  1. Not quite sure if I'm surprised or not that there's no thread on this already.

So, Star Wars: The Old Republic... it takes place 300 years after Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR), and is a MMORPG. I've played it a ton since January, and found it pretty fun, albeit some minor bugs here and there, some frequently-complained-about balance issues, and some developmental decisions I just disagree with.

Anyone else here play it? If so, what do you think of it?

  2. What ABG said is pretty solid, but I think I'll add my 5 cents, as well. I haven't played TF2 in forever, but I have about 1,160 hours on it.

First and foremost, please do not have more than than 2 Snipers or Spies. Ever. If I ever catch 3 people playing Sniper or Spy at once on a team, I will see to it that their heads are eaten off in a tantrum of excessive fury. The reason I dislike this so much is because Snipers and Spies have rather meager means of defense, so the team won't be very well off in regard to survivability.

Also, use a sensitivity with which you are comfortable. There is no such thing as a best sensitivity; play with what helps you to aim smoothly enough to track, but quickly enough to "snapshot."

Third of all, use a mic when playing Medic. It's not critical in pubs, but if you ever decide to play pro TF2, it is absolutely essential. But even if you don't play pro TF2, I highly recommend a mic period; it's just the most helpful and conducive to your survival as a Medic.

Finally, spawncamp when you can. It sounds bizarre to say this, but it's a perfectly valid and easily circumventable tactic. If you're banned/suspended from the server for doing it, you likely weren't on too good of one anyway.

  3. That's how it looks when I go sniper on some trade servers... I want to chill and then I get this:

Heh... congratulations on your hackusation; it's a milestone of sorts for an aspiring Sniper (or Medic, judging by the screenshot.. although I don't see how a Medic would get accused of hacking by anyone with a quarter of a brain cell).

Whenever it happens, just type some random gibberish into the chat like /enable.hack-aimbot.1337, and proceed with your domination.

  4. Nice to know the fine folks of Accursed Farms have a generally positive view toward Ron Paul. I've been adamantly supporting him for a while now.
Well to buck the trend on that, while I think Ron Paul seems to be a very honest and sincere politician, I can't really agree with some of his policies. I think he would likely reduce a lot of corruption in government, but I also think he would erode what meager a safety net we already have. Usually areas where the conservative side are kind of weak on are energy policies, education, environmental protection, and having a social safety net for people (including stuff like health care). Best I can tell, Ron Paul's answer to most of these issues is just to let the states handle it. That feels kind of like a cop-out and bad news for states that have legitimate needs, but a lot less resources to work with. Don't interpret this to mean that I think our federal government is great and wonderful and has no problems, but there are some problems that are much bigger than any one state can handle and need to be addressed at the federal level. I also think our whole system is maybe slowly collapsing like the Roman Empire, but that's a separate issue.

About the "let the states handle it" copout, it probably is one of Ron Paul's views I disagree with, in hindsight. I do generally think he'd make a good president, though.

Seems like a reasonable, sane, educated man. That's probably why he'll never be elected.

    Sad, but perhaps true.

  6. A Scout's main disadvantages are the reload time of his scattergun, his low hp, and the fact that he has to dive into close range to get a good meatshot on his opponent.

The Shortstop along with the set took away all of these disadvantages. It was essentially a troll machine. You were given more hp, with a secondary weapon that gave hp upon hits. That weapon also could be used on invisible spies.

The fish was a reskin of the bat, but it also gave away dead ringer spies. If you hit a spy, and it didn't say "FISH KILL," he was still out there.

The Shortstop gave you the power to attack from long ranges. Not to mention it had a reload time akin to the pistol, automatically loading four shots into it, whereas the scattergun would have to reload all 6 shots one at a time.

All of this let scouts just run around 20 feet from their enemies just sniping them. If they got hurt, big whoop. Throw some milk on em and keep pestering them from far away. I'm glad they nerfed the shortstop. Now I think it's actually balanced. Scouts should not be able to attack that far away with such a damage output.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if they kept the reload speed. It's just the damage and accuracy that I'm driven crazy by.

The airblast cost is completely irrelevant because these are the kind of pyros that generally ignore airblasts anyway.

Umm.. Pyro without airblast is semi-worthless.

  7. Played some TF2. It's been months but I'm still pissed they nerfed the Shortstop. Why not nerf the weapons that deserve it, like the backburner?

I partially agree. I just think the nerf should be tied to the set so it's not a blatant upgrade.

Also, I don't really see what's wrong with the Backburner. I never use it, but I'd still like to know.

  8. I've been known to breathe air on occasion.

Yeah. On every other occasion, you breathe hydrogen cyanide.

Greetings, Timlukecake. The Curse of Ye Farme be upon ye; you will soon find yourself posting excessively.

  9. Just found this on SPUF. It could be interesting.

I was in a lobby a little while ago as a Medic using the Krtizkrieg. Our Demo was having problems with lag, so I would Kritz the Soldier until he fired all four of his rockets, then I used the last of it on the Heavy (The Solider and Heavy liked to stay close together). Basically the Soldier would clear the point and the Heavy would clean up and/or keep anyone else from advancing.
