  1. If we're going to do any fooling around in space, we should fool around with stuff that would be inconsequential to Earth, seeing as the barycenter of the Moon's orbit is not far from the surface of the Earth- if we started moving it around, it would screw up Earth's orbit which would screw up our time system- let alone the havoc it could wreak on tides.

Blow up Neptune or Uranus. Apart from fascinating environmental and chemical studies, no humans would be affected. Jupiter is important though, it's our solar system's vacuum cleaner.

That's a picture of the heat signature when a comet (which could have potentially entered into a dangerous near-Earth solar orbit) was captured by Jovian gravity and crashed into its southern hemisphere. Jupiter is our big bro that sucks up jerk asteroids and whatnot, and probably has been doing so for many millenia.

  2. Well the Russian Space Program is still going to be staffing the ISS and continuing the program in that respect.

In fact, the Soyuz manned spacecraft has a better service record than the Shuttles; more have been launched and there have been fewer failures.

  3. Trolling?

Did you know that the statement "God loves you" could be interpreted as trolling if one interpreted as sentiment in order to incite debate regarding religion pertaining to God?

Did you know that the statement "God loves you" could be interpreted as a serious statement inferring that (ignoring the matter of whether or not a God exists) he loves you in a personal relational way?

  4. Did you know i'm awesome?

Did you know that the more you think others are awesome, the more awesome you become?

Did you know your the only one here i think isn't awesome?

Did you know that God loves you?

  5. Using Hammer one could potentially edit the Half-Life Source levels so that they could be played like Freeman's Mind. However that would cause cutting out large parts of levels that were designed to be free to explore, as well as making the game unchallenging.

An example of this is where he does a 'pullup' in the giant generator piston room, one could put an invisible ladder brush and node network there. But in order to make full advantage of that, you'd have to know about it in advance, and it would entirely bypass a fairly enjoyable platforming section.

  6. I have an odd feeling that sometime in the future. there's gonna be a similar thread here. and it's going to turn out the same way.

There are already two. They're the random thread and the Presidential Election thread.

However people seem somehow obligated to be all legalesitic when posting on there. Like they have to complete with how systematic the rules are in the Election or something.

  7. i dont think Freeman's Mind would be as good, because it is a comedy. But if a completly different series started like that it might work.

The guys at Rooster Teeth got Monty Oum to animate some awesome fight sequences and visual jokes in the last series of Red vs. Blue and it didn't take away from the humour or story and allowed them to do more than they could with conventional machination.

But yeah, this is pure awesome, felt less like a FPS and more like you’re really looking through the eyes of Freeman, I’d love to see this kind of thing in FM, but I think if this happened then it would take a lot more time to make FM than normal.

Monty Oum works for Roosterteeth? I would have thought he would have gone to something more highbrow than that.

    On second thought, maybe not.

  8. Nicholas Cage.

Then we're halfway on topic. O_o

but yeah, as impressive as this is, this guy needs better things to do with his time.

Actually speedruns such as that one are the cumulative effort of speed run teams that compile together basically a montage of their best runs. Every single map and occasionally quick-saves part way through them are play and replayed as many as dozens of times until they get a satisfactory level of completion.

That same team (Half-Life Done Quick) did Half Life 2 in about an hour and a half.

and you can see who's actually performing the play-through by the name changes that appear in the lower left.

Apparently speed runs done in this manner can take months.

EDIT: You can see where he quick-saves in that video at 2:31.

  9. let me get back on topic for a second: anti-bronies won, right? XD

I beleive there was a mutual anti-hostility summit held in the summit of Mount Everest whereupon Epsilon slam-dunked his comeuppance check and Alphabetagamma celebrated by way of commencing the world's longest free-fall skydive whilst riding a Yorkshire pony. As of yesterday according to NORAD, he still has not landed and is currently in low orbit at an apogee of about 132 miles, currently estimated to be landing somewhere near French Polynesia on the third day of Christmas.
