  1. This is the Coordinated TF2 topic ;)

1 question though, how are we going to get a bigger number of players on the same team anyways. It is unlikely that we stumble on a server where 1 team happens to have 5(random number, I don't actually know how many people would be down for this) slots free.

Ze spectator! That and we'll probably get the rest of the team on our side. Hopefully they aren't too think.
  2. I think this thread is in need of a revival.

I was hoping to have another meetup, but with a different purpose. More of a coordinated attack on a server than a regular game against each other.

If you have any ideas of your own post them here, but these are the tactics I'd like to try.

    1. Extreme Demospam: 1 engineer (and if with enough demos 1 medic) and the rest entirely demomen. Just spam stickies at the enemy spawn as fast as possible.

    2. Octo-heavy. Very simple, 1 heavy, all else medics.

    3. Engineer spam, again simple. Just an entire team of engineers with maybe one pyro is need be.

Almost forgot the time. How does December 3, 1 PM Pacific time sound?

  3. Yeah, I've tried randomizer before and I didn't like it. It was annoying being stuck as an engineer that can't upgrade your buildings because you got stuck with fists. Or how the other team has a scout with a backburner and knife and destroys your team. And how it has to be arena mode. I always get killed in the first three seconds and end up waiting for the match to crawl to it's end.

  4. No phobias for me. I'm not affraid of anything, really.

Except maybe dentists, but they are always all crepping me out.

I don't like spiders, catterpillars and all that shit but I'm not affraid of them. "Affraid" is a strong world to me.

I'm way more afraid of needles than dentists. I've never had freezing (except for a tooth extraction when I was about 7) and drilling's not so bad.
  5. I have a rather incapacitating fear of needles and a smaller phobia of heights but nothing else too irrational. Spiders do creep me out a little but when you think about it, what should be more afraid? A 1 gram arachnid in a foreign environment or a massively evolved mammal 60,000 times it's mass?

  6. It's impossible to talk about Minecraft without talking about Notch, I think.
That doesn't mean the topic should shift entirely to Notch. I'm more interested in other people's opinions about the game itself than the game developers. The TF2 thread shouldn't be about Gaben.
  7. Rarity decided to go to some hideous 24/7 instant respawn 2fort server. For some reason I joined him. I don't think I can play TF2 again for at least a week. It's so depressing. CTF is basically gametype that rewards the defense (a.k.a. everyone) and punishes anybody foolish enough to actually try to capture the flag (a.k.a. you).

Since your entire team of engineers, W+M1 pyros, WC snipers and failspys don't seem to be very interested in actually capturing the flag you try going scout. You make your way past the 2 enemy sentries and finally make your way to the intel room only to find another sentry waiting for you. The only class left with any chance of getting past the sentry armada and sniper firing line is the spy you become another failspy that thinks they can actually play well. What a fun game type.

  8. I don't think I've ever seen a thread U-turn like that out of nowhere. Besides this is supposed to be about minecraft not Notch.

I haven't played 1.0 yet but I probably will relatively soon. The thought of an ending is a little weird for a "sandbox" game though. Even with nearly linear development that normally occurs an ending essentially cements it. Every game I played up 'till 1.94 went. Wood --> Stone --> Iron --> Diamond --> Obsidian farm --> Nether portal --> Done. So unless you play multiplayer with the most of minecraft's psychotic community there's not much left to do.

  9. I've found the speed boost has at many times helped me get away from enemies. It also makes you faster than every class than Scout while you backpedal, so I can turn back and unload on somebody chasing me, WHILE I'm slowly getting away. And I only leave my pocket when I feel like he's being dumb and falling back with full overheal. And I only ever Ubersaw when I know i can win, like with an Engi or a Sniper. I've never been a fan of Medeval Medic because the crossbow is very difficult for me to land hits with (I'm terrible at Huntsman as well). For whatever reason, I'm much better at hitting people with the needles than arrows. And the Ubersaw makes it possible for you to get a final push ready when you have to cap the final point on Attack/Defend in about 5 seconds. The amputator, in my opinion, is a great pub item, but not useful for much else. It can heal an entire team in 1-2 taunts, but it sure doesn't get your team an 8 second invulnerability in a matter of seconds.

When we do competitive, I can only see using the amputator on Payload when people will be gathered around the cart.

If you think for a second that any competitive player wouldn't be able to kill a melee medic in 10 seconds flat you're crazy. For the Overdose, you shouldn't be shooting anyone anyways, so why does your accuracy matter so much? It's also very helpful by allowing long range healing in a pinch.
  10. I just can't stand it when I see a ghastlier gibus medic with the quick fix during set up time .

Medieval medic kit all the way. Overdose is kind of pointless compared to the +1 health per second. The extra 5% movement speed is basically worthless when you're pocketing as you're already faster than every other class than the scout. (which you obviously shouldn't be pocketing)

Reduced travel time to the front is nothing as well considering you won't have any uber or with the vita-saw 20%. For a melee weapon it doesn't matter nearly as much, if you want to go and risk your 60% uber to save 10 seconds go ahead, but not while you're pocketing me. Leaving your pocket weakens both of you. He loses healing you lose defence. The certainty of a properly built uber is also much easier to plan ahead for, not resting on the incompetency of your enemies.

  11. What about metaphysics in particular? I've never been a fan myself simply because of how philosophical, rather than mathmatical, it is. It's way easier to deal with math, at least at my age, than it is philosophy. Math is a wonderful thing, math is a really cool thing.
