  1. The publisher has already gotten money from a sale, why do you think they have the right to take back even more money after the sale? That's like going out and buying a Ford but when you sell it the buyer has to send Ford 10% of the original price? Why is that fair? Why would you defend such idiotic practices?

-edit- I've heard the excuse that second hand sales put companies out of business, well what about the retailers? Why do you feel such sympathy for the developers but then not give a thought to the retailers who's primary source of income is used sales?

Because the retailers profit regardless of whether the sale is a used copy or a new copy, but they didn't make the game. If they sell a new copy, money goes to both the retailer and the developer, but if they sell a used copy, none of the money goes to the developer.

  2. That's beside the point anyway, Do movie companies release DVDs with a code to unlock the special features? The only reason they're doing this is because gamers are such apologists when it comes to defending stupid policies that will have negative effects on them.

I'd agree if it looked like they were actually charging more money for it with brand new copies.

  3.

Indeed, I read about this on Kotaku. Sounds like all people need to do if they didn't receive a code is to contact Warner Bros. customer services department. I assume they'll receive free replacement codes (as they were supposed to receive them in the first place) through some sort of verification process to check that the account the game is used on is the first to have that particular copy perhaps.

I'd be quite surprised if they charged customers for this mistake.

  4. The thing is, they're are making you pay money for something that is part of game. You pay $10 to unlock part of the game because you had the audacity to buy the game used. It's ridiculous and I have no idea why people are defending the practice.

There's a good reason for doing that, if the game is purchased second-hand, usually in that scenario no money goes to the developer for that sale. Yes the sale of the original copy gave some money to the developer, however because that other person is buying it used, it's a potential new-copy sale that the developers don't get.

  5. Like a springloaded launcher that throws glass capsules of magical healing fluid? ;)

    Anywho, new weapon!

    The Bad Trip

A sticky launcher for Demoman, which launches laser trip-mines.

    Proposed stats:

+ Bombs are detonated when laser path is crossed by an enemy.

+ Bombs are %30 more damaging.

    - Bombs cannot be detonated manually.

    - Only 6 bombs out at once.

    - Laser is highly visible.

Is this supposed to be a Black Box with bits of grenade launcher taped to it? :D

  6. I've found the game for around £25 on Amazon.co.uk. If it was around £6 less, then it would be roughly £19. £19 seems a little cheap for a game like this which is new. I don't think the price has been artificially inflated here based on the 'DLC'. I will admit though, I don't know if this DLC thing applies to PC copies as the game isn't out for PC yet, I'll have to check.

I will say though that DLC is just a word here. This seems to be literally 'new copy DLC' that is a part of the game that you only pay extra money for IF you buy a used copy.

  7. I was under the impression that this restriction only applied to used copies of the game. EA's had their $10 reactivation thing for used copies for a while now haven't they? I'm sure I read about a similar system before...I can't remember what it's called. I have a feeling it may be a console only thing for that last one. No idea what it's like with regards to Arkham City.

  8. Friday? Friday's not good for us. Maybe try for the end of the world again in another week? That might work.

EDIT: A link to whoever it is might be useful as well, as I'm not entirely sure who you're talking about.

  9. The Flight Director's job description is very simple it's only one sentence long.

"Take all necessary actions and decisions to ensure crew safety and mission success."

Safety is number one, success is number two.

    This actually makes perfect sense.
