  1. Fallout 3 felt very numb and PG-13 compared to earlier titles. Children weren't even killable.

I think the fact that you consider this a problem might say something about you. :P

I consider it a problem because in earlier titles, you could kill children, but it earned you the worst karma ever and EVERYONE in the game ended up hating you. Being a child killer was the worst thing you could be in that game.

Instead of limiting the player's actions and making the game realistic, I think they should've done like the earlier games and just punished the player for that. And like Bjossi stated, you would be left with remorse if you killed a kid by accident.

  2. That's what creationists believe about creationism so convincing them of anything else is an exercise in futility. I think all we can do in the end is agree upon that we still don't really know why we are here. I think that's what separates creationists and evolutionists (forgive the term), is that creationists are more interested in the philosophical "why" question while evolutionists center around "how", since evolution only really explains how we became what we are today, which does make sense but doesn't really offer any philosophical satisfaction, and I think that all creationists want philosophical satisfaction and a purpose. They're not interested in whether we have evolved or not, but more about why we are here. Creationism to me just feels more satisfying because in a way it explains a lot more, even if evolutionists, who often are atheists as well, might see it as total bullshit. It's not like I am trying to ignore the evidence, in fact I think it's very likely we have survived as a species because through evolution we have developed skills that we couldn't live without, but evolution does not explain where or why it started or why it works like it does. It's not philosophically satisfying to me.

That's why I think we need both religion and science in school, because science alone is not existentially satisfying to some people, and inherently people are different and have different needs. And I don't think the school system should treat everyone like a standard, but rather give something for everyone so people can develop their own tastes and personalities and find out who they are through learning different things. In the end it's all up to us who we want to be. I think this thread has skewed off as a battle between creationism and evolutionism but I think what it's really about is that people are different and that's what schools should take into consideration, and we should have the right to think for ourselves. If people don't believe in God, then that's fine, as long as it's their choice and not the school's.

  3. Honestly? No, I don't think so. So far the CP series have just been a show without much continuity. Each episode is standalone like in old cartoons. And I prefer it to stay that way. Instead of trying to force his ideas to work within a continuity, I think he should just let each episode revolve around an idea and make it more like a sketch show. That's what I like about it in the first place. But yeah, it is likely he'll make a sequel to The Tunnel, at least I hope so.

  4. Oldschool ASCII graphics ftw! Seriously, it looks like one of those late 80's DOS games you'd download from BBS systems, kind of like Scott Miller's Kroz series. I'll leave it in the Obscure PC Games section for now since I have never heard of it before and I doubt anyone else has. Seems it would be quite popular with gamers who grew up with ASCII DOS games.

  5. Never bothered me. I guess I'm so used to it from playing Half-Life since 1998 that it just became something normal for me.

And we never actually got to see him use any of the cool weapons. Now he has nothing after being captured.

I just realized that Ross never used the revolver. The potential for an "Old West" accent episode was standing on the table with its pants down, for God's sake.

Well, there's still a chance he'll pick it up later on. After all, he loses all his weapons after Episode 34.

  6. In Norway we had a comedian with a really deep voice doing Manny and he just nailed the character in a way Romano never could. But enough off-topicness... :P

    The similarity is definitely there.

  7. I just don't see human cloning as necessary for warfare. You can easily just brainwash your people into going to war anyway with propaganda. Hitler did it. And just thinking about how expensive it would be to fund the experiments behind it would indicate it would probably be way too expensive as well.

  8. Screaming Orange Leaper, my omniscient and omnipotent pet cat created the universe, complete with the illusion of age, a week ago Tuesday. Everything you think happened in your "PAST" is just part of the illusion.

He speaks to me, and has directed me to write the "Gospel According to Leaper, a True and Acurate Account of How the Universe Is and How to Properly Obey your Cat Master, and why Photons are carried on the backs of Infinitely Tiny Invisible Unicorns, and the Way in which Teapots Orbit the Sun." which should be out sometime in 2012, assuming I can gather up enough gold to emboss the pages.

YOU CAN'T DISPROVE IT, SO IT MUST BE TRUE.

    OBEY THE CAT GOD.

Ceiling cat watches you masturbate... :)

So anyway, for me it could make sense that the universe might as well be infinite, but on the other hand, that's just way too big for me to grasp.

  9. Portal

    - Too short. The game can be completed in less than 3 hours.

    - Chell, like Freeman, has zero personality and feels like a bland shell (pardon the pun) for the player. While this philosophy closely mimicks that of id Software, I think people want strong characters and I don't feel Chell is any character at all. This also goes for Portal 2. Though not really a good criticism since it's a matter of taste and it doesn't really affect the game.

    Fallout 3

    - Lack of adult content. What classified the earlier Fallouts, especially 2, was just the amount of sexual and violent content in the game. It felt free and open because of it. In Fallout 2 you could even as a female char become a porn star. How cool is that? Fallout 3 felt very numb and PG-13 compared to earlier titles. Children weren't even killable.

    - No burst fire on the combat shotgun. The original combat shotgun from Fallout 2 had an automatic burst fire mode which made the combat shotgun my favourite weapon in that game. While it consumed ammo heavily, it was just such a cool way of slaughtering opponents. Really miss that in Fallout 3.

    - The violent Bloody Mess perk is not available from the start like in earlier games. Here it's unlocked much later. I feel this ruins the early part of the game and it should've been possible to make it a menu option or make it available from the beginning. A lot of other perks faced the same fate.

    - The facial animation looks terrible.

    - The constant green smoke didn't bother me so much to begin with but now playing with the patch that removed it, I can clearly see it makes the game look terrible.

    - The game engine is terribly glitchy and will crash at random or glitches happen in-game such as objects flying all over the place in glitch-mode or getting stuck in the terrain.

    - The semi-turnbased VAC is a joke and is purely for show. I hardly use it.
