  1. Toy Story 3 Disney sequels have had a tendency to suck lately. I mean, they totally ruined some of their best movies by making direct-to-video sequels that they somehow dubbed "Video Classics". What bullshit, right? Either way, I was clearly having rather low expectations when watching Toy Story 3 as I was very skeptical to it. I imagined they would ruin the franchise with it. But in the end, perhaps it was those low expectations that made it even more enjoyable for me. A lot of the time I find that having low expectations when watching movies can make them slightly more enjoyable. For example, the Doom movie was one I knew wasn't going to be anything like the games simply because I had heard it, so I didn't expect that. And it was fairly enjoyable as a dumb scifi action thriller. And everyone likes to bitch about Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, yet I somehow enjoy that one the most of all the Indiana Jones flicks because I initially watched it with low expectations. They can be to your advantage a lot of the time... But I digress, let's get to the point. Toy Story 3 is basically taking place several years after Toy Story 2, a very natural time placement actually since a lot of us who have grown up with Toy Story are grownups ourselves now. Andy is now a young man, having sold most of his toys from the earlier flicks, and has to go to college. The toys he hasn't gotten rid of, mostly the main characters from earlier movies, are worried that Andy is going to throw them in the thrash when he leaves and this leaves to a lot of confusion when Andy is putting them in a garbage sack to put them in the attic, but his mother believes they are trash and they end up being taken away. I won't spoil too much if you haven't seen the movie already but they somehow end up at a daycare center where everything seems to be perfect for them, however they soon learn its dark secrets, and believe me, this movie comes close to being genuinely dark and creepy at times, much darker than any of the earlier Toy Story films. Overall, that was what I really enjoyed about Toy Story 3. It feels mature and adult in comparison to the earlier films, just like how those who grew up with these movies undoubtedly ARE more adult now. Though that's not to say it doesn't have laughs as well. A lot of moments and quotes are simply comedic gold from this movie and believe me, I have never in my life laughed so much at an animated feature before. And that is just how I can explain Toy Story 3, it's a thrillride of emotions. It's very emotionally strong and potent and will make you shiver in fear, laugh your ass off and in the end, if you are soft enough, cry like you have never cried before, which was exactly what happened to me. All in all, it had enjoyable characters, great moments and a perfect structure. And the ending was ingenious... Highly recommended if you want the final Toy Story, as I can imagine this is the end of the franchise for now, which is probably for the best. I can't see how they can top this one...
  2. You have a mic hooked up to your computer? That and the pre-Vista sound recorder that came with windows (ever since Win 3.1) are all you need to become a recording studio. If you need the program, I can e-mail it to you... It's less than 500kb. As I said, the guitar is in a basement somewhere since I left it behind with some of my other stuff and I've never owned any amp. Besides, I don't wanna do a half assed mic job because that would sort of ruin the whole point of the song for me.
  3. There just are better choices for PC, and Halo 1 is outdated (overpowered Scope Pistol FTW). I played on the PC and Xbox, and I'll agree the experience wasn't the same, nothing particularly different except PC version was very moder friendly.I would personally love to see Halo 3 come out for the PC, but I'm pretty sure that will not happen for a very long time (if ever). Yes, I always had the feeling the first Halo became popular because it was one of the XBox killer apps and made it popular to have large multiplayer deathmatches with XBox consoles, and brought that trend to consoles. There were some design choices in Halo that simply annoyed me too much for me to truly enjoy the game.
  4. I have probably 3 games that use GfWL and I run all of them with the Steam overlay. Says a lot.
  5. I would if I had any recording equipment. And my guitar is in a basement somewhere... I just learned to play it back when I lived at my mother's place. I would be playing Red Alert, put on Hell March and during breaks I would break out to it with my guitar.
  6. I have the PoP movie on BluRay but I have yet to watch it. I fear for the worst with my experience in Video Game based flicks.
  7. Babylon Zoo - Spaceman (Radio Edit) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iCn7SNlM78&feature=related
  8. Top 5 ended TV shows: 1. X-Files 2. Babylon 5 3. Twin Peaks 4. The Twilight Zone 5. Beavis & Butt-Head Top 5 current TV shows: 1. House MD 2. Mythbusters 3. Robot Chicken (hope to god they make another season) 4. South Park (still going strong) 5. The Big Bang Theory
  9. I only have the first one on PC and I find it kinda hard to get into. I dunno why, I just don't like it that much. But I'll admit it's a pretty solid title. I like the Grindhouse feel of the games. Makes me feel like I'm in Planet Terror style b-movie, just more playable.
  10. Would the fact I can play Hell March on my electric guitar raise my awesome-level slightly?
  11. They also made BlackThorne, a very badass take on the Prince of Persia style of action games. And they made Oni and Marathon. And Metroid! You'd be surprised to learn that most of the NES games published by LJN were made by Rare, such as Nightmare on Elm Street and X-Men... yeah, they've come a long way since then... And they made GoldenEye and Perfect Dark as well. Resident Evil. Megaman. Their Nintendo Disney games. I can just throw out names all day. End of line: They're awesome. And Steam. Not really a game but they deserve credit for it.
  12. I so want to be one of them. I'd give my ass to Duke any day. Here's a throwback: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/plucked-from-duke-nukem/712628
  13. Me and a friend played a lot of UT2004 when he was here. It's fun and it runs smoothly on our computers even on the highest settings.
  14. Righto, ol' chap. Would you fancy some scones with that tea, ya old buggah?
  15. Now that's a masterpiece. I might frame it.
  16. I agree. What they tried with JJ3 though, in the beta, was to make it like Super Mario 64, which just doesn't work for it.
  17. I agree about Unreal. It's one of the best games of the 90's because it felt epic and truly lived up to their name.
  18. I've tried a beta of JJ3D. It wasn't bad, but rather mediocre. The transition just wasn't that good.
  19. I couldn't tell why, though I'm sure he is aware of why as I doubt they would remove his mod status without telling him why.
  20. I'd still list Unreal as one of the darn most impressive FPS games of the 90's. The AI at the time was stunning.
  21. Knowing Valve's penchant for mysteries, yes. Be certain of it. Yes, he reminds me of R2D2 on steroids. The advisors are probably immensely powerful as well and could probably make your head explode like that scene in Scanners.
  22. Seems like a typical cult classic to me. In the sense that it's not very famous but those who have played it and like it love it immensely.
  23. Obviously. It's going to take more skills than I have at least.
