It may have been the DK1. The DK2 has a focus wheel for each eye.

Focusing isn't a problem for me, but I don't need glasses. Did you try both sets of lenses?

As I can attest, having a VR unit myself (an Oculus Rift DK2), it's not the head movement per se that causes the motion sickness. It's the lower frame rate than your mind is expecting. When you have a low frame rate on a monitor, it's fine. You can even watch a slideshow like your avatar here is, Binky, and not have any trouble, but when viewing it through VR, it becomes a problem. Think of it like a boat. Your mind thinks something should go smoothly in a certain direction and it doesn't. It judders and staggers. This constantly makes your brain feel like you're going to fall over, getting you dizzy and sick. Only at extremely high frame rates (probably 90fps or better) could this feeling go away. And to say nothing of what happens in, say, Half-Life 2 where you're walking along and suddenly everything stops moving for the loading screen. It feels like you had the ground pulled out from under you and you're suddenly dizzy. You thought you were fine and the suddenly, That's the biggest problem I see with VR that could be solved in the future--lower frame rates and movement pausing.

I have an issue with itchy skin. All day, every day, random parts of my body itch. Sometimes, it feels like someone is sticking me with a pin randomly. I'm sitting there, trying to work on something, and suddenly, someone jabs me with a pin my shoulder. I have to itch it to make the feeling go away, then less than five minutes later, another pin jab in the back of my left leg. Then again later in the small of my back. The underside of my foot. The back of my head. My stomach. It's been going like this for YEARS and it's driving me up the walls! If I knew what was causing it, that'd be something...

The main thing that interests me with the Vive over the consumer release version of the Rift is the front camera. I envision some augmented reality going on with that, too. I just wish it was TWO cameras; see the world around you in 3D and have a real experience. Even though I currently have a Rift (DK2), I'm looking towards the Vive more. I just wish the Hololens had a better FOV. I envision a day where I can eliminate my monitors virtually completely and work with my programs as windows stuck on my wall or sitting on my computer table, in full 3D.

Belated Christmas present for me from my dad today. I was like: Thank you! It's working like a dream!

It does count as a hit-and-run.

Hello! There are still some Silver Tier winners that have yet to contact me with their list of games. You can see the names of the winners here (the italicized and grayed out names have contacted me with their games): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FlWr3hQqgb-X3LYpD8kWCqawQvrqT7m3i6pj6KxbTxU/edit#gid=0 Beginning tomorrow, January 9, I will begin moving on to the Bronze Tier winners. This will mean that the list of available games will continue to shrink and you may miss out on a game that you want. If any Silver Tier winner has their name grayed out and italicized and has NOT received their game or an email about it, PM or email me at [email protected] ASAP so that your game can be sent to you. Again, beginning tomorrow, January 9, I will be sending out games to the Bronze Tier winners. Thanks! EDIT: Also, if you're a Bronze Tier winner and you have not yet contacted [email protected] with your list of games, do so as soon as you can as well so you can secure your place in line. I will be taking the emails in the order I received them. The list of available games can be found here.

First-person survival Christmas shopping.

He plays the game normally while recording the movements. Then re-replays the recording in slow-mo while transferring it into a movie file.

How old is Chip in Disney's "Beauty and the Beast"? I ask because he seems to be really young, like less than 10 years old. In the song "Be Our Guest", Lumiere says that they've been transformed into household objects for at least 10 years ("10 years we've been rusting"). Does that mean that, as objects, they're technically immortal--never aging? Does Belle's love for the Beast transforming them back to human cause them to become mortal again? Or was Chip born a teacup and transform into a human? And what does THAT say? So many questions!

Your Solid State Drive Drive? Some call SSDs "Solid-State Disks". -
I think it's mostly a head-case. Like "spring cleaning", the turning of the page on the calendar can be seen as a renewal, a "clean slate" as it were. The "past" is gone and the "future" is now. It's all psychological. New Year's Resolution: To do more work and less lazing.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens [SPOILERS]

To be fair, when the original Death Star blew up Alderaan, we didn't really get a glimpse of what that was about either, except for the protestations of Leia and Obi-Wan's reaction. We didn't know much of anything about Alderaanian politics and it didn't really matter to the movies except as a driving force for the rest of them. I hope we do hear SOMETHING about the worlds destroyed by the Starkiller Base in the next films, though. -

I would like to know more about the relationship between the New Republic and the Resistance is, though, and how the New Order arose under the nose of the New Republic. I don't need granular details, but I would like to know more about how they are connected.
