle with Source).
  20. Mics

You gave yourself a couple of requirements in your video:

    • Masochist to shouting
    • Directional (does not pick up background junk)

Well if I need to shout, my current mic is still pretty good, but for things like game dungeon and other videos, me having to shout is rarer, whereas it's practically a given for Freeman's Mind.

My friends all have said that I have a very flexible sort of voice, it's naturally deep, and I'm female so it can go higher at will.
While there won't be as many roles in the script, given my viewer demographics, female parts will likely have far less competition.

I'll still come back here periodically for the Game Dungeon, but with Freeman's Mind and Civil Protection both being postponed massively, and the movie project taking up two years as an absolute low end, this news was kind of a bummer.
I know man, but I have to pick something and in my mind, the movie will blow away everything else I've done, including CP and FM. This isn't just some experiment, if the movie goes the way I'll hope, I won't be able to top it, I'll just be able to hit similar quality levels onwards. Besides, I'm cool with people who leave for a long time and check back way later just to see if there's anything new.

Now, that being said I really have to ask this question. How do you view your video making? Do you plan on doing this as your career? I mean, if you do I think that's great. You're making money, and I love watching your stuff, so it's a win-win. But all I'm asking is would there ever be a point where you would think enough is enough? I mean, obviously one day there would be, but I'm asking before retirement.
It's sort of turning into a career by accident, and ironically feels more dependable than my previous stuff like computer repair work or any number of hell jobs I've had in the past. As for the future, I have two main goals: Sustain myself and make the movie. After the movie is done, if I get enough support, maybe I could make more awesome movies / series. As for "retirement" the only thing I could absolutely see myself retiring from is animation. I'm going to go all-out on the movie because it's some of my best material, but it's a very real possibility I'd never want to animate again after it's done. Out of all the things I do to make the videos (acting, writing, editing, etc.), I like direction the most, so that's what I'd rather gravitate towards in the long term, but I'll just keep doing something regardless. I don't really see myself stopping to do creative stuff, I just would eventually want more free time down the line.

Also, extra question, are there any other little hints/details you could give away about this movie of yours, or are you keeping it a much better secret than the HECU ever could hope to?
Honestly, I'm going to keep this pretty tight. I'll make some sort of trailer once it starts getting close, but you shouldn't expect more and more details as time goes on. If you want a little more details, I'll give some safe ones: The environment is going to mostly "low fantasy" and not based on any specific universe. It might not hurt to think of this as sort of a "side story" in something like the Tolkein world. The characters and plot are going to have much more significance than the environment itself. I plan to have lots of comedy, but I want it to come from lots of funny situations rather than any tongue in cheek stuff. Also believe or not, the movie is inspired by a small game mod, but it hardly writes itself, I'm taking a game concept I thought was kind of amazing and turning into an adventure / actual story in itself.

i think ross has one of the best voices I have ever heard
    Well, I'm not Simon Templeman.
  21. Thanks for the update Ross.

Can't wait for the movie! A few suggestions:

First, please create a twitter account, or use one you have (if you have it). It's an easy way to gain some visibility and an even better way to make some connections with other like-minded folks. Yeah yeah...twitter....but just think about how easy it'll be to keep your Adonis-like visage in the hearts and minds of your fans. Lets face it...that chest hair DEMANDS attention, it is like a beacon of awesomeness so why not share it with the world? Also, it'll be FAR easier for us, the fans, to advocate on your behalf and to hopefully get you in touch with people who can provide the assets/help/whatever you'd need.

Speaking of assets, i strongly encourage you to reach out to Polatarium, who is working on Shroud of the Avatar (Ultima!!!). The reason I suggest this is they do a fair amount of crowd-sourcing of assets they use in game. Perhaps they can get you in touch with some of that crowd who'd be likely to approve your use of said asset. Also, Richard Garriot/Starr Long are notorious for not only funding of smaller projects but truly believe in both an open dev philosophy and creative works done by those not in the 'industry'. In addition, they have done a fantastic job of crowd-funding, should you ever wish to take a step in that direction. They do a fair amount of interaction on social media so...you know....do that stuff? maybe?

Also, I might suggest trying to reach out to other folks in machinima, but also those who do game reviews and content-reviews online. I'm not thinking you do this to try to get them to plug your stuff, but rather to use for networking purposes as they DO have contacts at various studios who could perhaps lend you some assets/time/experience/grooming skills. And who knows, maybe you make some new fans etc.

I realize that the schmoozing aspect of this movie project is probably not high on your list. I mean, there's only so much conversation about bugs in your beans you can have right? Well... have you considered bringing on individuals who may be willing to do this for you? I know i'd volunteer time and energy to help try to bring people to you. or bring you to them?

The bottom line is that i'm sure, I, like many of us, want to see you succeed. Not just because we want a little ROI on those donations (ok who am I kidding, I didn't give you any money), but because we all want to be a part of what you do in any way we can.

Think about this for a moment if you will. Over the last...however many years you've been doing this, people have found hours and hours of entertainment in a space (machinima) that we know nothing about. We just like to have fun and watch some videos? I know zip about IV17, RGB or any of the stuff you mentioned towards the end of that video. But I do know that your fans likely have some crazy skills in other areas, and that would be happy to help you, for free, on their own time, because...well because our mundane lives can get boring. I know....who wants to ask for help? That shit can be tedious and probably will cause you some stress having to deal with people. People suck, i know.

Just know that if you'd call, we'd pick up the phone, and maybe only hang up on you one time out of five.

The reason I haven't used twitter is I already check the forums somewhat and email, and youtube comments to a lower extent. There's already more than I can keep track of, so adding on top of that isn't really a priority. That and the vast majority of my news posts are just announcing the videos, so the format of twitter doesn't really jump out at me.

I could check with Shroud of the Avatar, but my guess is companies will be much more willing to share assets AFTER production, sharing them beforehand just opens yourself up to a potential liability / leaks that they wouldn't have much incentive to do.

As for volunteers, I'd be fine with more people assisting, but honestly about 80% of people who offer to help I never hear from again once I ask them to do something small first. The flake out ratio can be so high that I have to weigh the pros and cons of getting help v. doing it myself much of the time.

I'm very happy that The Game Dungeon is continuing, though I'm slightly apprehensive about your wish to make it "more concise", as you say.
I basically want to avoid situations where what I'm talking about will appeal to a small minority of people and I'm essentially just abusing my ability to have a sort of soapbox. Polaris Snocross was pretty close to what I'm after. You can check the post of that for what I decided to leave out of it.

For the movie, I know you said you needed to get alot of technical stuff done first, but this is about the soundtrack. I could volunteer to do the soundtrack. You said it was a kind of medieval setting so I guess it'd need to be orchestral. I just finished a short orchestral demo track. I'll only put it up if you want me to.
You can always send me a demo. I actually have someone in mind who contacted me after the Strife video that really nailed the kind of mood I was after, but this project is going to be big enough to support multiple composers for sure. I am going to be somewhat merciless on what music I include however as that has a huge impact on the atmosphere.

I'm American and I've always thought "Accur-said", but Ross pronounces it "A-cursed" in this video and it shook up my world for a second
The dictionary says either is valid.

Yay! All of my questions have been answered!

As an idea, what if there was content created for Accursed Farms? More specifically, content generated by community members, but approved by Ross. It would free you to work on "This Movie" while still being able to keep the community invested.

For instance, Opposing Force and Blue Shift are time lines that occur at exactly the same time as Half-Life. Why not some community driven spin-offs? Not only would it give the community something to look forward to, but also to be involved with.

As an extra, you get some exposure to writers, editors, animators, and voice actors.

    IT'S A WIN WIN!

I had a thought about that before, but my main concern is I'd rather avoid having to reject work that someone worked really hard on, but wasn't to my taste. Besides, Gorilla Gong is growing as a better avenue for that sort of thing, though the view boost is still small for now.

I'd like to echo what this gentlemen said in regards to GD. I much prefer your videos as is, or I suppose the way your most recent one, or any of your past ones are. If I wanted a pointless soundbite with no substance then there's plenty of other choices out there. Listening to someone who's not a shill, or sellout, and who's just as passionate about gaming as I am talk about games, or rage about the evilness of EA is exactly what I want to hear.
The biggest thing I think I'd like to do is make some of the episodes more thematic somehow, though that can drain a lot more time and only add a little bit to the production sometimes. I like how Angry Joe will sometimes have skits that tie in with the particular video game, but besides having limited production means, that's the sort of thing that could take up the time of 2 or more "normal" game dungeon episodes.
  22. All questions answered (sort of)! In addition to my first Youtube video appearance, this is an update for just about everything I have planned for 2015 and beyond. I was hoping to have this video out about 2 weeks ago, but all the little things ended up taking me a lot longer than I planned. While I tried to add some humor, this video is largely informative more than anything else. I cover so much in this video, I ended up providing bookmark links so you can jump straight to different topics (they're in the Youtube description). Anyway, I'm making no promises, but I hope to have multiple videos out for next month. I'd say more, but really this video covers just about everything (for now).

ADHD version: See what Ross looks like! Ross is making more videos.
