Basically, I fucking love this game. It is hard as balls, but that's mostly because when this game says tower defense, it means tower defense. None of that "Set up some stuff in case some guys slip past your ass-kicking," crap. If you just plop down some blockades and hope for the best, you may as well give up now. The art style is pleasing to the eye, even though we've all seen the old "Orcs, knights, and wizards, oh my" shtick before. The Diablo/Borderlands-esque loot system has yielded some pretty awesome things, and I'm only at Level 11. The upgrade system is simple, but also makes you think whether to pour mana into upgrading your weapons and armor or using less-useful equipment in order to save up for that pet you've had your eye on.

Each class is unique, with the Squire being the power house that sets up the physical defenses, Huntress preferring long-range and setting up traps, Apprentice shoots magic shit and builds towers that do more of the same, and Monk I don't know what the fuck. It's cheap, it's fun, it's easy on the processor, and worth your time.

  2. I tend to just not bother talking to any kind of customer support of Big Companies, they never get me where/what I want and in the end I just wasted lots of time and energy.

Well too bad, because the PR guys/"In the Box" admins on the Gearbox forums handled quite a few FAC situations like yours with great success on all ends./pluggy plug

  3. I am now reminded of the time when I first discovered Zero Punctuation because of its (at the time) mock review of Duke Nukem Forever. I blitzed through all of his reviews before then and had a jolly good time.

  4. I wont even be getting it, even though I preordered. Got ripped off of my First Access Club membership.

...And Gearbox is giving you free DLC through the FAC because they realize you felt ripped off. Seriously, are you thinking this through all the way?

Edit: Or do you mean you weren't given FAC access despite ore-ordering?

  5. It really was too fucking much at points. Especially when people quoted posts with big images and didn't bother to remove the tags on it. And quite a few signatures were too big. Particularly Rainbow's at one point. Good riddance to all that malarkey, I say, and I hope I don't see it again unless signatures have size restrictions and people remember to remove the tags in quotes.

  6. And this just may be me being a little spoiled by Team Fortress 2, but 9 maps sounds like a very low number of maps.

On release TF2 had six official maps.

True. But over time they realized that is too low of a number and now there are 49 maps officially in the game.

  7. They really dumbed down the graphics for the PC beta, so that everyone gets a taste of it. That's why you're getting limited destructibility, but it's going to be fully destructuble in the full version. Also, if you've seen how massive those maps are, the initial launch will have 9, count 'em, 9 maps. It's a beta guys. They DO have a finished, polished product, but they're releasing the beta because people will give feedback and DICE wants to take a very Valve-like approach to updating.

Where did you read they toned down the destructibility for the beta? I'd certainly like to see confirmation for that. And this just may be me being a little spoiled by Team Fortress 2, but 9 maps sounds like a very low number of maps. Unless every map will be available for each game-type, then that might be more excusable. And how exactly is DICE going to use feedback from a beta that they've already developed past? Like you said, they have the shiny, complete version already done. They threw us this old, actual beta version they copied onto a different folder or something a few months ago to give to us for a demo. All the complaints we may have with it have already been fixed.

  8. Could have used a better map with vehicles on it. But this was the same dance as from BC2. The first hour or two I play it for is extremely fun, with me anxiously waiting for my next unlock. Then I am waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and fucking waiting because you have to grind absolutely everything to get the most out of the guns. It just stopped being fun in any way after two hours total. And the campaign will be shit, so hardly worth buying it for that.
