But why?

I used to be an adventurer like you, then I took an arrow in the kneeI as well used to think that ASRock is a great combination of low price, good peripheral functionality and feature-rich BIOS, but their motherboards fail me so reliably that it crosses any and all boundaries of statistical uncertainty. I had to deal with five (all different models), and not a single one of them worked for more than a couple years. Last two of them failed one month after the warranty ran out. I swear, there are some engineering geniuses working at ASRock's Planned Obsolescence Department.
Was that also back when they were a subsidiary of ASUS and were relegated to the lowest-end parts? Also, did you contact their support for that barely out of warranty failure, or did you just assume they wouldn't be decent people willing to help you out? I've had a few interactions with their support team, and no bad experiences yet... Heck, I flat out told them that I basically fried my motherboard and CPU due to accidentally setting an overclocking voltage WAY too high and letting it run like that for over a month, and they still replaced the motherboard for free. (AMD replaced the CPU with an upgraded one as well, even with the same story of essentially voiding my warranty)
So far ASRock is also the only one to make Micro-ATX boards for the higher-end chipsets that aren't extortionate in pricing. (like the X570M Pro4)

Fuck games. Linux should just be a tool for industry professionals. The more esoteric, less people I have to compete with to get my next job.
It really should, but games are the ones that would benefit the most from the additional resources, and there are WAY more people interested in increasing their gaming performance for free, hence the use of games as the pushing force.

yeh, it wasn't a mistake
It was to try and limit the number of updates though.

Well this got interesting very quickly... @RaTcHeT302 Has many good points, especially regarding the superiority complex of many of the Linux supporters. (which were very strongly confirmed as existing by @ScumCoder) I grew up with DOS, and am not afraid in the slightest of the CLI, but even I can clearly see the benefit of the GUI for making everything work much easier, and much faster for a user. Even one that knows exactly what they need to do in the command line.
Because of that, I've gotten to the point that I only really recommend LMDE to people looking to start out on Linux after using Windows for a while. Plenty of GUI everywhere and for everything. The biggest thing that people need to learn with it is that you only get your programs from a single app, not not individually from wherever you download them. If you need to add a repo though, that's where it gets complicated. (though not as much so with what comes with LMDE)
Once people get past the learning curve for the repo system, they can usually do anything they want in LMDE, excluding certain Windows stuff. (like most games, or Photoshop) For anyone used to Android as a primary OS, (there's more and more of them every year) Linux is very easy to learn.
I just wish that more games would make a Linux version, as Linux has a significantly lower overhead, causing more system resources to be available for game use. Too bad game designers prefer to use DX12 instead of Vulcan. (despite Vulcan/OpenGL being superior in many ways, and on-par in all the rest)

final final update v2 2032
The last 4 numbers are the year, not a version number.

tl;dw version: Kid decided to cheat (aimbot) in Fortnite. Didn't think he would get banned. Gets permabanned, and he cries that he got banned for cheating.
Isn't that what happens in any modern multiplayer game when you get caught?

So hilarious...

Final update. (I hope)
Nope, have to update for my upgraded motherboard and RAM.
Got an ASRock X570M Pro4 motherboard, and 16GB of G.Skill Ripjaws V 3600 @16-16-16-36.

Worthwhile upgrade seeing as I was going to use the old stuff in my father's build, since there aren't really many μATX motherboards available for the AM4 chips, and I already had one of the less expensive ones. (so it would either be buying identical new stuff for my Dad, or get an upgrade for me)

something about these two i just find kinda funny
at least you won't be going deaf once your AMD card decides to take off
The fact that I got it before there were any AIB cards meant I needed a sound dampened case. So that and some acoustic foam that I use as an exhaust muffler result in a remarkably quiet system.

After giving it some thought, I came to a conclusion that people like you and me might just be kinda jaded, and *normal* people just have a lower "intensity bar".
I guess so... Somewhat sad though, both for us, and for them.

Last Game You Played
in Gaming in general
Posted
Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
It's very obvious the game is incomplete. Only half the armor upgrade system is present. (you can dismantle, but you can't upgrade armor or use the materials received from dismantling) There are many bugs, including them removing lock-on missiles accidentally when they increased the fire rate. Also, many "stuck in terrain" issues. Also, their companion AI is missing right now, despite them saying from the beginning that it was planned. (they just haven't gotten it fully ported over from Wildlands yet)
Overall a very fun game that Ubisoft rushed WAY too hard.
