  1. 1964 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1964

The last year, of 90% silver coins.

In the first meeting between leaders of the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches since the 15th century, Pope Paul VI and Patriarch Athenagoras I meet in Jerusalem.

In his first State of the Union Address, U.S. President Lyndon Johnson declares a "War on Poverty". (spoiler: we lost)

United States Surgeon General Luther Leonidas Terry reports that smoking may be hazardous to one's health (the first such statement from the U.S. government).

  2. Religion does change some aspects, but should never alter any part of their core beliefs.

Take the second Vatican council of the Catholic Church for example... Mass went back closer to the way it was originally done, in the language of the people, (instead of Latin for everything, and nobody being able to understand) but didn't get rid of the alter or Eucharist.

Not everything goes out of date.

  3. And, whenever we try to imagine a computer confronting a conscious human we invariably find a scenario where it is defeated by the human. :-) Now, this maybe anthropocentrically biased, but it probably is true. And it should hold true regardless of determinism or lack of it in the Universe.

    What do you think?

Really, I don't know which one would win in general myself. Although I'd venture we'd win theoretically because we have free will, I know we're not that special so we could easily be defeated given the circumstances.

    We can't always win...

  4. They faded out because it's basically a lot of walking in between puzzles in a 3D setting... Most people get bored with that really quick. When you add just a little combat to spruce things up, it ceases to be an "adventure" game. (they call it RPG/FPS/TPS if there is any form of player controlled combat at all)

  5. Ghost Recon Phantoms again... Again...

There's a surprising number of people using the multi-shot hack, and the no-ready-time hack... (muti-shot lets you choose how many bullets leave the gun every time you fire one round, and no-ready removes the delay before shooting after running)

  6. Or to cloak, and slice someone's throat... (Ghost Recon is a Ubisoft game)

I find no fault with their game quality, (unlike EA) but this move towards oppressive DRM by the major game publishers is just getting in the way.
