Nope, despite the fact that there were only 2 DLCs, it still bumped the side-quest percentage up to 90.

Side quests are 90% of the game if you have the DLCs... It's also got some of the best scenery.

They did. The only thing that anybody complained about in ME1 was the excess of use of the MAKO. (there indeed was a bit of excess, but it shouldn't have been entirely removed for ME2 IMO)
