  1. First of all, thank you. You're too kind :D

Now, to the matter at hand. Water damage is a bad thing, but sometimes survivable. Same with the USB connector. That's why I suggested you find someplace where they repair cell phones, since they are used to these problems and have the proper tools (I work at a cellular carrier and I can tell you that water and connector damage are 2 of the 3 main problems we see - the other one being cracked screens, in case you were wondering).

I was researching a bit about your player and found a forum were someone mentioned that thing about the devices being designed to damage internal components if opened, but I suppose with the right tools it should be possible, even if it meant breaking the case... since the main goal here is to patch the player enough to salvage the music, not returning it to full operation.

I wish I could be of more help. Try the repair shop. If none can be found that is willing to take the job, then you have nothing to loose and you should give it a go, tearing the carcass piece by piece if necessary.

  2. But... that's the joke... "There are 10 types of people"', 10 being 2 in binary, meaning "There are 2 types of people".

I'm not sure if you're making a joke also and I'm not getting it.... :(

Ok, moving on. How about this.

A parasite walks into a bar. The bartender says "we don't serve your kind in here." The parasite says "well you're not a very good host."

  3. Depends on the damage. Is it completely busted? Some part of it just came off? Was it exposed to and EMP? Ok, that one seems unlikely, but depending on the manufacturer and level of damage there could be or not a chance to fix it. You could try places were they repair cellphones. Or a licensed dealer. Or if you have sufficient knowledge, try to fix it yourself.

  4. Good to hear from you Ross. I'm downloading now, we'll see how it plays.

EDIT: finished downloading and I have been watching for almost 15 minutes. No frame drops, no compression artifacts, no problems whatsoever. Spectacular video quality, it will give me an excellent opportunity to study "the anomaly".

    I'm using MPC and K-Lite 7.7.0 on Windows 7 home premium, i5-2400 3.10 GHz, EVGA GTX460 SE 1024mb DDR5.

Beyond that, everything I work on feels like a giant spinner I turn to figure out what I'll do next.

Boy I now that feeling :( All those wise advises about splitting problems to their base components and tackling those individually, making lists of tasks and prioritizing them or focusing on one task until it's finished at the expend of less important ones, just seem absurdly theoretical when faced with 30 different things you need to get done now.

  5. I didn't what to do this, but you forced my hand with your scary ass seizure inducing clown

    Go get him, Homer!

Personal note: when in doubt, always take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
