    It might be the cord, but I would guess it's more likely the power supply inside the console died. They might be designed to fail instead of distributing dangerous surges to internal components like the processor.

    That is the most likely. (that is how all computer PSUs are, and the XBOXes are 98% computer, 2% console)

    My laptop exploded. The battery to be specific, but it did a good job at ruining everything else. Right now I'm on a netbook... with a broken screen... plugged into a broken TV... and the netbook has broken speakers... with a dodgey audio jack... and no money...

     

    Fun story, no? :(

     

    I'm just glad I'm on a computer. I was on an Android tablet until now! Can't even play YouTube properly! Half of the videos are hidden or something. Playing it in the browser... doesn't work... even though it has flash player.

     

    Meh, anyway I may as well give some point to this thread. Has anyone else ever had an experience like this?

    Never had a battery explode on me, even when I recharge non-rechargeable batteries...

     

    As for being stuck using a hodgepodge of POS parts that shouldn't work like it does... The story of my computing life.

    Nothing yet, going to do a little more TF2 now that I finally got the account upgraded to Premium...

    TF2? Upgraded? Premium? What?

    If you're a Free 2 Play person you can't trade anything with anyone. First time you buy anything in the Mann Co. store you get upgraded to Premium, and can do everything. (trading, etc.)

    I was at school... Saw it on the TV in the classroom... Everyone else was in shock, and I just calmly asked why the planes hadn't been shot down before they hit the towers.

     

    I had to be on-call for the next 2 days since I was a member of a Civil Air Patrol ground team. (CAP ground teams are the ones that find the crashed aircraft that Sheriff's Offices take credit for finding, they also do all missing person searches) We had the only non-military aircraft in the air during the country-wide lockdown. I was a part of one of the best ground teams in the country, and had to be ready at a moment's notice to go if I got the call. (they ended up having just enough teams in the area that they didn't need ours)

     

    Once it was 'over', I just said "drop a nuke on them and get it over with". Didn't happen. Once the war started, I said "this will go on for years, shoulda just nuked and got it over with"... 10 years later, still at 'war' without doing a damn thing to finish it.

     

    As a freshman in highschool, even I knew that this was going to take forever without using nukes... :x

    But don't condoms prevent STDs over 99% of the time? And as long as safe sex is the rule, I don't think the danger lies in STDs... Also, most STDs are fairly standardly cured (aside from AIDS, of course).

    I just have to comment on this...

     

    CONDOMS DO NOT PROTECT AGAINST STDS!!!

     

    They have a 99% success rate of preventing a pregnancy ONLY. 99% of the time that they are used, a pregnancy does not occur. (this does not tell us anything about whether a pregnancy would have occurred had a condom not been used)

     

    There is a 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% chance of getting an STD from your sex partner (if they have one) whether you use a condom or not.

    I've removed those mods from the server to remove the temptation to use them.

     

    RTD mod was working just fine up till then... Not sure what happened, had lots of people testing it for weeks prior to the event. :? I have it disabled for the time being, until I can figure out what's wrong with it.

    That's fine, I can accept that.

     

    Just keep in mind that quantity of evidence is not the same thing as veracity of evidence i.e. just because it's lopsided, doesn't make it true. And that there is peer-reviewed evidence that it's possible humans are not causing it.

     

    Also that climate change denial is not remotely the same as evolution denial. The supporters of the latter rely on the use of arbitrary claims.

    As you say, people don't operate outside of reason, but reason differs between different people.

     

    As for who makes the laws in an anarchy, the people do. It's called social order.

     

    How would they define those, majority vote? Would there be a constitution?

     

    The theory of "competing governments/defense agencies" is absurd, no matter how you put it. Steve goes to Government A (Steve is a valued customer of Government A) and claims that Bob stole his wallet. Government A sends there police to Bob's door and says they're going to arrest him and take him down to their police station where he'll await trial. Bob responds that he's a customer of Government B and does not recognize the authority of Government A. What would happen? Here's a hint: whoever can use the most force wins. Remember that a government is an organization which provides a service; that service is to use force against men. I'll let you decide what a competition for force would lead to.

     

    Anyway, I think anarchists try to tell people that their system is a system of "freedom"--but to use force to get someone to do something they don't want to do in the name of "freedom" is absurd.

     

    I think the best way to deal with an anarchist like you is to say, "If you don't want to delegate your right to self-defense to a government, that's fine; that's your right. But if you try to initiate force on me, you can be sure my government will respond and punish you accordingly."

    You keep saying it's Anarchy, but I've never once said anything except RATIONAL ANARCHY. You obviously STILL haven't read up on it.

     

    I said social order, not force. No laws except the unspoken/unwritten ones that everyone knows about. (do unto others, etc.) You have a disagreement, you take the issue to the community. Whoever the community sides with, wins. You don't like it, you are perfectly free to leave, or not bother arguing again. If you murder someone, expect the entire community to come gunning for you. You steal something from someone, expect most of your stuff to be dispersed throughout the community by the time you get home. The law keeps itself though the community, not through a police force.
