Personally I don't really like locked threads... They end up all bunched up together in the last pages, kind of a topic graveyard (or garbage dump). It's not very neat. If you merge them and educate the users (via PM always, I like the one on one approach rather than the public proclamation of your crime), you build up good practices... leaving as markers like you say it's like leaving heads on spears for all to see.

Well, not to play devil's advocate my friend, but the title of this thread and the general feeling of the message in your original post is "Stop complaining", not "Stop complaining all over the place and making endless threads about it". I think that rubbed some people the wrong way. I'll say it again: let's merge all the "Oh, my god, episode X is all green!!!111one!!" and "Where's my damn episode, you machinima.com bastards!!!" threads that are already created onto one, and try to keep the situation contained. It someone creates a new thread, merge it and then discretely (as in PM) explain to them that is best that way... they won't do it again. Same if someone post consistently off-topic complains in other threads (specially the serious ones). PM them (I've done it a couple of times myself) and explain the situation.

Don't get me wrong. I don't "like" it, I was just "using" it at the moment I posted the reply (the poll says "What browser are you using"). My country, Chile (it's in South America, right next to Argentina, in case you're wondering), is no stranger to natural disasters. If you look up the strongest earthquakes in recorded history, you'll find at the top of the list the 1960 Valdivia Earthquake, a monster 9.5 that killed around 6000 people... and just last year we were hit with an 8.8 magnitude (currently 8th on the list) that killed around 500 and cause extensive damage in some of the southern cities... when I remember what happened, it still feels unreal...and we get those every 15 to 20 years. We also have the occasional volcano that decides to blow up all of a sudden, as these images from Puyehue show in a very dramatic way (these were taken yesterday).
