  1. If you think Saw was the most professional of the genre nowadays, then you aren't watching any horror movies aside from the shit that US distributors are churning out. They're all cheap and not in a good way.

Check out some Korean, French and Spanish modern horror. I think those are the best countries doing horror (and horrific) cinema right now.

Kirkreng, the violence in a film has little to do with the intentions of the antagonist, it has everything to do with the director and writers intentions. The purpose of the violence in horrors highly depends on what the filmmakers wanted to convey and what the viewer took away from it. In the case of the Human Centipede, I'd say the violence is highly useful to show not only how far science and obsession can go, but how pliable we are has human beings. How easily our bodies can be turned to something subservient and weak. It could be a metaphor for the need for cooperation between people, and how disconnected we have become. Or on the other hand, how trapped we are by the actions of everyone else (we're all killing each other constantly via pollution, etc. We're all in some way shitting in each other's mouths).

The Saw movies do have an attempt at a meaning, but it's not very good. They're just not fun, enriching, or entertaining films and I see the whole 'appreciation of life' thing to be about the blandest motivation in the history of film. It's been done in a decent way in other films, but Saw got lucky and became a franchise. It tested well, producers could hire cheap writers, actors and effects teams and could pump out a picture every year for a certain buck.

The film industry is all about money, and Saw makes money because people are fucking stupid and give their money to movies like that because they don't know or care about anything new or different.

You are right but you insulted me. I said saw was the most proffesional looking movie in terms of video and audio.

I never said anything about entertaining or beautfiul, it amused me a bit that is all, it's not a classic IMO, but I could watch it.

I'm not exactly a movie fan but I do know the difference between hollywood and real movies. I can appreciate both at times simply because I'm not bored with hollywood yet, and I don't have time in the movie industry (As you correctly said) but when I do watch indie movies I enjoy them a lot.

I told you my favourite movies. And I never paid for saw, I watched it on my tv. I'm not exactly a fan of it.

You are probably right about me not having watched enough movies and mostly hollywood but it's not because I don't have interest, I sinply don't have time, I am concerned with music more, and my tv right now is shit, it's no reason to insult me though.

  2. These are the people who make a new game for every patch and charge people for the game disk and box separately

    Do you think that's profitable?

It's stupid both ways you know. If the game is crap noone will buy it even if it is in a shiny box and patched. If people feel cheated they will torrent all games from the company without a thought.

If the guys tried to think progressively and move with the world for once then this would not happen.

  3. I'd slap them for their derpiness.

Games are going to be good because those guys won't make it well in the gaming industry with their thoughts. The future is digital and there is no coming back. Just as Vinyls dissapeard 10 years ago, DVD's will too..... unless it's a movie *derp derp...

  4. He does talk about Barney in some episodes, sometimes he has these flashbacks remember? And he mentions everyone else in the lab is some kind of nerd or bore (I guess it means Kleiner and Eli too) so...

Barney though he will probably mention more.

    Flashbacks? Which episodes were these?

I mean flashback talks like, "One time...."

I believe he did mention him and owning beer and in the training episode he talks about him and barney scaring people i think if I remember correctly. I might have gotten FM mixed up with another mind too. And I can't remember all these FM episodes word for word, I should rewatch them actually...

  5. I know that in the US owning a gun is considered a right. Here, it's just considered a danger. I'm not 'blaming guns in a shooting', but what is the sole purpose of guns? And what is the purpose of cars? Therefore, owning a gun means that you are going to use that gun.

There are many peaceful and legitimate reasons for owning a gun. To name a few: marksmanship (sports), hunting, self-defense.

What's the purpose of a baseball bat? It's used for killing other people; it's easy to obtain, deadly, and a child could literally use it with great effect. It's mostly used to play baseball, but I'm conveniently ignoring this fact.

I'm sorry, perhaps I did slightly misuse that to seem more convincing. I only meant to say guns are solely meant for shooting, not murdering. Cars, however, are used for driving. Now both can have negative consequences (such as death), but guns seem to me to be more closely related to these.

Anyway, I have heard repeatedly the argument that criminals would get guns anyway, because they don't obey the law. But I think prohibiting civilian ownage of guns will lead to less guns among criminals, too, because they'll be harder to get. Now in Holland, some people have guns (because it's not altogether prohibited, either). Now what if not only victims, but also the criminals didn't have guns. Would that be safer? I am inclined to think that, because guns are used for shooting, the removal of all guns would mean less shooting and therefore less homicides. Of course, this is a hypothetical situation, because there'll always be some criminals that will get their hands on a gun, but in the imaginary case that guns didn't exist at all, would the world be safer?

You are talking about something unachievable here unless all nations ban guns and keep people from gaining gun smith technology. Imagine how easy it would be for a mafia from another country to invade this "Peacaeful no gun country" Seeing how you can't really destroy knowledge of gun technology, I'd say it is impossible to keep your country completely out of guns.

It may be better a new way for police to control gun manufacturing properly and sales. But as long as there is money (Or even greed or lust or simple values that can be traded) there will be corruption of course.

It is the same situation as state anarchy, one country cannot stay in anarchy, it is too easy to invade it, now if everyone agreed it would be different. A part of Ukraine once tried anarchy, it was called Black territory and basically what happened is that the Soviets easily managed to propaganda the other nations that the anarchy was actually a cruel dictatorship and basically make up lies, so they could "Rightfully in the eyes of other nations" invade it. In reality now we know it probably was a simple peaceful society there not a dictatorship.

(I'm an not an anarchist or anything, just bringing it up as an example)

  6. Now that Steam Trading has been out for a while now, what do you all think of it? Share success stories, complaints, or cries of indifference here

Also feel free to use this page to set up trades. (I personally have an extra copy of Half Life 2, which I'm glad to give away.. for the right price of course).

I need a Half-life for my second account.... What do you suggest?

  7. Good idea

    Bad game

I know...but do we have another choice? Is the only Half-Life game that still dont have a mind series. Well, if we dont find voice actors we could try the vortigaunt mode but it would end up being really stupid IMO.

There is countless classic mods for half-life which could use a mind series, for example They Hunger....

  8. He does talk about Barney in some episodes, sometimes he has these flashbacks remember? And he mentions everyone else in the lab is some kind of nerd or bore (I guess it means Kleiner and Eli too) so...

Barney though he will probably mention more.

  9. Back on topic: Have you tried merging all the maps and compiling it? Half-life with lag, but no loading!

It is clearly impossible, the sheer size is of the map is around 20 times the limit of what valve hammer can complie.

Not only, that, the half-life engine will crash simply because of too many entities. It will show maxs_entity limitm message and quti the game. I'm not sure if the size of the map is even possible to play on Hl. I know for a fact it is impossible to render it with Valve hammer editor.

People are mad at the editor for taking a long time to compile simple finished maps, this would take forever and then just crash.
