I've been reading lately that a lot of people both here and in Ukraine think that George Soros (he's kind of like a conservative's boogeyman example of a Liberal Evil Mastermind over here) used his support of the Orange Revolution and other similar events to insinuate his allies and his corporation into positions of power in the Ukraine and those other nations.

I honestly don't have a preference. I've had good and bad cats, and good and bad dogs, and they each have their selling points to me.

Personalitywise, I have more in common with a cat. I like to lay in the warm places, I like being solitary and independent, I'm authority-resistant, and if you annoy me I will tear you and everything you hold dear to shreds.

On the other hand, once someone has won my loyalty, I turn into the infinitely forgiving and eternally loyal dog.

At the other nations involving themselves in this without any studying whatsoever.

 

The funny thing is Putin likes Tymoshenko. He recently commented "I wouldn't mind working with her".

From my reading of the article, he's still saying that. He said said he could not understand the court's verdict against Tymoshenko.

The whole thing confuses me. As I understood it, Tymoshenko was one of the leaders of the Orange Revolution, which the Lefties I know hold up as an example of a wonderful, peaceful revolution.

But if she turned out to be a crook, well... that rather bolsters MY feelings about revolutions, instead.

But nooooo... some IDIOTS decided that it was better for a kid's "self-esteem" if everybody was taught in the same group... even though that meant that the teacher had to slow down everybody's pace so that the dull kids could keep up.

In Finland The populist (right wing) party got about one third of the votes. Are you afraid this will happen in your country. How can you fight against it.

 

Why would I want to fight it? In my country, both Right and Left are dominated by the bugfvck insane. I doubt it's much different anywhere else. Just that your lefties are further left and your righties are... also further left.

I think the governments that don't give in to their people for many demands are the ones that are too powerful generally as a world country and can't afford the change, I'm rather happy that in most of the european countries governments do give in to protests so far. I hope this won't change.

Communism sounds good on paper, put in practice it can't work on a large scale.

We are humans. We make a GAME out of playing the system to our advantage. We break rules. We lie, cheat, and steal. We are ambitious, and we always, ALWAYS want more than we have.

The only way that could EVER work is if we no longer had a scarcity economy. If resources and energy were infinite, that would upset the whole apple cart. But that's not likely to happen until the rest of the world goes as space-crazy as I am, and decided to make it happen.

In practice, it never worked. You always had the Party bigwigs living it up better than the rank-and-file, creating class in a supposedly classless society. Because that's what people do when they get power.

Anarchy? Yeah, that doesn't work either. Eventually, power ends up in the hands of whoever has the nastiest thugs and the biggest guns. To continue the example above, in an anarchy, a GROUP of guys with shotguns can to whatever they want to that girl, and daddy's just going to have to live with it. Shoot one, and the other four will shoot YOU. Or, one jerkass with a gun can overcome a dozen decent people without guns. It falls apart at a touch.

If you have a shotgun for home defense, chances are you will not even need to fire it.

There are few people whose brains do not send their legs the "RUN THE FVCK AWAY!" signal at the sound of a shotgun's pump action.

Perhaps have an atom of antimatter suspended in a magnetic field in the warhead, then when it hits, the magnetic field shuts down and creates an explosion. That could also work, it would create an explosion about the size of Vatican City and blind everyone around it. Of course you could always add more anti-atoms...

Again, an atom will not do it. An atom is vanishingly tiny. You're going to need visible amounts to produce a decent explosion. As I said above 1 gram (which is a LOT of atoms) = 3 hiroshimas. To get the size explosion you "want" won't take as much, but it's still going to take a lot more than single atoms or molecules.

1 gram of antihydrogen would be the equivalent of roughly 600000000000000000000000 atoms of antihydrogen. (get your hands of a chemistry textbook and look up "moles" to confirm).

I agree with you Pro, it sounds like a good idea as long as healthy food is cheaper. Otherwise its useless.

Basically, the reason why public education is immoral is that it forces people at the point of a gun to pay for another person's child even if they don't agree with it. It's the government declaring, "you don't have a right to the money you've made"; it's initiating force. And worse, it's all done in the name of "need". Somehow, a child's need is a claim on the life and effort of someone else according to their logic. That's why the only moral alternative to education is schools run for profit--where all transactions are through voluntary consent and not through the use of force.

Clearly, Michael relies solely on infrastructure he built by hand. Must take forever to build those freeway overpasses...

Meh. I don't think I'd have received any better education from a corporation which was at least as concerned with its quarterly profits as it was with my educational well-being.

 

By the same logic, computers made for profit wouldn't be as good as computers made by the government through taxation.

(I've heard that statistically, if you live long enough, you WILL get cancer. That's probably not too much of an exagerration.)

In reality, the US is one of the best places to have cancer, if you're going to get it. Despite what is said about our health care system, our health care ITSELF is second to none.
