Star Trek V: Main Title theme - Jerry Goldsmith
As you can probly tell by now, I'm a hardcore trekkie... lol

Or simply don't know how to fix the issue.
If that's the case, I should put him in contact with S0beit... (the owner of the site I'm mod on)
If he knows any way to fix it, I'd say that's a great idea.
lol, even if there isn't a way to fix it in a normal way, I'm 100% positive that S0beit could code a hack that could fix it...

u know, after i saw the episode i had (and i still have) a sensation of being watched... and that somebody's behind me, looking at me from the dark lol.....
Unfortunately I always have that problem... It's called paranoia... Pretty cool actually when you figure out that it actually also works as a 6th sense... (or 7th/8th/9th if you have more than 5 senses like I do)

Whoever maintains the website is obviously not paying attention, for one reason or another.

George the bot... I think "Hal" would be a better nickname...
Except Hal never wrote Russian nonsense.
How bout "Roc"?

As far as colonizing other planets go, well we don't have the tech, the oil or the time to do that. We use up what we have now, and even if we survive and our descendants get through this, they will have no oil, and no means to get to outer space since we used up so many resources.
Oil isn't the only one we will have used up by the end of this century, Helium apparently is also looking at the end of it's time. the largest reserve is apparently at it's last 8 years worth of supply or something like that. Why is this a problem? because it's priceless as a coolant, and needed for super conductors, and in industry.
We have the tech, but the government just won't support it. Rocket fuel actually doesn't contain any petroleum products, despite what the environmentalists will lead you to believe. (I have lots of first-hand experience with various types of rocket propellants, including the liquid and solid types used by NASA)
The moon has massive amounts of He3, we just have to start mining it "en mase" like was portrayed in the movie "Moon". (without the clone problem though)
And from the other thread about the oil shortage:
My sister worked for El Paso Natural Gas Company for about a year, and this is something interesting that she noticed in their files...There is an inexpensive way (less than $1000) to convert your normal gasoline powered car over to Natural Gas. There are many benefits to doing it too. You could easily have a gas line in your garage so you can fill up at home... Natural Gas is one of the few "unlimited" resources we have... It burns much cleaner than gasoline... It is much cheaper per gallon than gasoline... The US is second only to Russia in Natural Gas extraction...
I could say more, but it's early, and I need my sleep...
Think of it, a gas pump in your garage, fuel less than $3.00/gal, less than $1000 total conversion price per household average...

When are you going to make some in 1366x768 mode?!? (good work BTW)
Ask and ye shall receive.

Thank you... 1366x768 is the most common laptop screen rez, might want to add it to your common sizes from now on.

@Michael Archer:
I stated something, you have to disprove it or you're assuming everyone, except me, is you. I know of no legitimate science that contradicts my original post, so please... Enlighten me to these decades of research.
From the looks of almost everything that you responded with, you're merely trolling.
@Axeldeath's analogy to human skin color changes:
Adaptation is not the same as evolution. Adaptation doesn't necessarily get passed from generation to generation. Some do, but most don't, and there are no adaptations that stack beyond a certain amount.
Here's an experiment you can do, try making your descendants immune to radiation... Just irradiate yourself, your spouse, your kids, and any others of your line, and see what happens.
This is about what is being taught in schools, not about what the theories mean to us personally.

I don't agree with your view that rights only extend to rational beings in a social context. Your argument seems to treat rights as though they are a static, singular thing, when in fact rights can be dynamic, with varying degrees. I believe rights should extend to the capacity a living thing has, or will have as it developes. For instance, something that is capable of feeling pain should be protected from being caused unecesarry pain, especially if it cannot protect itself. Therefore it follows that in the situation of abused animals, the government should intervene.
Another +rep... I think I'll add you as a friend...

The infant isn't taking resources from the mother because it *wants* to, so why should it be punished? Furthermore, even though one is dependent on the other, there are still two living things to take into consideration here. Your argument that a fetus is technically infringing on the mother is true enough from a certain point of view, but it does not follow that this invalidates the fetus' right to live, as it has no control over its actions. You say the government doesn't have the right to tell a woman how to use her body and resources, do you then also apply this to the situations that arise after a child is born? After all, it's still infringing upon the personal freedoms and resources of at least one parent if not given up for adoption. Also, you say that rights cannot infringe on other rights, but this is contrary to day-to-day life. Rights infringe on other rights all the time, and yet the majority of the time this does not invalidate them. It's something that will always happen as long as there is more than one person with unlimited wants and needs in a world of limited resources.

All of my responses will be in this color so I don't have to edit all this to be able to hit the specific points.
That said, for most institutions, the market system has proven the most efficient in the long run. State run organizations with no competitors are just as bad as corporate monopolies.
Now, by corporate monopoly, I assume you mean a business that's so successful in the free market i.e. it's able to provide better goods to more people at better qualities at lower prices, that its competitors can't compete. What's wrong with that and how is it bad?
I don't think he's talking about a competitive edge. A monopoly means it is the ONLY company producing a product, allowing them to set any price they want. (like the example he later gave of that pharmaceutical company raising the price of a product from $40 to $10000)
A competitive edge is the absolute best thing that can happen for a product as far as the consumer is concerned, and the worst as far as any competing company is concerned. It usually pushes competitors out of the market, and can sometimes cause monopolies (bad) which in turn raises consumer prices immensely if it is unregulated.
The government needs to set...market share spread through many firms."Market share" belongs to the few individuals who's time and effort is the reason why it's there. It's private property. Why does the government have the right to tell them how to use their own property?
I have a gun, should I be able to use it to kill everyone who annoys me? That's where that reasoning falls apart. The government is only supposed to protect it's people from injustice, and do nothing else. Of course, that never happens for long with all these assholes that inevitably get in charge...
The government needs to...keep cost-of-entrance to the market low. The government's purpose also needs to include regulation of corporations on lower levels. Wage minimums and safety minimums and the like. This does not work. You can't be advocating two completely opposing ideas. Cost-of-entrance can't be low while also mandating wage minimums and safety minimums. Safety standards and minimum wages are expensive. So much for your low cost-of-entrance.
Remember FDR's raise of the minimum wage to fight the depression? He just made things worse! Smaller businesses couldn't continue to run; workers became too expensive.
Low cost of entrance into the market can easily be made to reduce minimum wage restrictions, and benefits requirements for small businesses. It's when every corporation/business of every size has the exact same requirements that government regulation fails in it's efforts.
I agree that it should be assumed that a workplace won't kill a worker who doesn't know the risks. That's why if a person is harmed in the workplace, they should be able to take legal action against their employer. Therefore, it's up to the employer to make sure it's safe. But it's not up to the government to decide what's safe and what's not. It's arbitrary manipulation of private property.
Who do you think should determine the definition of "safe"? Government is the only place legal action can take place, government is the only force that can regulate safe practices, and government is the only one that can make it all come out entirely in your favor.
Hell, just a couple weeks ago a drug company in Minnesota was granted monopoly on an injection-contraceptive drug.I assume by "granted" you mean government subsidies and the government made it illegal to compete against this company. If this is the case, then that's a problem with mixed-economy and government intervention in the free market, not capitalism.
"Granted" generally means "allowed". It just means they were not fined or regulated.
We know that for most industries, the market system proves the most efficient, although inherently evil, as greed and profit are the ultimate goals. So greed and profit motive is inherently evil. Why is that exactly? Why is the desire to be prosperous and successful using the power of your mind "evil"? If evil is that which is detrimental to man, making money to sustain your life and flourish cannot possibly be considered evil.
The opposite of greed and profit motive is altruism and loss motive. Altruism is the theory that the purpose of your life is to sustain other lives at the cost of your own. I consider this to be one of the greatest evils. It is also insane to think that it's a virtue to feed another life but a vice to feed your own.
Loss motive is just stupid and nihilistic. Also, it's anti-life.
Greed is not "to get enough resources to survive/survive comfortably", it is however "to get as much resources as possible without regard for others". Lack of regard for others is about as evil as it gets for humans.
The best system is the mixed economy, a la many European countries. Public healthcare systems are undoubtedly better off run by the people. The European countries with public systems look down on America as a backwards country. Their healthcare costs a small fraction of ours (Imagine not paying a cent for an unconscious ambulance ride that costs $1,100 in the US), is just as good for 99% of issues (the "line waiting" business is right-wing bullshit, btw. If you're having a seizure, you're getting to the ER ASAP. If you have a compound fracture, you're not going to be told to sit around for a couple days. If you have a problem that you need to talk to your doctor about, you just schedule an appointment like Americans do now). What would be best is a public system combined with the market insurance system, a la some European countries. Private corporations compete with the public, and if they can offer better coverage for less, than fucking go for it.Yeah, but at what cost? All these "public" offices are run by the government. The government does not produce anything; their only form of income is taking it from their citizens. Are you advocating robbing one man to pay for the unearned benefit of another? Why do you think you're entitled to someone else's hard earned money?
The wait time is bad. My dad is a doctor in Canada and he says the waiting rooms are packed. One of his colleagues went to the United States for some routine test, just so she wouldn't have to wait four months.
I agree with you on this one. Private healthcare/insurance has always been the best way.

Hm, I should have specifically used the term 'lossy compression', indeed lossless compression can be done n number of times with no loss just like converting from one lossless format to another.
I use lossless audio (WavPack) for my music but I don't really have the space to prefer lossless video.
What is WavPack? I use all FLAC for my lossless audio nowadays...

I only found it useful against some enemies while my stasis was still lame, it could kill in two shots no matter where the spears hit. Very good against the "Roadrunners" until I figured out to just stasis them and take out a leg and an arm with two quick bursts from the pulse rifle (Which was my main weapon before the ripper.).
Some people may hate it but I love the inventory management and upgrading (System Shock 2 introduced me to that stuff a decade ago.), I can sometimes stay at a bench for good 5 minutes planting nodes here and there. Though once I reached the latter half of the game my gear was powerful to the point where the upgrades didn't matter so much to me, I just made quick decision to finish this or that lose end.
It took me going through for the third time to realize the usefulness of the javelin... I started by liking the ripper, but it started being too much of an ammo hog for me, so I switched to the line gun. I usually also carry the force gun and a couple slots of extra ammo, works perfect for close range.

Leeches can be annoying, taking stuff and not contributing themselves. For most of my active torrents I have seeded multiple times the filesize of their content.
Yeah, I always seed to at least 1.000 ratio before stopping if it's a clean torrent. If the number of seeders for a stopped torrent gets low, I usually start it back up so new people can get it too.
-
Any re-encoding results in quality loss, you are applying compression to an already compressed source. The question is whether the quality loss is perceivable.
There are several lossless compression techniques out there, it's just a matter of whether you want more quality, or a smaller file size...
-
Thanks man. Still no seeding but at least it turned blue again. Guess there is just no demand for this torrent at the moment.
No seeding?!? I'm seeding right now... WTF?!?
[EDIT] Oh, you meant you were seeding... Yeah, nobody is DLing yet, they all grab and run...

Same exact message for me too...

I really like when I'm dreaming, but know it, so I can change whatever... Adds quite a lot of cooler stuff to the dream if it's one of the usual boring dreams, and kinda makes my WTF dreams make more sense...

I'm still stuck on the soundtrack for Moon. So love that stuff.
[EDIT] Just switched to Echoes - Pink Floyd
[EDIT2] Now on to Star Trek III soundtrack - Track 1, Prologue and Main Title
[EDIT3] Star Trek: The Next Generation main theme

Occasionally watch movies in the theater for the same price as getting a blu-ray disk of it and a big meal...

I put the javelin gun into the safe in favour of the ripper, I was hardly ever using it. I may bring it back into my inventory in New game+ and fully upgrade it.
Yeah, I found it completely useless until fully upgraded too... That's the deception though...

We'll find out soon, I suppose.
I would actually love one giant game world with no loading times because loading tends to break the flow of the game. If we at some point can achieve more smoother ways of loading the game world, then I think that would create a more intuitive experience.
Wouldn't be as hard as it seems if you can manage to get the engine to load 3 maps in one go, overlay them, and load/drop maps one at a time...
Load map 1 & 2. When you cross over into map 2, it loads map 3. As you cross into map 3 it unloads map 1, and loads map 4.
Rinse and repeat. Easy to script IMO if the engine could do it...
I think that could be the future of FPS games.
That's the way World of Warcraft, Far Cry 2, The Elder Scrolls series, The Fallout series, and many other games do it...

I suspect he made a weapon model for the flashlight, and a pose for the CP model that made it look like he was holding the flashlight.
That does not sound very... errr plausible the way you put it.
How so? I've done it before myself to make it throw a Molotov in a mod I did way back pre-EP1...

I was originally going to post my review of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood here when I get it finished, but I changed my mind... I'll make a new thread for it a couple days after Steam unlocks it.
