The PSP Go tanked because it tried to alter an existing platform. It relied entirely on digital downloads, even though more than half of the PSP's library only existed on UMD. The same isn't true for Steam. Steam has an immense and comprehensive library which has been growing for 7 or 8 years now, and is supported by pretty much every PC developer, with a few large exceptions (Blizzard, EA).
Steam does not have a lot of games. If they're having 8GB of unnecessary RAM installed and they're also allowing Origin and GfWL on there I have no doubt in my mind that there'd at least be a CD drive. Why would they disallow music, movies etc. just so it could be exclusively digital?
Well, it'll basically be a PC, so it'll have an optical drive. I just doubt your claim that a console built on top of a digital distribution platform (one that pretty much symbolizes the benefits of digital distribution) could revitalize retail sales.
I never said it could, just that it might. You never know what the new customer's buying habits will be.

Was on the second page. Bumping.

Wasteland 2, a game that's will be developed by Brian Fargo and his team. I never thought I'd see another isometric CRPG with quality released again. To those who don't know, the original Wasteland was a top-down game developed by Brian Fargo's team, they sold the rights to EA so when they wanted to create a sequel they couldn't, instead they made a game a few of you might know of, Fallout.
Now Fargo has the Wasteland name rights back again and is trying to ride the Kickstarter wave by using fan-funding to develop a game in a genre that would otherwise never see the light of day (isometric, turn-based cRPGs).

There's also the fact that integrating consoles and PCs in a competitive shooter is kind of flawed. It makes sense in cooperative games like Portal 2, but in a shooter, you have two sets of controls which differ greatly in terms of accuracy. No matter how good a console player was, a PC player of the same skill would still best them.
I'd imagine that's why there's KB&M support for the PS3 version. And I'm sure those with only a controller could play on their own servers.

I don't have one, so I have no idea what you mean here. Also I don't see how it is relevant, the PSP Go is a handheld.
PSP used physical media, wasn't a success but it made money.
PSP Go used digital download only. It tanked, hard.
-
Why not? Since when does the console crowd prefer physical copies? I know big titles on console only come on disk but who says the console crowd wouldn't like digital distribution. I mean it's already happening to pretty much all indie games on console.
Ask the PSP Go.

I wonder if it could revitalize PC gaming in the brick and mortar stores as well?
Well, it would be based on digital distribution using... ahem... Steam. I doubt it could revitalize retail games if it doesn't use them.
If they're trying to attract the console crowd I hardly think they'll only use digital distribution.

Well I don't think the point of this thing is to have a game system that is "Fine."
Except having 8GB of RAM would do nothing. This is a gaming system and I can't think of any 64-bit games on the market, I'm sure BTG will correct me though.
will it have its own online network, or will it merge with PC online play? I doubt Microsoft or Sony would be considerate enough to link up with Live or PSN.It runs PC games so it'll be connecting to the network just like a PC would. There's already cross-platform play with PS3 and PC with some Valve games so there's that. It's also able to use GFWL and Origin if you like.

Not really pumped about Dear Esther in terms of gameplay
That's like not getting pumped about the awesome special effects in a book.
-
It wont affect me personally because I already have a beastly PC, but I'm thinking of this as a sort of halfway point between consoles and PC. Easy to set up, requires no technical know-how, yet also has better graphics, is an open platform and allows mods etc. Sort of a PC for the masses.
I wonder if it could revitalize PC gaming in the brick and mortar stores as well?

Please say mod support please say mod support PLEASE SAY MOD SUPPORT
Well it's an open platform so I'm sure there'll be modding. Some of the specs sound suspect though, 8GB of RAM? 4GB of RAM would be fine seeing as 32 bit programs can't use more than that.

just record our lines then send them to you
This. I'll send the VA their lines, they record them, then they send them to me.

but I think that now when BioWare have finished the Mass Effect trilogy they could have more time to work on another.
No. Dragon Age: Origins was Baldur's Gate's spiritual successor. BG doesn't have the brand power that DA has on console so they'd just make DA3 instead.

Bought Saint's Row 2 the other day off steam. After Zero Punctuation gave it a good score (very rare), I thought I'd check it out. The review Yahtzee gave was pretty accurate: it feels more like a true sequel to San Andreas than GTA 4 is.
I did the same thing, except it crashes if I use my Xbox360 pad and the M&KB controls are abysmal.

bashingdoors...
I wish they still had this in TES games, it was so fun to bash down doors with my gigantic Dwemer hammer in Daggerfall.
OT: Last game I played was Nous - http://www.whatisnous.com/

Could you record an attempt and send it to me at [email protected]?
Then all we need is an African American accent, which has been really hard for me to get. We have CptCool taking the main character's role and a VA from a voice acting board doing Engie and Covert Ops.

Art is subjective.
Well I'll be damned.
-
Yeah my taste is limited to good games. Sucks for me.
-
Two questions: What's so awesome about the Mass Effect franchise? And which one should I buy, assuming I want to?
If you want a waifu simulator then you'll enjoy the entire series. If you want a good game then only buy number 1.

85c when gaming
That is really bad. You shouldn't really be peaking at anywhere above 50 and by the time you get to 80 you're damaging your hardware. My friend's CPU used to hit 90c while he was rendering in After Effects and it caused the CPU to burn out within the year.

You mean 'uesrenames' right? You forgot that trailing 's'...

Of course they do. But you're dealing with people who've probably downloaded 1 or 2 games in their life, why wouldn't they continue their buying habits? At least initially?
And it was a hypothetical question. This might not be a success, hell, it might not even be real.
