    That would be awesome, but considering the current state of copyright, it's 70 years past the demise of the company before they could do that. (since companies can claim the copyrights instead of needing a specific person to tie the copyright to) And since copyright holders make up about 90% of all wealth in the USA, and effectively all lobbying, it's not going to change for the better any time soon.

    A couple reasons...

     

    1. Less expensive for both the motherboard, and the CPU.

    2. Better multithreading performance than all but the top-end Intel offerings.

    3. Better single-core performance than all but the top-end Intel offerings.

    4. PCIe 4.0 capability.

    5. Runs at a lower temperature.

    6. All AMD processors are unlocked by default, so you can overclock them.

    7. Includes a very decent stock CPU cooler.

    8. Uses a socket design that will allow me to upgrade for a long time.

    9. They actually change their processors between generations, so you aren't buying the same processor 4 times in a row.

    10. The 3rd Gen Ryzen processors have incredibly good memory controllers, so you get the best performance out of less expensive (yet still high quality) RAM.

     

    Those just slightly tip the balance towards AMD right now.

  3. Well, I finally got around to getting everything on my system overclocked to the limit...

     

    Ryzen 5 3600: 4.2GHz all-core at 1.35v (this is nowhere near its limit, this is a safe overclock)

    G.Skill Ripjaws V RAM: super tight timings at 3600cl16

    5700 XT: Reference cooler, but overclocked to "on-par" with top-end custom watercooled models

    I see you're one of those CLI purists... A GUI is designed to BE those scripts and one-liners, so you don't have to type them. It's so you can click a button to run that script instead of having to type the script name to run it. You have a fundamental misunderstanding of the entire purpose of the GUI, its functionality, and its capabilities.

    The problem with that statement is that there is no reason whatsoever that a GUI should have any reduction in flexibility, efficiency, or functionality. The only time that happens is if you're incredibly lazy at building the GUI, or if you're deliberately trying to limit its capabilities.

    Even with a randomization of the pattern, it's still just a button pushing challenge. You push exclusively this button and hold it for exactly this long, or you die... That's not a game.
