  1. Finding pointers is usually just a time and RAM intensive process... CE has an integrated pointer scanner, but I only ever used that once. (used to find an elusive infinite HP cheat in the pre-release beta of Deus Ex Human Revolution, but I never got around to including it in my trainer) I highly recommend using the Cheat Engine tutorial to learn that aspect of the program.

Anti-cheat in ASM usually involves bouncing around the program using jmp commands, and compares. (and sometimes compares of compares) It usually takes a while, and the full ASM disassembly to bypass them, (along with adding a few dozen or hundred lines of code) but it can produce some of the most interesting results it's possible to get. (including hacks the 'pros' don't even dare to try) If you don't have the knack for it, or know what you're doing, ASM can become quite daunting. It is essentially talking directly to the CPU in its own language, and you definitely don't want to give it too many insults, lest it cause certain system-wide instabilities. (or in the case of certain programs, stabilities) There's no extensive tutorial to the language that I have ever found, just a set of basic dictionaries that seem to change sites every few months. I recommend trying to find a site that has a listing of the OPcodes for your specific CPU, (there are differences between Intel and AMD, HUGE differences between x86 and x64, and even some differences between generations and models of CPUs) or just sticking to the pointer scanner. (ASM usually is extremely difficult to get the full hang of)

    Good idea including links.

  2. Duke Nukem or Leisure Suit Larry

Not even close... Gears of War.

"It would be wise to live in good terms with me, comrade Meat." (I'm gonna be impressed if anyone get's this. :P)

    Sounds like Super Meat Boy...

"What did I do?! What did I ever do to you?!?"

  3. This thread is for informing of new vulnerabilities, known fixes, or information pertaining to known Android vulnerabilities.

I'll start off... There is a spam e-mail going around sending an MMS that is designed to exploit one of the Mediaserver vulnerabilities, (probably this one) it's coming from [email protected]. If you get this, DO NOT OPEN IT! Also, do not delete it, as it needs to be reported to your carrier so they have a reason to push a fix to your phone.

As a stopgap fix, you should disable automatic downloading/retrieval of MMS messages in whatever app you use for texting, (here's how to do it in the default Android text messaging app) and install a firewall. I personally recommend NoRootFirewall. (it doesn't require rooting of your phone, can be set to run at boot, is very customizable, and it's completely free)

Also, beware of a new AudioEffect vulnerability... (information found here) No name for it yet, but I'm sure they'll come up with one soon.

  4. Passively reminding BTG that there's an edit button without directly addressing him.

I know about the edit button, but it wasn't applicable since I wasn't changing my response, I was responding again the next day. (nobody responded between my responses is all)

    OT: Taking a shower.

  5. A growing fan. I've made the conscious decision to experience all of it, starting from the beginning with the Original Series. I plan to follow the franchise chronology, so will move to the animated series, TNG, Films, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, and rewatch the Reboot films. It's going to take a long time, but totally worth it.

Honestly, if you think of the Enterprise series as being an alternate timeline, it makes a lot less nonsense.

Do you own anything by Ikea?

No, and I don't ever plan on it.

I did some testing using my mother's Laptop (an XPS L501x, whereas mine is an L502x) and found that her laptop didn't recognise the adapter either. However, her adapter could charge both ours.

Figuring my adapter was gubbed, I got a replacement. Came today, tried it, and got the same result. On both laptops.

This makes very little sense to me, save for the possibility a recent Windows Update has buggered their ability to recognise 130W AC adapters (the 501x uses a 90W adapter. My laptop will accept it, but claims to run slower than with a 130W).

It is quite possible that Windows got a bad update... (or any Dell update) If you went and got Windows 10, I would be even more inclined to say that it would be the cause. Don't do automatic updates, it's the easiest way to randomly destroy your system.

Have you played Fallout Shelter yet?
