  1. But the worst part is... I did this to myself. Long ago, I realized that I had a extremely nasty temper. So bad, in fact, that it might keep me from being able to interact with "civilized" people. My emotional swings were sudden, intense, and violent.

So I chose the only avenue I thought was open to me... the Vulcan Way. All the negative emotions got shunted into a little box where I could deal with them where no one else would see. Side effect: everything else is suppressed, too. And I've done it for so long now that I have no idea if or how I can reverse the process.

Same for me... Best way to get over it: Be actively psychotic.

  2. It's lunch time. So I guess I'll go and have lunch. Yeah, that sounds like a plan.

Not necessarily a good one, but a plan it is.

Right now I'm just sitting here wondering why there are 10 people on my Steam friends list online, but not a one of them is playing on my dedicated server.

  3. My ping was <8, and I had tons of lag... lol

Lag doesn't come from the server, or your internet. It comes from your own computer. Bandwidth usage of a full server's connection is somewhere in the 300kbps range... (I have a 6-9Mbps connection) Divide that by the 24 players that have to be on to get that bandwidth usage, and that's approximately how much bandwidth you use on your internet connection.

  4. Granted, but it's got a new strain of rabies that makes it grow to be as big as your house, have 2 foot thick titanium-niobium alloy armor plates over it's entire body, shoot lasers from it's eyes, fart napalm, and drool acid. Oh, and it hates you, but loves me.

I wish that I was worse off than I am now...

  5. Nice one! Now to see what ping I get.

EDIT: It averages at around 200. :(

EDIT2: But it was fun playing as a Spy with a few people despite my terrible lag (causing facestabs, missed shots/shots that shouldn't have hit that do, and other horrors). :D

lol, yeah... But at least I have a ping of 8 or less, and that's all that counts... Right?

  6. This only applies for certain games. Unless it explicitly states that copies of games I already own in the pack can be gifted, they'll just vanish when I buy the pack. It's been like this on Steam for a long while.

    EDIT: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4502-TPJL-2656

EDIT2: This is what it states if I add the Quakecon pack to my cart. It refers me to the support page and does not explicitly say the extra copies are giftable.

Quakecon Pack 2011: According to our records, you already own one or more of the items included in this package on Steam. If purchasing for yourself, see the Extra Copies support article to determine whether the items you already own can be shared with friends.

That sucks... I must've gotten a package that was covered by that then.

  7. In fact, Republicans simply forced the issue at the least opportune time.

"We'll get to it, but just wait for ten seconds so we can get this debt ceiling raised, then we'll talk about it."

What are you meaning by that? The Republicans wanted to raise the ceiling a little bit to hold off the default, but without any of the additional crap the Democrats were trying to force into the legislation.

  8. Wrong. In capitalism, the government is body with a monopoly on the use of force; citizens delegated their right to self-defense to the government so that they can live more peacefully. The government is bound by a constitution (very important for any government) and its ruling principles are objectivity and justice.

When you do those actions you described, you're protected by the government (the police). Let's say you're eating food that rightfully belongs to you and while you're doing that, some guy grabs the plate from right under your nose and takes off; a government recognizes your right to that food and makes sure the thief is punished according to objective rules and how much damage he caused you. That's justice.

If that were to happen in Anarchy, you would go to one of these "private defense corporations." Another problem with this is that people might make up shit. They'll say, "Hey, this guy stole my stuff! I don't have any evidence it was him, but I'll pay you $10,000 to chase after him."

They might investigate your case, they might not, but one thing's for sure; they will make sure that the guy that stole your food in punished swiftly and brutally. They don't care if their punishment wasn't just; they're a corporation and they made money and they made you happy. If the thief knows you're after him, he'll hire your corporation's competitor; then *bam*: you have gang warfare.

Anarchy is the rule of the jungle and the man who has the most force wins.

You seem to think that everyone is an asshole in waiting... Those kind of individuals are rare beyond belief in reality.

Besides, it's amazingly rare for a halfway intelligent crook to get caught for any crime at all in any existing governmental system.
