I was trying to go primarily the Railroad route, but it somehow automatically gave me a quest to destroy the Railroad for the Brotherhood without giving me a way out of it. I started a new playthrough because of it.

And you should get on with completing the main story...

I used to swear by it when I was younger, but a turning point happened when I got Steam, and the Orange Box. I can still enjoy gamepad FPS, but M&K is a whole different league.

Basically it boils down to this - The game looks like shit, it crashes all the time, the story contradicts EVERY SINGLE THING YOU'VE SEEN IN THE SERIES SO FAR, the voice acting sucks, the plot sucks...

Yeah good god what a clusterfuck that game was... though I have no real relationship with it myself so I'd never really list it.

I, for one, think they did a good job with the plot.

I agree. I thought it was engaging as fuck.

Quake

It's widely considered not only one of the best games on the GameCube but one of the best horror games out there. Haven't played it myself but the critical opinion seems to be very positive. It definitely sounds worth emulating at least.
