I really don't care for most of today's machinima. I like Ross' work of course. Ray Koefoed is awesome too. As for the other "mind" series... well, Chell's mind is pretty well written. The others, not so much (I apologize in advance if Cool reads this: sorry man, I assume you put a lot of effort in your work, but it's just not my cup of tea). And I refuse to even call machinima the other aberrations you can find in Machinima.com's YouTube channel.

I'm making a piston for a steam engine, and I need a sine function in order to govern how the piston moves via the rotation of a wheel, but I entirely forget how to do this sort of math, I haven't done it in three years.

 

DrivePiston Translate needs to move between 0.489 and -0.489

DriveWheel Rotation inputs a value in radial degrees.

 

I recall y=a*sin(mx+c) but don't remember anything about how that actually works or what the variables are in that equation apart from y and x.

I would like in turn to pose a question for you, since you seem to be an accomplished animator and graphic artist: I recently downloaded the Source SDK and I feel a bit lost as to how to tackle this. Do you have any advice as to where to start? Or do you know of a set of tutorials I should follow?

Sorry for the abrupt change of subject, but does anybody else get the feeling things are going to hell in a handbasket lately? I mean, faster than usual? Just in these last couple of months, we have riots in England, almost debt default by the US, followed by credit rating downgrade, followed by worldwide stock market crash, thousands dead in Syrian riots, etc. Not to mention the world in general is plagued by active conflict zones.

Where does all this rage and craziness come from?

And now, the US credit rating has been downgraded from AAA to AA+, and all hell is breaking loose. Oh boy. I just saw 5% of my life savings (which are invested and not easily retrievable) go up in smoke, with another... mhmm.... I'm guessing 5% this week to follow suite.

Well... It's long term investment. I just hope there is a long enough term ahead for it to recover.

I was playing Doom 3 a couple of hours ago. At some point I walked down a corridor, and this woman started whispering at me. Since I was playing in a dark, quiet room, that scared the crap out of me. I proceeded to save the game, turn on a few lights and the TV and switched over to TF2.
