  1. Introverts are strange. X3 A lot of people get the definition of it wrong. It's actually kind of piss annoying when extroverted know-it-all adults go; "Oh. You just don't want to go out because you're introverted." Like, duh? It sounds like a massive insult. :I Like apparently there's something wrong with being introverted, something wrong with wanting some alone time. And so many of my extroverted friends at school are doing the same; "You don't want to come with us because you're being an introvert." NO SHIT. XD

There's also a fine line between anti-social and introvert. If you're anti-social, you'd have trouble communicating with anyone really. Introverts are just happier to talk with those who are closer to them, or... talking in a quiet controlled environment - which is why forums are flooded with them. XD But that also means that sometimes you get called an anti-social git for wanting some alone time. Because some people can't tell the difference. Ah well.

Being introverted doesn't affect the way you behave or the morals you have. X3 Being introverted is just being yourself - but in the company of a smaller group (most of the time at least). I probably seem like a total extrovert, because of my open emotions and braveness to expressing myself. But no. XD I'm just an optimistic introvert - that prefers to be herself when there's time for me to type and time for me to think, without being pressured by a group of people. XP

This almost ended up as a rant, but it was on topic to what we're discussing here so I'll just leave it as it is. X3 I'm open to being corrected though.

I'm not entirely extroverted myself and prefer my alone time sometimes.

  2. I just can't for the life of me get it working on Windows 7...

Did you try any of these workarounds? http://greekgeekprick.blogspot.com/2015/02/workaround-for-deus-ex-invisible-war-on.html

The main problem seems to be the game itself. More specifically how it loads levels.

It seems to load levels as separate executables so the Steam overlay doesn't work and something intercepts the game every time it loads a level so it freezes for several minutes, sometimes freezing entirely. It just doesn't run stable enough to be fun for me. I've gotten it to work, yes, but it never worked WELL.

I have tried BOTH the Desktop Composition and Set Affinity trick but none of those have yielded successfull results for me. Mostly cause, man, the affinity thing just is HELL to do when you try to alt tab out of a black screen... and it didn't seem to make ANY difference for me.

ALl of the other solutions in that guide just seem like way too much of a chore for a game that is mediocre at best. I've concluded it's just not worth it.

  3. Alright! I'll do as you say, Ma'am :D

    Subject #8 Anti-vaccinators

In general, I consider vaccine "refuseniks" either simple-minded or ignorant. More the former, because one has to be a bit stupid in these days and age to believe in anti-vaccine conspiracies when you can just easily go and learn what vaccines are and how they work and realise why they are needed.

But of course, all it not so simple. There is a balance of a very small risk of a reaction to a vaccine + its efficacy against the potential damage that an unopposed infection may do. The more serious the disease - the better the argument for vaccination because the consequence of infection are so dire - like tetanus, for example.

For other diseases - like flu - the risk of the damage is low and the efficacy of vaccines is also extremely low, so there is a very poor case for total vaccinations.

In addition, there is also what's called herd immunity - which is basically the group protection that arises when enough people are vaccinated against a disease. In that case even if an unvaccinated person gets the disease, the chances are that he/she won't meet another unvaccinated and the disease won't spread.

What happens when the vaccinations are low - the recent outbreaks of measles in the UK are perfect examples.

So, that's why governments are so keen on vaccinations. However, the ideas like refusing unvaccinated people the use of public transport are clearly moronic. They are stupid, ineffective and unenforceable. They are usually cultivated by ultra-left and ultra-right fringes and normally never get to be even voted on...

Vaccinations are unhealthy for the immune system, I think. Our immune systems are best left to fend for themselves. It's the only way they can get stronger

This is not how our bodies work. Vaccines as similar to computer anti-virus definitions. Your anti-virus will only catch those infections that are included in your definitions file but it will catch them before they can do any damage. If you get infected by a totally new virus - it will deliver its payload before you can find it is even there. Because your anti-virus doesn't look for it - it doesn't have its signature. And then you will have to remove it manually and if it's a crypto - it's way too late. You are going to have to pay the ransom or kiss goodbye to your data.

Same is with our immune system. Infections for which our immune system already has anti-bodies will be dealt with quickly, before they have a chance to spread. But new infections will invade your body unopposed and by the time your immune system responds and creates new anti-bodies, the infection may overwhelm your body's ability to sustain itself and you die. So, yes, your immune system will eventually create a cure but what good does it do if you're already dead?

Take Ebola - a perfect example.

So, no, vaccines are amazingly effective and important tool protecting us from early and gruesome deaths or life-long disabilities. It simply needs to be used properly.

    Regards

I kinda prefer not getting sick with a really serious disease... regardless if it's natural or not...

  4. Protagonist (ENFJ-A)

    Strengths:

Tolerant - Very true. I never judge people by groups, and see all people as individuals. In a world where the media puts more and more focus on groups of people, I feel it's important to remember that we're all human beings in the end, and all capable of the same mistakes regardless of where we come from or what stigma is put on us.

Reliable - Not so much in the past as I would often give up on things if I didn't feel any passion for it. But I've changed a bit and I do my best to be reliable for those who need me.

Charismatic - Not sure about this... I guess it depends on what others think about me...

Altruistic - I generally try to be helpful so this fits me.

Natural Leaders - I've never really been put in a position of leadership though I have been moderator at a few forums and even admin so it's obvious some people see me as useful in that position. I'm generally not that comfortable as a leader though.

    Weaknesses:

Overly Idealistic - Again, not sure about this, though people have mocked me for my opinions on several occasions. I've never been angry about it though.

Too Selfless - I've definitely had this problem in a lot of cases...

Too Sensitive - Deep down I've always had a hard time dealing with criticism, especially when it's directed at me directly. I've kinda learned how to deal with it now, but in the past I had a lot of issues because of how sensitive I was.

Fluctuating Self-Esteem - I feel this is true as well. If I can't fulfill a task or help someone I get a bit bummed out about it.

Struggle to Make Tough Decisions - Definitely, though I've gotten better at dealing with them...

How does it feel being the only extrovert here

... I dunno since I haven't really considered any of you guys introverts so far. :P

Quick! Let all of us introverts gang up on her!! >:D

Come to the dark side~ We have cupcakes. X3

    Oooh cupcakes <3

  5. I've only heard quite nasty things about IW.

    ot: Payday 2

Well... the game isn't bad per se but most people compared it to the first game, and it doesn't hold a candle to it at all...

But on its own I wouldn't say it's bad.

I just can't for the life of me get it working on Windows 7...

  7. Of course I'm fine. I didn't have much of a connection to either my grandfather or cousin and I hate my aunt, sister, and mother.

The only person I'm worried about is my husband who is often working on two hours of sleep and hasn't had the time to eat recently. Working at a mortuary takes a lot of hours from your day.

Ouch, god bless your husband... he should probably get a holiday soon to catch up...
