I think Skyrim in Nr2 its silly, takes away all the credibility of the chart.
People liking a game takes away the credibility of the chart? This is just PC gamers voting for what games they love the most, this is not made by a single person.

Oblivion is just as bad.
I actually have yet to encounter a bug, even tough ive played ALOT. Or maybe i have and i didnt notice it.
Woho for the goty edition?
GOTY edition is the same as the normal edition, it just lacks the extra content. I've put in a lot of hours, both into Oblivion and Skyrim, and Skyrim has been the stablest release they've done so far. It's glitchier than Oblivion is but you have to remember how many patches Oblivion has got.
As is often the case with recent Beth games the bugs are usually of the hilarious kind. On my PC I'm yet to experience a CTD or broken quest on Skyrim, though there is a rather large list of them you could probably find. If you're not a big TES fan I'd suggest you just wait for a big Steam sale so you can benefit from low price and a less buggy game, possibly the expansion packs as well if you can wait a year or so.
Also, roll a pure mage the first time you play through it. It has by far the best combat system compared to the sluggish melee system that hasn't really upgraded since Oblivion.

and the mission packs they made for HL1, Opposing Force in particular, were decent.good gameI like Borderlands a lot
It was worth the $5 I paid for it, but it couldn't hold my interest for more than a few hours. Even in co-op.
Pfffh, Brothers in Arms was greatI did like a few things, like being able to supress your enemy etc. but it felt like I was playing a watered down Company of Heroes for console. It was nice that it had a serious tone though.

After talking to Kirk about Gearbox in the DNF thread I decided to check out what games they've made in their time as a developer.
http://www.gearboxsoftware.com/games/
Wow. They have not made a single good game in their entire lifetime.

Yeah, I think we all can agree that Ross Scott makes the best stuff on Machinima.
Hey now, Kootra ain't too bad.
Don't forget "All Your History".

That's why I was wondering if anyone actually prefers the new kind of lighting / desaturating / tinting. If not, I don't have an explanation as to why they're doing it.
Maybe that's how they're trying to differentiate the two games. Let's be honest, CS:GO is CSS with higher poly models, new textures and slight weapon rebalances. Anything else and the pros would get angry.
My real problem with CS:GO is the modding tools, the entire reason the original Counterstrike is still so alive is because of it's modding community, yet seeing as this is a multiplat release, one where PS3 and PC gamers will even be able to game against each other, what's going to happen to custom maps and custom servers? I haven't played a single match of CS:S on an unmodded server yet I fail to see how modding tools could be incorporated without splitting the community into fragments. Not to mention dedicated servers.

But do you really think people will care? DNF has garnered itself a lot of bad reviews (for good reason) and it became a gigantic joke for everyone in the gaming community to laugh at. Even people like my sister know the name Duke Nukem Forever and know that it's really bad, and her games library consists of Plants vs. Zombies and Skyrim.
People will see Duke Nukem on the cover and it'll be a turn off.
-
Well it's not like they would have bought such a big name only to release a single game. They'll release this one and if it fails as well then no doubt they'll drop the Duke franchise like an ugly baby.
I can't see it being a success though, console's are Gearbox's primary money maker and their introduction to Duke was DNF.

It has now started fucking up again, goddamn it, Im getting sick of this game not working. Hopefully they will fix it soon.
You don't get to complain about bugs with a modded game.
I dont have any mods installed.
Your files will still be modified unless you deleted and reinstalled the game after removing the mods. Depending on the quality of the modder he could have replaced some of the files with his own edited ones. You could have also downloaded a mod previously that required SKSE (a lot of them do and this is a common mistake) which will really bug your game out if you don't have it installed.

Looks like a new Duke game will be coming around 2015. Can't see it selling very well after DNF tanked so badly unless they can build up a fuckload of hype.

Maybe the speech didn't pan out very well.

Are doom and Quake not modern? Are they medieval?
What I mean is that many games set in the present day or a little bit in the future are mostly brown and grey. As opposed to games with a more fantasy setting who usually have a more color in them.
When you said modern games I assumed you meant the time period rather than the setting.
Fantasy tends to be forest green while Sci-fi tends to be blue. Most genres have a set boring colour pallet that looks totally uninteresting. But I do think dirty brown can work if done correctly, take Rage for example. The beautiful bright blue sky with wispy clouds looks incredible when contrasting with the brown rock and sand that the environment is made up of. Much like the Aurora in Skyrim provides a lot of beauty to the rather bland looking world.
It's just been way over done, especially in recent years because of the more "gritty" style of games the large amount of consumers want.

You're right. Scripting games and making them like movies is absolute shit. Your bulletproof arguments beat my crappy strawman ones.
Jeez man, just calm down. If you can't take me having a different opinion than you and being able to support it then you shouldn't have started arguing in the first place.
Your argument was a strawman because you misrepresented my position by taking what I said completely out of context so you can refute it, without having refuted my original point at all. You're not having an argument on Reddit or 4chan, ad hominems and strawmans don't work.

Check out Doom and Quake. This shit has been happening since the dawn of the FPS, it's why I love games like Tribes: ascend and Unreal. And the only reason I liked Bulletstorm.

I wouldn't mind if they added it, but a new gun would be more interesting.
Well there were was that "hl3_weaponizer" stuff floating around in DOTA 2 and Alien Swarm files IIRC. Could be the Grav Gun of HL3.

And yet when you "fixed" my earlier post, you simply dumbed it down to button presses. ANY video game can be dumbed down to button presses if you want to play like that.
The final moments of Half-Life 2? Grab a Combine Energy ball (Right click), and throw it at the core (left click), boring cutscene, GO! (Why is it boring? BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE AND I SAID SO, THAT'S WHY)
See? I can be opinionated, too.
And most people agree Half Life 2's ending is the worst part of the game. When you were talking about the train crash you didn't "epicify" it like you did with BF3, I was simply adding in the QTEs much like you added in "in the ready position" every few sentences.
Why is it boring? All the BF3 cutscenes do is spew exposition all over you in an attempt to link the otherwise totally unrelated missions together.
I called strawman because you're full of shit, I never said games don't need story or cinematics. I simply said BF3 does it badly. In no way has gaming "evolved" from what is was in the 90's and early 00's. Perhaps the only thing that has gotten better is "cinematics"(aka not interacting with anything in an interactive medium) but gameplay and story has gotten progressively worse with only one or two exceptions.
Games need to stop ripping off of movies if they want to be an art form. The one rule of cinema is "show but don't tell" because that is the strength of the medium they're working in. Games are a different medium, they are interactive, therefore their rule should be, to quote TV Tropes
"play, don't show." Rather than the player being told that the Dragon Lord killed your ninja clan and dishonored you by defeating you in a duel or being shown a movie sequence, the player is allowed to act out the journey to the Doomed Hometown and fight a hopeless duel against his far more powerful foe prior to the game properToo bad developers don't understand this concept and think that driving the medium forward would be far better achieved by aping cinema.
-
What have we learned? Storytelling & cinematics = BAD. Games should not incorporate these elements because games aren't about telling a story or making stunning scenes! No! It's all about raw gameplay, and if you like stuff like that, GO WATCH A MOVIE. What a revelation! Glad I finally got this drilled into my skull so I can look down upon such shitty games like Mass Effect, Metal Gear Solid, Uncharted, Max Payne, God of War (Quick time events are BAAAAD!), or any other "critically acclaimed" title that makes use of scripting, cinematics, and story.
Right, so games suck now. Nobody can be satisfied because apparently games SHOULDN'T be evolving to be something more than just one-dimensional gameplay stupified to the level of Space Invaders. That's right, the only way to make games good again is to dumb them down to shit![/thread] [/all hope]
So much strawman it ain't even funny.

Yes he does, that's why you always see his accounts on hack videos. (he needs them to be able to compete)
What's his username then.

Blackburn is chasing after Solomon on a hijacked New York subway train. After fighting his way through several armed terrorists, he reaches the end of the train car. He sees Solomon on the other side of the door, tapping at something. Thinking fast[TAP SPACE BAR], Blackburn climbs out a nearby window and holds on for dear life[TAP Q] on the side of the train. He manages to jump[TAP E][TAP SPACE BAR] to the train car in front when suddenly BOOM! The car he just escaped from is engulfed in a fiery explosion. Momentarily distracted by this, Blackburn looks through the window of the car he is now clinging to, to see Solomon pointing his .44 Magnum at him. He fires a shot a Blackburn[TAP E], which misses, but causes Blackburn to lose his grip. He manages to grab onto the back before he falls off completely. Regaining his composure, he climbs to the roof[TAP SPACE BAR], and begins to slowly creep his way forward to a blasted hole further up ahead while firing at more terrorists sticking their heads out of the side windows, trying to take him out. Blackburn jumps through the hole, and continues on his way. He comes to the final car that is filled with explosives, and an unarmed man. Blackburn readies his gun and begins to approach the man, but as he enters the car, Solomon is waiting around the corner and disarms him. Blackburn and Solomon are briefly locked into a fist fight that ends with Solomon seemingly having the upper hand. He stands over Blackburn, pointing his Magnum squarely at his head. "Are you alone?!" He demands[bORING CUTSCENE GO!].
Fixed it for you.
I'm one of those rare few that actually really likes "railway" sequences/campaigns and QTEs. To me, they make the scene feel much more interactive and cinematic, opposed to a game like Half-Life 2 which could have a really cool scripted event, but leave you in control the entire time. To me, that kind of takes away from the feel of the scene if you're free to move and jump around like an idiot when something important is happening. And in a COD campaign I can stand in one spot for 30 minutes while my squad glitch out because their AI isn't built for doing anything unscripted then decide to walk one step towards my objective and suddenly BOOM BIG EXPLOSION BET YOU DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING EVEN THOUGH YOUR OBJECTIVE MARKER WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF SOME ROAD FOR NO APPARENT REASON. Not to mention the the campaign being so scripted I can't even open doors until the game decides I'm allowed to, scripting in games like COD and BF are just so ridiculously badly done that it removes me from the experience completely.

So Chris Chan released a video of himself dry humping a blow up doll saying 'who's your brony?' and proceeding to show the camera his cutie mark....
He also ate a chocolate cake with his ass and dressed up as a woman to sing cheerleader songs.
I look forward to the day he's behind bars.

I've tried a voice acting forum and gotten two actors. Provoiceboard or something.
