I think this is why we need our products and services to be patent. We work hard and give our full efforts for completion of our product/service and then somebody else uses it. With the help of a proper patent you get the right to stop people copying, selling, manufacturing and importing your invention without your consent or permission.

There are other networks with a bit better or even much better conditions for directors. With the amout of work Ross has throughout a year... No way he would take care of this. He's slowly losing his mind (a partial joke) I hope he gets more free time this week and all the other weeks...

Can't help you with the week length, but I do have a plan to lengthen days to be 28 hours long... I'll let you know when I'm doing it, just to let you adjust easier. (this isn't a joke, I am seriously going to slow the rotation of the planet at some point in the future)

To people who believe I'm Ross's girfriend: He is REALLY freakin busy (as always, except with stuff that is more creative and new and I'm not saying anything ) and I'll remind him about the progress bar (when he's less busy unless he sees this thread himself). It's been kinda annoying me that the old progress bar is still hanging on the website. But it's not the most important thing nowadays. I miss the times when he had time to make progress bars... We all miss it

There has been an invasion of blinking pony gifs (altogether with giant ass blinking pony signatures AND blinking pony gif avatars). What's wrong with your heads?

In the middle of the movie, I wanted my money back. The worst ever scientists team with a moron capitan and billion dollar equipent that does nothing...!!!! And pro movie makers made this ... all the time knowing the WHOLE script??!?!?! And actors had no doubt about their characters at all?!?!?! Acting and pace is relly good, but it has more plotholes than a Swiss Cheese movie (if it existed )

This is why I appreciate realism (as much implemented as possible) in Ross's videos. He really has intention to make stories look and act realistic, not just sort of Hollywood-real

So far, the voting only showed that there seem to be more cat persons than dog persons among the fans, but that may require additional poll. I kinda felt like there may be more cats....

I think Daniel did a good job with the new sounds. I actually always wanted to see what FM would be like

with newer renditions of gunshots. Lots of the vort attacks, apache shots, tank shots, missile shots or

mounted-gun shots were all redone partially in the series, but I never expected to see the user-handled

weapons changed. It was a good experiment and a nice surprise. I also understand a lot of the Half-Life

nostalgics and people arguing for consistency though.

 

Freeman's Mind has always had the occasional sound tweak or embellishment for certain events or dramatic

sequences, least of which have been the satellite rocket launch, the tentacle fire blast, the giant fan room,

Freeman getting knocked out, the Shark/Ichthy attack, and any major explosion in the series. Every episode

is full of these "enhancements" that normally do to emphasize the original game environment, rather than to

replace it completely. On that note, there are also no episodes without these mixes; there's barley a minute

that goes by without some additional effect added to bring out the ambiance or explain Freeman's movement.

 

So you never hear just the original cut from the game; there's thousands of subtle things that won't even get

noticed, especially for newcomers. Though this is kind of a fundamental expectation for all the foley

departments in media. I never personally changed the weapon sounds myself, (aside from the occasional

shotgun bass ) partly because I'm also a big "Ancient" for Half-Life, but mostly because the work involved

to mod the game that way was far too much for just gunshots, so I didn't see the necessity.

 

But on the face of it, there's not much difference between changing the tank shots (and everything mentioned

above that I always do) and changing the gun shots... apart from consistency, that is.... So I guess that line is

kind of hard to see; though most everyone agrees the Poison Headcrab did happen to cross it.

So anyway, it's perhaps unbefitting of me to vote, but I wanted to say something about the case regardless,

since the sound design in Freeman's Mind has never had so such attention before.

 

 

It's okay... My cat was so old and sick I knew this day is coming sooner or later. But I hoped for later...

 

I can't reaveal what was Ross vote This would make the whole voting corrupted. Especially for people who don't support the vote that Ross has chosen. I can see a new huge discussion arasing from this. Since I'm amazed how people like to discuss about the sounds already!

I personally like your job on sound editing Otto, you addd these small or big tastes here and there, in the most suitable moments. It makes episodes uch more realistic and dramatic, even if people aren't aware of these effects. I'm aware of most of these and if I don't notice, Ross tells me usually what was tweaked But you don't always have time to make it on time That's a pity

 

Episode 47 was good as well. I noticed gunfires well a bit too loud but I liked them. But the headcrab sounded a bit odd. I liked that lasers had buzzing added. Maybe you guys can combine your sound editing forces? I can't say who is better with effects...

 

Both of you sound guys did a good job, although maybe you Otto have more experience to make it better balanced and synchronized . I have pretty sensitive ears and gunshots often irritate me in games. But there's nothing like a good blastoff!

Something like a new april-fools day episode, with someone who can act very boring?

 

Or just use an other Scott family member! I don't know which is the best or funny variation.

 

Personly i've converted all FM-Episodes as mp3 files and i hear them on my car like a audiobook.

(ok no picture.. but i've seen all episodes about 40 times and i know whats happends in every of them)

 

The only stupid thing ... when i have to stop (traffic light turns to red) my window is down and at that moment Ross is screaming "give peace a change or just stand still!!!!! bam bam bam"

 

So thats why i believe will notice every voice change.

Honestly, I don't care that much if he picks certain guns or not. I care about realism as much a spossible in this kind of a gameplay. As you wrote, Freeman is portrayed as a real guy. As far as I know, I'm real too. Surroundings don't have to behave realistic towards him all the times ( he should get shot or faint of hunger if Ross kept the show hyper-realistic ) but his emotional reactions can be as realistic as a real human being, that he is in FM. So yeah, I think any person, scientist or not, scared, tired and alone, would not pick an alien object. After encountering so many of these creatures before he would think this one may turn out REALLY dangerous. Like this time Freeman could get killed of something he hasn't encountered before . And he doesn't want to take more risk than necessary.
