  1. Actually I'm playing a hl2 mod - The Nightmare House series. It's very good, very scary. Not quite Amnesia: The Dark Descent Scary, but it's made me jump several times. I'm still in the first one cuz I can only play it in 20 minute increments.

Can't wait for Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Portal 2 to come out.. and Fear 3... and Crysis 2.... and Duke Nukem Forever... and Mass Effect 3... and Bioshock Infininte... and Dead Island... and I am alive...

Why can't time move faster!!? DAMN YOU TIME!!! *shakes fist at sky*

I know how you feel. Oh well, I'm killing time by playing all the Duke Nukem games I own.

  2. Some of my favorite games in the world have terrible graphics. Sometimes I have trouble distinguishing between people and the scenery it's so bad (playstation 1 ftw). However, the gameplay and storyline just keep me latched into the game, and so graphics to me aren't very important at all.

It's all about story and gameplay... more so story because I made it through Mirror's Edge just to see what happened. I don't think I've ever cursed so much at a single video game.

Mirror's Edge is a good game, just a bit difficult.

  3. That was before my time but I would think of it as a gaming console AND a home computer.

That's actually pretty damn correct. It had hardware that made it perfect for gaming, and it was technically superior to the IBM PC's, despite being an 8bit computer.

  4. No matter how safe and stable a nuclear plant is, it's still no match for a natural disaster. It'll be Chernobyl all over again, and we cannot blame anyone this time.

Except for the people who had it built in the first place.

Well is there any alternative source of power for Japan? I mean they really need nuclear reactors to support their massive power needs, other energy sources might be insufficient.

I suppose that is the sad reality, yes.

  5. I have seen people call desktop computers just "computers" and gaming consoles just "consoles", as if the consoles are not computers.

People get definitions messed up but you still know what they mean most of the time.

I've heard people call the Commodore 64 a game console even if it was technically a home computer.

  6. Nuclear Power: Safe.

Nuclear Power Plant with stupid inspectors and operators: Please see here.

Nuclear Power in a part of the world so prone to earthquakes and tsunamis they have 40 ft high seawalls and strict building codes: Unsafe.

Now I am not an expert on Nuclear Power by any means, but building the plant seems like a stupid idea to begin with.

Agreed. If they knew the area was prone to disasters, they were putting everyone in danger to begin with.

  7. Unfortunately I can't choose either as a first choice. Anything from Boylan Bottling. About 95% of the food and drink I consume and natural/organic [trying not to sound preachy here, because people always jump to the conclusion I'm some sort of snob when I mention that stuff ]

But I do still drink it on occasion when that's all that's available; I'd have to say I prefer Coke; it's not as a sweet as Pepsi and has more of a bite.

Taste is taste, my friend. I'm not judging you for it.

Hey since we have people from all over here - I'm curious whether your pepsi and/or coke have "real sugar" (sugar-cane sugar)? I've heard that in the states they don't (they use corn syrup?) - what about other countries? And does anyone know the reasoning behind the differences?

I think only the states use corn syrup in their soda. Here we use cane sugar as far as I know.

  8. I think you should change your poll since It's possible for someone to have more than one operating system. For many years I had both Ubuntu and XP. But when one of the new versions on Ubuntu came out my computer was too shit to run it, so I just went back to have only one operating system (XP). One day I'll build a new computer then I'll have both Win7 and Ubuntu/Linux.

Good advice. Multiple choices now available.

Why do people refer to Windows Computers as PC but not Macs? PC stand for personal computer and that's what a Mac is.

I agree. Macintosh computers are just as much PC's as any other brand. The only difference is that with a Macintosh, Apple is assembling it.

  9. I just stay active because I'm a fan of AF and I really like the people and atmosphere here.

Mind switching that to a screwdriver?

Hehe, sure. And I'll give you a free swiss army knife when you reach 500.

Screwdriver, as in OJ with rum or vodka in it...

    DOH!

Anyway. I think I'm going to bed now. I'm feeling sleepy.

  10. Wait, robots do sexual reproduction? Or is it only for their personal pleasures?

I wonder if you took all the porn on the internet and stuffed it onto one server, if it would mutate into the ultimate sex robot.

...or maybe that's just my kinky fantasies going wild again...

  12. I am a regular poster to the Black Mesa forums and can definitively say that the following is true:

    • The mod is being worked on and it is almost done. It is not dead. The developers are working hard on the mod every day.
    • There have been no Twitter updates because they abandoned Twitter but the website front-page has not been updated to reflect this.
    • The website will be updated when the mod is released.
    • The mod will be out "when it's done".
    • The developers want Black Mesa released as much as the fans want it released. If not more.
    • Asking for updates/release dates/media won't work.

For more information on the Black Mesa mod, please read the Wiki, the FAQ, and peruse the forums. Some ground rules on the forum: Please search the forums before posting questions. Most questions have already been answered many times and many people don't like re-answering the same questions over and over. And the forums are a bit of the "wild west" feeling and some aren't too mature so, please, before asking questions that have already been answered, please search.

    Thank you.

    Thank you, random one-post person.

  13. Holy fjord dude, you are nearing 800 posts and only been here a week.

I wonder how long it will take for me to reach 1000...

Alyxx how often do you log-in? You are apparently one of the most active posters here.

Log in? I just keep myself constantly online.
