The Ur Quan Masters is a fan made remake of Star Control 2 created in 1992 for both the PC and the 3DO, it garnered critical acclaim and still enjoys a cult following today due to the fact that you can download it free here --> http://sc2.sourceforge.net I started playing it when I found a LP of it on Youtube and it is immensely enjoying to play, it combines a huge open world with an amazing story-line and massive amounts of history and lore to learn. I suggest you download it and give it a go because it really is incredibly enjoyable and immersive. You're able to meet loads of different species and you can hundreds of star systems, why wouldn't you want to give it a go? *DOSbox is not required, it comes with an installer and is totally compatible with all operating systems.

I bought Bioshock for my PS3 because it looked so unique and awesome, then when I came on AF I found out about SS2. Now when I play Bioshock it doesn't feel special because the gameplay is exactly the same as SS except worse, no RPG elements, no inventory, bad horror and far more linear level design.
