Ha! It's been out less than a week, and not only is there already a nude mod, it's in its THIRD VERSION. Is this an enthusiastic community or what?
Nice lol

94 now. Hey, I'm unemployed... What else can I do with my time?
Even with work I managed to get a good amount of playtime over the weekend.

IMHO the chat was a mixed bag. Watching Ross talking about stuff was cool, but the people's questions were very disappointing. A lot of them were already asked and answered before, and many more are obvious to anyone who watched Ross's videos. (And if you didn't, why attending the chat?).
Once again, kudos to @Jeb_CC for the work on FAQ. I think next time it will be reasonable to just say "sorry, that's already answered in the FAQ" when someone asks "Ross Y U moved to Poland" for the bazillionth time.
There's a reason they are called Frequently Asked Questions. Cause it's what people wanna know, lol.

What always bothered me about Fallout was the Sci-Fi elements mixed in with that 50's vibe. I think there is just too much of a contrast there, but I know a lot of people love it.
To me that's what makes it unique. It's sci-fi but it's... very retro sci-fi, almost retro-futuristic, like it's based on how the future was supposed to be in the 50's and 60's. That's what I meant about "nuke-punk", it has taken on a world all of its own. Like, all the terminals are very basic, and there's a lot of mainframe computers and oldschool stuff.

Technically, BTG, it has to be early '60s, not late '50s. "The Wanderer" and "Blue Moon" were both featured in Fallout games and were both released in 1961.
Well, it's still a very 50's vibe in general, and it's common for the decades to kinda mesh into each other, like how the 80's lasted until around 93 in most places and the 90's still lasted until around 2004. So that's kinda nitpicking imo.
The Fallout games have always had a very 50's style about them, especially with the cold war paranoia so prevalent at the time and the nuclear power.
To me the Fallout games have always had their own kind of vibe to them, it's similar to steampunk except nuclear rather than steam. Nuke-punk? lol

So I shaved my head bald again and suddenly girls talk to me again.
I also realised that I can't smile properly because one side of my mouth is really messed up and has a weird shape, so instead of smiling the right side of my face looks like I'm about to kill everyone.
Did you have a stroke or something...?

Fallout 4... 83 hours of it...

Most big banks still run Fortran and Cobol programs on mainframes to this day...
The problem is that the systems outlive the people who know them. Once the original programmers retire or die, if the system breaks, the youngsters can't fix it

Mmm... Fortran'77... That was fun!
Not as much fun as Macro Assembler, though
Regards
Yeah, so any new technicians need special training to fix them.

I finished the story recently. Now I'm gonna play it more casually I think.

When it comes to organisations and places like this, there are usually programs made by software developers for that specific organisation. I know at work, we have like... our computers... the OS's are almost completely different ones, just because of how differently it works. They run on a form of Windows XP but it's been like, heavily modified or something. As much as an OS and computer can be that is. Lots of certain commands run to make sure that everything is sorted upon booting of the system. You can restart the computer and expect it to be able boot up, load the specified cashier's account, connect to the right monitor, to the right printer, to connect to the database and network, load up the main program, and even keep the order that you had previously put in, to the exact point. So yeah, it's modified as all fuck. And it's way too big of a hassle to re-create that. It'd involve a lot of bug-testing. And organisations just can't afford silly things like constant computer failures. So why upgrade?
That turned out to be a mini rant, sorry. XD
Yep, exactly...
heck there are still some terminals running DOS based programs to this day.

My only opinion is that they are human beings, not aliens from another planet like some people seem to think.

Making some breakfast.

It is Friday the 13th after all...
Also, why haven't they upgraded their computers yet?
When it comes to very integrated systems like this, upgrading can be a huge hassle, since it's a lot more complicated than simply installing Windows 7. If they are using 3.1 it means that the software they use for the system probably wouldn't be compatible with anything else, and thus upgrading would require entirely new software and replacing their entire system.
Sometimes it's easier to just stick with what works.

Decided to get back into Skyrim (2 days before my exam, gg)
Loaded my most recent save, this is what I was greeted with.

So, having warded off the Apocalypse, I've been able to play the game a bit more, and have begun to realize that there is a major problem with it.
And that problem is that there aren't enough free hours in the day to play it.
Gah, lousy stupid work and lousy stupid thesis!
Also, as a side note, do you think that this would count for Ross's desire to see more Halloween games, what with all the decorations laying around?
I know how you feel lol

Going to bed after playing Fallout 4.
