Everything sounds cooler if you add the word 'Quantum'

DjK9GJMBpt0 I'm disappointed in you all for not mentioning this before me. -
Just a quick heads up, everyone. As I said on the subtitles forum, I will be out of town from July 4th to July 9th. If any Freeman's Mind or other AF video is released during this time, I'll get to it as soon as I can upon my return. Back in about a week, folks!
-
I think the progress bar is on the back burner right now.
-
0.3 + 0.6 does equal 0.9.

I voted for the cat/dog option. I like them both and don't really care one way or another. So, um, here's my cat, doing what he does best.
-
You're quite welcome! Bit of an announcement folks. I am going to be going on vacation from Thursday, July 4 to Tuesday, July 9. If Ross releases a video during this time, I will be unable to subtitle it until I return. Please have patience; I will be making subtitles for them.

What is Your Favourite Freeman's Mind Quote/Episode/Moment

I thought he said, "Toro, motherfucker!", as in the stereotypical call a matador makes ("Toro!") when dodging a bull. -
A poem-y thing about steak Steak, steak, it's great to eat And why not? It's made of meat From raw to well done, it can't be beat Though make sure that's not all you eat. Thank you, thank you. You're too kind! Uh, sir. Put down the tomatoes. I have enough--YIPE! *flees*

My in-universe theory here is that the HEV suit provides a Bag of Holding of sorts. Since the Black Mesa Research Facility is engaging in teleportation, my theory is that the suit has a small portal that you can take with you. Stick the weapon into the portal and place it on a convenient shelf somewhere else in the facility. Need the weapon? Stick your hand into the portal and grab it off the shelf. But the real reason is: Video Game Logic

Thanks! For those using these for translation, I apologize for not being able to speak or write languages other than English. I am able to provide explanations of certain lines or how I interpreted certain lines but no actual translation advice. Props to all the subtitle translators out there!

Oh, right. I forgot about that one. Yeah, dunno for that one.

I don't recall a box like that being on that elevator. Every single time I ever played Half-Life, I just jumped down into the elevator area and pushed the button. As for this episode, what I liked the most, believe it or not, was Freeman's shouting about there not being keys in the ignition of the military truck. When I was subtitling this episode, I had to listen to this line several times (I have to listen to all the lines several times) to get the wording correct. I could hear both the anger and even a tinge of worry in his voice. It is this tinge of worry that really got me. I loved it. I too was disappointed that he didn't pick up the hivehand (I understand why he didn't), but I think there might be another one later in the game that he could pickup. I believe it's after the Lambda Core where he has to fight an army of agrunts. Maybe he'll realize by then that the hivehand can be used as a weapon

What were you expecting? freeman_s_mind_episode_47_en.srt
-
Black Mesa, the mod, kind of forced you to pick up the hivehand by placing it right near the button to lower the elevator. Of course, if you hadn't picked it up, then you'd miss the hilariousness. Wonder what Ross's Freeman would say to the animation. Anyway, subtitles are up!

Granted, but now you can't remember anything else, either. I wish I gotten more sleep last night. Less than four hours of sleep will make today very fun.

"Ugh, my head. I feel like all 12 elementary fermions are bouncing around inside my skull, 12-gauge bosons....speaking of 12-gauge, where's my shotgun?" "Rise and shine--" "AAAH! Oh, it's you again." "--not that I wish to imply you have been sleeping on the job--" "Have I been drinking again? It would be just like me." "--all the effort in the world would've gone to waste--" "He's still talking to me. Better pay attention to what he's saying." "--your hour has come again..." Gman just stares at Freeman without speaking... "...what? WHAT?! Oh, hey, do you have my shotgun? I seem to remember--" "The right man in the wrong place can make ALL the difference in the world." "Don't change the subject, asshole! Gimme my shotgun!" "So wake up, Mr. Freeman. Wake up and...smell the ashes." "Ugh, my head....I should NOT have been partying last night. Where am I? Some sort of train... Hey, fool." "I didn't see you get on." "I don't remember GETTING on. Where am I? Hey!" "No matter how many times I've been relocated, I never get used to it." "Uh, yeah. I'm just gonna go over here and not make eye contact. Yeah." "Well, end of the line." "Uh, okay." Gets blinded by a flash from the flying camera "AGH! MY EYES! WHY WOULD YOU....where the hell am I? Am I in Innsbruck? Did I dream graduating and going to work at Black Mesa? This doesn't look like Innsbruck and I--" "Welcome! Welcome to City 17!" "....hey, I know that voice. Oh god, it's him!" (Egad, that went on for longer than I was expecting!)

Most of my "hate" falls under the umbrella of "inconsiderateness". I'll list examples: * Very loud vehicles (if your car is louder than a public bus or tractor trailer, I hate you) * Vehicles with very bright headlights (do you need four piercing blue-tinged lights?) * Groups of people blocking the entire aisle/hall/what-have-you * A single person taking up the entire width of an aisle in a shop by diagonalling the shopping cart so no one can get through, or parking their shopping cart directly next to another cart so no one can get through (similar to above) * In situations where there are crowds of people walking, people that go against the "flow of traffic". I believe that, if the country you live in drives on the right side of the road, you move to the right side of the aisle, hall, sidewalk, stairwell, whatever (and left side if you drive on the left). * Charities asking for donations outside stores * Panhandling (especially in front of stores or even worse, at ATMs) (similar to above) * Door-to-door salespeople/evangelists/etc (similar to above) * Stupidity * Temperatures above 75F/24C The last one is not under the inconsiderate umbrella. I just hate it.

Granted but now everything is all mixed together. I wish I had more energy through the day.

Communism is the idea that there is no private ownership of anything and, therefore, everyone is equal (EVERYONE) which requires the dissolution of the state. This kind of communism cannot possibly work because of human nature.

I'd try to help you identify it but I'm afraid you'll go all Gordon Freeman on me and shout "DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE!"

What is Your Favourite Freeman's Mind Quote/Episode/Moment
danielsangeo replied to Trickiert's topic in Freeman's Mind
I also love the musings that reveal just what kind of person Freeman is. Like from Episode 28: "Hm, I really am bummed they've identified me, though. That means I'm a fugitive now. So, they've probably frozen my bank accounts. I need to get back to Massachusetts. I have about $10,000 in gold buried in Harold Parker State Forest that I put there for exactly this kind of situation. Now, I didn't anticipate I was going to get framed like this. I put it there so in case I got embezzling, I'd have some sort of exit strategy. "Now, granted, $10,000 will only get me so far here. But, if I can make it to India, I can live like a king with that kind of money. The American dollar goes a lot farther there. Maiṁ apanē na'ē bhagavāna hūm̐ . Mērē sāmanē ghuṭanē. I'm going to need a fake ID. I'll check in with Eddie once I get out of here. He can probably hook something up for me. I'm going to need a car, too, but that shouldn't be too difficult. I can just take some motorist hostage with my machine gun and drive to Massachusetts that way. Going to be a long drive." This is a very long quote in comparison to others posted here and probably not the funniest or anything (after all, Freeman is basically just walking through nondescript tunnels at this point), but what I see here is a lot of character building for what Ross is trying to make Freeman into: a self-centered asshole with delusions of grandeur, which runs in stark contrast to the kind of character Half-Life 2 creates for Gordon as "The One Free Man" and looked up to as some sort of messianic figure. I adore that kind of thing. -
The most recent movie I saw is "Epic". 7/10 Couldn't stand the slug and snail characters (and they were in it a lot!) and I felt the villains just didn't have a strong enough motivations, but overall, a pretty good flick. The interactions between the main character and the supporting characters was very good and the visuals and sound were just awesome! My favorite scene: Probably a good movie to watch on the small screen, but perhaps not in the theater.
